Hi. I'm 27 and live in London, UK. I've only recently started crafting again but now when I have free time it's what I like to be doing. My sewing machine and I are becoming firm friends. I like to sew and enjoy making bags, aprons, skirts, softies etc. I also enjoy embroidery and needlepoint. I don't knit, I just can't get the hang of it. I want to start quilting and dressmaking but as yet I still have fear. When I start a new craft project I'm filled with a mixture of excitement and trepidation (but what's the point if it's not a little challenging?)
I'm a scientist, which is a more creative job than people often think it is. I'm not a designer but I'm enjoying playing with the design process and am trying to teach myself some basic design skills.
I'm new to swapping but I'm very excited and enthusiastic. I love the idea of something unknown arriving in the post. I asked my boyfriend to dissuade from joining some swap groups and the best argument he came up with was that I might get gangrene and then my legs would fall off, I think the potential fun exceeds that risk.
Strong colours, especially purple, green, blue, red and orange. I prefer brown to black. Fabric! Small flower designs, stripes, dots, small animals designs, robot/rocket prints. Solid colours. Stationary. Interesting bookmarks. Strange sweets/candy from other countries.
Lots of pink. Fluorescent colours. Large floral prints. Strawberries. Religious things and imagery, including prayers, icons etc. (I respect other people's religious beliefs but I expect people to respect my humanistic beliefs in return.)
Seam rippers/unpickers (I lose mine and so can never have enough). Thread spools/bobbins. Threads (sewing and embroidery). Ribbons. Zips. Beads. Magnetic clasps and bolt snaps. Sticky labels. Bookmarks.
100% cotton fabric scraps, especially any design by Robert Kaufman, Heather Ross, Heather Bailey and Michael Miller (it's so difficult for me to get those prints in Britain).
