One of the things I've always loved about my library was that as staffers we can create really fun programs around our favorite fandoms (provided it didn't interfere overmuch with our other work, haha) -- so an all-out Hogwarts party (replete with butterbeer, a sorting hat activity, and a quidditch-inspired game) was not out of the question:
We even had an assortment of free wands waiting to choose their owners--my teen volunteers worked many hours with hot glue and paint to make those :)
"Passive" programs like this Newt Scavenger hunt are easy and also fun; we just supplied a list of fantastic creatures to be found amidst the stacks, and library visitors that completed the gamesheet could claim a small prize at the information desk (which, incidentally, is where this lifesize Newt standee would hang out with the staff).
One time I thought it'd be cool to have a pop up concert with a local string quartet and it was a treat to see so many folks turn up for it, the place was absolutely packed!
Another favorite thing is attending outreach events, like the local Pride Parade. Riding inside the bookmobile along the parade route was a real hoot; one of these days I may volunteer to wear the mascot costume, but not very likely as it does get extremely hot and sweaty inside--mad props to our mascot volunteers; they don't get enough credit!
