About Me

-SPOILER- I've started to post some pictures of recent swaps on Flickr. Usually shortly before or after I send it off. -SPOILER-

My name is Monique and I'm from Germany.

I've always liked to receive letters. And I also like the idea of random act of kindness. Swap-bot seems to be the connection of both things. :) These days I enjoy creating mail art like postcards.

Favorite Crafts

I try to do a lot of things. After a while I always have to try something new. Latest interests are handmade postcards, Pocket Letters and Zentangling.

  • Crocheting
  • Knitting
  • Working with paper
  • A little bit of poor drawing
  • Some sewing

Favorite Music

Alternative, Indie, Garage, a bit Folk, 50s Rock'n'Roll/Rockabilly...

To name a few (often changing): Temples, Kasabian, Katzenjammer, Florence + the Machine, Hot Boogie Chillun, Public Service Broadcasting...

And I would be glad if you could recommend me something.

Favorite Television

I'm not a movie fan, instead I love TV Series even more!

Pushing Daisies, Sherlock, White Collar, Grimm, Rizzoli & Isles, Death in Paradise, Father Brown, Doctor Who, Burn Notice, Chuck, Warehouse 13, Perception...

Lately I'm starting in classic series: The Avengers (Peel & Steed!), The Persuaders!...

Random Likes

Aurora borealis - mail art - radio plays - polka dots - flowers - birds - Azulejos - beech woods - DIY-kits - useful stuff - maritim - logic puzzles - kraft paper - plants - botanical - lavender - take a walk - lighthouses - blueberries - magpies - crafting kits - reading - sea - dark chocolate - natural things - organic/natural bath articles (creme, shampoo, soap...) - vintage - vintage cars - old movies - and over all: TEA

Colours: purple, turquoise, teal, dark blue, blue, red

Some ideas for sending: ~I don't collect anything but I like surprises!~ fabric - buttons - patterns for small crochet/knitting projects - handmade things - "consumable" things for crafting e.g. paper, washi, ephemera... everything that I could use for creating mail art (as I don't have enough space for dust traps :)) (or just ask)

I don't like

jewellery - dogs - decorative cosmetics - Disney - Emojis - something with vanilla or sweet fragrance - Manga - off-season Christmas (I'm starting slowly to care about one month before, at the earliest) also not overly excited about Halloween

Teas I love: green (plain or + herbs...) - white - herbal - with lemon and ginger - fresh tastes in general ... (no matter if it comes in bags or if it's loose- as long as it's sealed)

I'd like to try again: Four O'clock - Green tea with rose

Teas I don't like: all fruity or sweet teas (apple, hibiscus, rose hip, berries...) - vanilla - black tea - cinnamon - instand tea - honey - something with vanilla or sweet fragrance

Comment: Wow what a wonderful card! I wish I could give multiple hearts! It is very pleasant to see and to touch, and you also talk about the feeling of the natural experience as well. Wonderful swap, well done.

Comment: Hello Monique, thank you for the awesome map PC you made. I never really looked for strange names on maps but now I will ;)
Response: My pleasure, I'm glad that you like it! Surely you will find strange named towns in Belgium too. :)

Comment: Thanks for the fun postcard Monique!
Response: Oh, you're welcome. I'm glad that it arrived well. Happy swapping!
DLRodrigues rated for HMPC: Put a "Cat" on it on Oct 18, 2017
Comment: Thank you Monique - this arrived today after a very lengthy travel - LOL. It's a very cute kitty cat !!! Thanks again xx
Response: Oh, thanks, I'm glad! I was thinking of an idea for a new card just yesterday. The long travel reminds me of something I learned last week: in Belgium they've experimented to deliver local mail with the help of cats in the 19th century. Well not very reliable and the delivery took longer than expected. Like this card. :)

Comment: Thanks for the PC. The zebras are great. Don't know yet what I will add. Are the book pages German? I love your stamps and enjoy getting mail from other countries partly because of the stamps. Sorry for the late swap.
Response: Have fun working on the card! :) When the bookpages are printed in an old looking font, yes they're German ones.
Comment: Wow! This was worth the wait! I LOVE the William Morris envie you made me! And all the goodies inside! I can't get recipe cards over here and always have to make my own so those are perfect! I'm going to make a "Hall of Fame" section on my profile at some stage and your name will be there!
Response: Too kind, thank you! :) It was a pleasure to use that William Morris paper again. That I still have it in my stash pops into my mind always at the right time. :)
GinaVisione rated for MA: Draw This Word on Oct 12, 2017
Comment: HA! Great PC! Future Sharks! I haven’t looked up the word yet, and won’t til I’m done with mine, which will be an acronym. Pure Silliness :D. Happy Swappin’
Response: Nice, thank you! When learning about the word, I saw that's exact the same in German. And I think I came across this word before.
Comment: Very clever collage - great hat :-)
Response: You're welcome! It was an interesting puzzle to solve, to find those matching pieces. :)
Comment: Dear Monique. What a wonderful gift you sent me!! I love each single treasure you include in this marvelous & so clever envelope!! Thank you so much for everything!! It is perfect!!! ♥♥
Response: Which wonderful news! Thank you so much! I couldn't stop sewing with the postcard, so I kept sewing this little flipbook too. :)

Comment: Thanks for this gorgeous postcard! Isn't it amazing how many bits and pieces of "not me" creep into our houses? I think they come in the back door when we are not looking! LOL Our leaves are gold here. We are getting our fall storms and also getting ready to harvest everything. Hugs from Alaska, Sherry
Response: Ha, cross rating today. :) A golden thank you! So better lock up the back door more often! Tomorrow they've forecasted some pretty strong winds. Bye bye leaves. :)

Comment: ♥ Thank you so very much for the ultra creative postcard. I enjoyed your message as well. As you point out, there may be hope for German postage after all. Thanks again for the great addition to my collection.
Response: Oh great, thank you, it was so fun to create! The hope is growing as I saw yesterday which new stamps will be released till end of the year. Four new "heads". :)

Comment: I love this! The way you tore the paper for the background is terrific! It's almost a "family tree". Things are slowly drying up here. I was finally able to see my whole driveway last Friday. The upside is since most of the backyard and all of the front yard are still under water, I won't have to mow any time soon! Thanks again!!
Response: You're welcome! Never had the family tree in mind, but you're absolutely right. Family full of composers. :) So I wish you a autumn with less rain to help with drying.

Comment: Fantastic PSA Monique!! You nailed it, definitely! And I don't know if you know the saying that a person sometimes "...comes with a lot of baggage" - usually unresolved lifetime issues...? This hits that well too with the baggage image!! Brava!
Response: My pleasure, thank you a lot! <3 Yes, there's a saying with nearly the same wording in German too.
Comment: So lovely to be your partner! I really smiled when I saw Greta in my mailbox!! I love it!!! Fun camera paper too. I love the postcards, thank you! We have had 31-32C weather for a week or so. I guess summer finally found us!!! Enjoying it while I can. Thank you for joining my swap and I really appreciate what you sent! xx
Response: Fantastic, thank you! It was so fun to create. Indian summer also can be great. Also thanks for hosting such an inspiring swap. :)

Comment: Thank you for the fun bird card. I hope your mixed media class was fun. Make more postcards!
Response: Thank you! Oh yes, I will keep doing postcards for sure. :) Funny: my from cold suffering eyes did read "bird cage" and I was a bit puzzled where I've used a cage. :) But the background may have a slight resembling to a cage. :)

Comment: Your postcard is great, I love it! Abstract and weird= awesome!
Response: My pleasure, thank you! This was an unfinished card for a long time. I was glad that I found recently some "missing" pieces to make it complete. :)
