About Me

-SPOILER- I've started to post some pictures of recent swaps on Flickr. Usually shortly before or after I send it off. -SPOILER-

My name is Monique and I'm from Germany.

I've always liked to receive letters. And I also like the idea of random act of kindness. Swap-bot seems to be the connection of both things. :) These days I enjoy creating mail art like postcards.

Favorite Crafts

I try to do a lot of things. After a while I always have to try something new. Latest interests are handmade postcards, Pocket Letters and Zentangling.

  • Crocheting
  • Knitting
  • Working with paper
  • A little bit of poor drawing
  • Some sewing

Favorite Music

Alternative, Indie, Garage, a bit Folk, 50s Rock'n'Roll/Rockabilly...

To name a few (often changing): Temples, Kasabian, Katzenjammer, Florence + the Machine, Hot Boogie Chillun, Public Service Broadcasting...

And I would be glad if you could recommend me something.

Favorite Television

I'm not a movie fan, instead I love TV Series even more!

Pushing Daisies, Sherlock, White Collar, Grimm, Rizzoli & Isles, Death in Paradise, Father Brown, Doctor Who, Burn Notice, Chuck, Warehouse 13, Perception...

Lately I'm starting in classic series: The Avengers (Peel & Steed!), The Persuaders!...

Random Likes

Aurora borealis - mail art - radio plays - polka dots - flowers - birds - Azulejos - beech woods - DIY-kits - useful stuff - maritim - logic puzzles - kraft paper - plants - botanical - lavender - take a walk - lighthouses - blueberries - magpies - crafting kits - reading - sea - dark chocolate - natural things - organic/natural bath articles (creme, shampoo, soap...) - vintage - vintage cars - old movies - and over all: TEA

Colours: purple, turquoise, teal, dark blue, blue, red

Some ideas for sending: ~I don't collect anything but I like surprises!~ fabric - buttons - patterns for small crochet/knitting projects - handmade things - "consumable" things for crafting e.g. paper, washi, ephemera... everything that I could use for creating mail art (as I don't have enough space for dust traps :)) (or just ask)

I don't like

jewellery - dogs - decorative cosmetics - Disney - Emojis - something with vanilla or sweet fragrance - Manga - off-season Christmas (I'm starting slowly to care about one month before, at the earliest) also not overly excited about Halloween

Teas I love: green (plain or + herbs...) - white - herbal - with lemon and ginger - fresh tastes in general ... (no matter if it comes in bags or if it's loose- as long as it's sealed)

I'd like to try again: Four O'clock - Green tea with rose

Teas I don't like: all fruity or sweet teas (apple, hibiscus, rose hip, berries...) - vanilla - black tea - cinnamon - instand tea - honey - something with vanilla or sweet fragrance

Comment: Yay! Another great postcard from Monique! Your lacy May flowers arrived completely intact, which is amazing considering how the postal equipment loves to destroy texture. your gel medium transfer works well as a vintagy background. Thanks so much.
Response: Oh good news! Thank you for your kind rating. Sorting machines like to play lottery. Destroy, not destroy... Without a system. :)

Response: You're welcome! I'm glad that my blue vibes arrived savely. :)
Comment: Ah, Monique! I love the postcard with your cyanotype as as focal point and the symmetry of the other patterns (& blueberries!) surrounding it. I still haven't done my own blueprints - been traveling too much - but soon! Thanks so much.
Response: My pleasure, thank you! I still was too lazy this weekend to start preparing some blueprint sheets. Again postponed. :)

Comment: Thanks for the replacement. So this is a more normal time for your pc to travel to my home. I love the technique you used. But how did you do that with the moon? It really looks great. Thanks again💌
Response: Oh success, thank you! :) I drew the moon onto plastic film. So that works like a photographic film.
stephiedee rated for 📬🎨 Arty Envelope on May 6, 2019
Comment: Beautiful envelope, Monique! The transfer came out really nice. I don't usually have good luck with media transfers, so I depend on packing tape ones.
Response: Wonderful, thank you! Yes, gel image transfer depends on many things. Like the sturdiness of the paper. Envelope paper isn't the best base to take wetness.

Comment: love it...thank you so much..it has an atmosphere of Edwardian Provence...appreciate the letter and Paris napkin too..merci!
Response: Wow, that was a very speedy travel. Thanks for your kind rating. Oh Provence! Now I have the smell of lavender in my nose. :)
Comment: Received re-send. Thank you for resending! It is so cool, as ever! It's fascinating how amazing it turns out when you DO'NT force it!
Response: I'm happy that it made it save to you this time! Thank you! Yes, forcing can be counterproductive. If it doesn't flow, put it aside and pick it up again later.
Comment: Thank you for time making this lovely piece of mail art!
Response: My pleasure, thank you! I'm already thinking of a motive for the next Above The World swap. :)

Hello Monique, you can’t spam my mailbox enough... 😂 It is always nice to receive a pc (OMAE handmade pc tag) from you and this one looks great again! I love the use of the green pastels, yup my favorite colour. Have some fun watching those youtube tutorials, they always bring some new ideas. ♥️

Thank you so much for the cool postcard for the AMA:Intl Mystery Supply Swap. I like the color experiment and using the feathers as wings was brilliant.

Happy Birthday!

bigmamabird on Feb 27, 2019:

Hahaha, some very special rituals, involving at least the purchase of many stamps, would need to be created with much thoughtful contemplation, in order to appease the postal deities! Sealing them with blood on sacrificial envelopes or something..?

Angie on Feb 18, 2019:

Happy Monday!
