About Me

-SPOILER- I've started to post some pictures of recent swaps on Flickr. Usually shortly before or after I send it off. -SPOILER-

My name is Monique and I'm from Germany.

I've always liked to receive letters. And I also like the idea of random act of kindness. Swap-bot seems to be the connection of both things. :) These days I enjoy creating mail art like postcards.

Favorite Crafts

I try to do a lot of things. After a while I always have to try something new. Latest interests are handmade postcards, Pocket Letters and Zentangling.

  • Crocheting
  • Knitting
  • Working with paper
  • A little bit of poor drawing
  • Some sewing

Favorite Music

Alternative, Indie, Garage, a bit Folk, 50s Rock'n'Roll/Rockabilly...

To name a few (often changing): Temples, Kasabian, Katzenjammer, Florence + the Machine, Hot Boogie Chillun, Public Service Broadcasting...

And I would be glad if you could recommend me something.

Favorite Television

I'm not a movie fan, instead I love TV Series even more!

Pushing Daisies, Sherlock, White Collar, Grimm, Rizzoli & Isles, Death in Paradise, Father Brown, Doctor Who, Burn Notice, Chuck, Warehouse 13, Perception...

Lately I'm starting in classic series: The Avengers (Peel & Steed!), The Persuaders!...

Some ideas for sending: ~I don't collect anything but I like surprises!~ fabric - buttons - patterns for small crochet/knitting projects - handmade things - "consumable" things for crafting e.g. paper, washi, ephemera... everything that I could use for creating mail art (as I don't have enough space for dust traps :)) (or just ask)

I don't like

jewellery - dogs - decorative cosmetics - Disney - Emojis - something with vanilla or sweet fragrance - Manga - off-season Christmas (I'm starting slowly to care about one month before, at the earliest) also not overly excited about Halloween

Teas I love: green (plain or + herbs...) - white - herbal - with lemon and ginger - fresh tastes in general ... (no matter if it comes in bags or if it's loose- as long as it's sealed)

I'd like to try again: Four O'clock - Green tea with rose

Teas I don't like: all fruity or sweet teas (apple, hibiscus, rose hip, berries...) - vanilla - black tea - cinnamon - instand tea - honey - something with vanilla or sweet fragrance

Comment: Wonderful job (yes, they came together)! Thanks for telling me the story of the face - it looks like the amusement park would have been a fun place to go to.
Response: Thank you #2! I never was a fan of rollercoasters but I visited the park several times. And I wanted to take a tour trough the abandoned park for years. I hope it will come true this year.

Comment: Always so happy to receive a postcard from you - great story! I think I'll tell that one to my grands :)
Response: Oh such a fast travel. Speed of stars I guess. :) Thank you!
Comment: Fabulous envelope, Monique!! In fact, i opened the envelope and was immediately fascinated with how you made it and then it was all explained in your note so thank you for answering my questions! The contents were great too!😀
Response: My pleasure, thank you! Oh, I didn't know about my hidden abilities in mind reading. :)
stephiedee rated for OMAE: Mail Art Brochure on Mar 19, 2019
Comment: Such a fun arty brochure - I love it, Monique. I sent an original brochure for the same reasons...you miss out on so many textures when you make a print. Thank you for the extra images, too - they are awesome! I'm going to be making another gluebook soon and they'll be some of the first additions. :)
Response: I'm glad that it arrived! Thanks for your nice rating. Your're right, you aren't able to transport the surface feel with a copy. I'm curious to see the pictures in your next projects. :)

Comment: Received this beautiful envelope today. Thank you so much for all the GREAT stamps, very much appreciate them. The postcard, so unique! I am going to send it to my daughter, not only because it is beautuful, different and one if a kind, but also because she used to be a photographer who developed photos and I think she'll find the technique behind this one interesting as well. Thank you, for the time you put into creating this beautiful envelope and what you put inside, you brightened my day.
Response: Thanks so much for your kind rating! It was fun to create. In case you need some more information about cyanotypes, just tell me!

fluffyjunk rated for SIE: Handmade Postcard #2 on Mar 5, 2019
wolfeagle rated for CC: In a bottle ... on Mar 4, 2019
Comment: Awesome postcard. Thank you so much for sending me the world in a bottle. ;)
Response: My pleasure, thank you! The next update would be a crossover with a snow globe. A snowy world in a bottle. :)
Comment: I love my goodies! LOL … I can't believe I got it with NO postage on it:>
Response: Thanks for my 600th five! Yay. No stamp at all? What a mystery. There were two of them on it. But I'm relieved that it made it anyway. :)

Comment: Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh-- it's arrived!!!! Hallelujah and praise the postal deities!!! And what a beautifully frankened envelope it is... thanks so much for it and for persevering under such horrible circumstances. i would have been throwing hissy fits! Many many stars have been earned!
Response: A postal miracle! Happy, happy, happy! And I'm glad that you like it! It would be good to know with which sacrifice you could calm the postal deities. Burning stamps maybe?:)
Comment: Hello and guess what arrived to me? Your beautiful postcard! Thank you so much for the card and for joining the swap!
Response: Great to hear that delivery is speeding up! Or it was the subtle hidden affirmation "movements". :) Thank you!

Comment: Thank you so much for this beautiful and amazingly creative card! I love the 'postal' person you created and the scene you matched her too is just perfect! It gives me lots of inspiration to use up my postage stamps with heads, what a fabulous idea!
Response: My pleasure, thank you! After I've finished the card I recognized that the woman seems to float or fly with the help of the yellow lights. Wasn't my intention but I like it a lot! :)
joybells2426 rated for OMAE: HMPC - Nostalgic on Feb 20, 2019

Happy Birthday!

bigmamabird on Feb 27, 2019:

Hahaha, some very special rituals, involving at least the purchase of many stamps, would need to be created with much thoughtful contemplation, in order to appease the postal deities! Sealing them with blood on sacrificial envelopes or something..?

Guess what arrived yesterday? Your beautiful bit of orange postcard - the latest. Thank you so much. It's really great. I guess that confirms that it was likely the weather or sending from Hamburg. Well, thanks again.
