About Me

I'm a Christian wife of 23 years to a great guy who understands my craft habit because he's a woodworker. (Every time he buys more wood, I buy more fabric.) We have 4 children, all teens and all schooled at home. There is a lot of laughter (and angst) in our home. The oldest two recently graduated and we are walking that fine line of parenting teens/adults-at-home. We have a small farm where we raise our own grass-fed beef and free-range chicken & turkeys.

I work part-time as a childbirth educator and a breastfeeding counselor. One of my life goals is to become a licensed lactation consultant.

My personal style could probably be called "eclectic." I like unusual jewelry, art quilts, and hippy clothes. I'm all about low-maintenance living (read: if it has to be dry-cleaned, polished, waxed, or can't survive in a home with 6 people and 4 dogs, it's not for me.) I like a lot of different color schemes in my home; my bathroom and bedroom are done in beach tones, my main living area is in southwestern colors. My teen daughters' room is frosty blue with black accents. My teen sons' room is dumpster with hazardous materials accents.

My kids think I'm a craft wacko becaue I'm forever collecting bits of things to use on "something." I possess every paint sample available from Lowe's. Home Depot, and WalMart. :) I'm horribly disorganized - I think I have adult ADD - but I usually manage to get my swaps out before the send date.

I love to create, but sometimes my creativity goes on holiday and I'm left feeling uninspired. The great thing about Swap Bot is that I get motivation and ideas from seeing what everyone else is making.

Comment: Thank you for the lovely bookmarks. I'll be sad to release them, but that is the point after all. By the way, how do you get that swirly look in the mod podge (or whatever sealant it is) - is that just from brush strokes? It adds a nice texture.
Response: Thank you for your kind words! Yes, the swirl marks are just from the brush. I used Lumitex gel medium (gloss).
