Welcome to my profile. I am a casual social worker working in mental health and addictions, and also working in primary care clinics. I live in a 1930's apartment in the downtown of a mid-size Northern community in Canada. I live with my husband, King Charles spaniel and a leonberger dog who goes to a countryside daycare 5 days a week. We love hosting international students and expect a Korean woman this summer, then a Rotary student from Venezuela for the fall semester.
I went on a university tour recently - 10 people and the facilitator 2 hours by boat up the northwest coast to a ghost town called Anyox. Anyox had been a copper mining community but burned down in the 1930’s. I was so taken by how the coastal forest had reclaimed the settlement. Loved seeing old fire hydrants in the forest. Tracing old building foundations and exploring the old dam. These are the mini-adventures that make me happy.
Things that energize me: visual arts!! - wall murals, great signs, architecture, ATC’s, antiques, drawings, printmaking, wooden carvings - quirky people, nature, travel (wide and far), community development, birds, mammals, hiking trails, waterfalls, anything “Griffin”, antique postcards & letters, history, lenticular pc’s and bookmarks, literary fiction, erotica, linguistics, mental health, museums.
I don't care for cutesy/girlie things or child reward stickers. I am not religious but don’t mind beautiful religious symbols and architecture (just don’t try to sell me:-) But really, if I get something I cannot use, I just pass it on.
