Living my best life. I get at least one tattoo a year and have given myself two.

I love metal music and can't imagine a day without it. I read too many books. Animals over people, giraffes are my favourite. I really like animals a lot, just all of them. I enjoy glitter and all things cute. Pass the beer, and travel somewhere new with me!

I've lived in three countries now and it's the best choices I've ever made.

A few months back I started getting into doing art in my journal. I plan on doing at least one art project a day for the full year. Being creative has really helped with my anxiety.

Favorite Music

Metal! I like metal core, deathcore, and power metal the best.

My top bands are : BMTH, blessthefall, I Prevail, Our Last Night, Bad Omens, Suicide Silence, etc.

If you have a local metal band you want to recommend, I'd love to hear it!

Dislikes

Spiders (had one put me in a coma) Allergies. I have many. (Don't send tea or snacks to me please.) Rude people. Snow.

Favorite Books

My top three favourite books are:

Helter Skelter- Cloud Atlas- Anna Karenina

Most true crime books grip me. I love mystery, thriller, historical fiction, and YA romance. Not a fan of sci-fi or most fantasy sadly. I much prefer the idea of real life people dealing with real world problems as my life can be a mess and I like reading about other people's messes if that makes sense.

I'm hoping to read more this year. I have a bookshelf full of books that need my attention. But I'm always happy for more suggestions.

Top Loves

Music: Bring me the Horizon. I think Ollie Sykes really helped shape what metal core music is today.

Animal: Giraffe are the best. (Shoutout to wolves and penguins as well) (And tigers and leopards and etc) Have you figured out I LOVE animals?

Colours: Green and Orange

Video Games: Kingdom Hearts and Phantom Brave Anime: Inuyasha and Cardcaptor Sakura

Food: Sushi

Comment: Thank you for your email and the interesting descriptions and reviews of each of the books. I've not read the first three but think I might try You'll be the Death of Me, having read your review. I can understand your ambivalence about Breakfast at Tiffany's. At one point in the past that book was really important to me, but I can see that to a modern reader it might seem really archaic and some of the social attitudes in it are offensive by modern standards. I first read it in 1970 when I was 20 years old -- over 50 years ago. I've just looked back at the notebook I kept then and I had copied out the speech where Tiffany explains why she couldn't go back with Doc -- the one about not loving a wild thing -- and the bit at the end where the narrator has found the cat. It's interesting that you suddenly clicked with her as a character near the end of the book. Thanks again for sharing your reading and your reflections with me.

Response: Try making the one line a day a part of your going to bed routine and it becomes easier to remember (maybe next to bed before you turn out the lamp). Also very glad you enjoyed what I sent.
