About Me

I'm a 24 year old psychology graduate who would like a creative career. I don't want a 9-5 job, and I would say I'm quite unconventional!

I'm currently studying art part time doing life drawing and portfolio preparation at college, eventually hoping to be an art therapist and/or work in community arts.

I also write, including my own DIY self-promoted zine Au Milieu Des Fauves.

I'm very into burlesque - I frequent the Glasgow burlesque clubs, have done some pin-up style modelling and hope to perform burlesque soon on-stage!

I live near Glasgow in Scotland, but I'm half Norwegian and go there to visit quite a lot. I live with my parents, brother and pet rabbit who is 12 years old! :o

Hobbies (apart from arts and crafts, modelling, writing and burlesque!) include baking, teaching myself guitar, ebay, shopping in charity shops and thriftstores, photography, feminism/activism, playing video games, livejournal, going to the cinema, reading (so much I do the 50 Book Challenge every year!) and going to gigs and local punk shows. I don't really like clubbing unless it's old fashioned or burlesque themed, I tend to have nights in watching movies or go out for a few ciders with a friend instead.

I like piercings (nose, labret, various ear ones) and Old skool and trad style tattoos eg. Sailor Jerry and Angelique Houtkamp. I have a pair of Sailor Jerry swallows on my calves. :)

Favorite Music

I listen to hardcore punk, death/doom/black metal, psychobilly, rockabilly, big band and old tunes for burlesque bumping and grinding, a bit of electronica and some intelligent folk and indie. Favourite bands/artists: Anything on the Dischord label particularly Minor Threat. Black Flag, The Misfits, Sonic Youth, Refused, Nachtmystium, Ulver, Murder City Devils, Ramones, wolves in the throne room, Agalloch, Moonblood, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, CSS, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Neurosis, Jarboe, Joanna Newsom.

For a full list see myspace link!

Please feel free to send mix tapes or CDs.

Favorite Books

I love to read pretty much everything except chick lit. I love Angela Carter, Douglas Coupland, Donna Tartt, Neil Gaiman, Chuck Palahniuk, Bukowski, Hemingway, Phillip Pullman, Zadie Smith, Cormac McCarthy. "The Time Traveler's Wife", "The Perks of Being A Wallflower", Dita Von Teese's "Burlesque and the art of the teese". Comic/graphic novels, especially by Craig Thompson and Jeffrey Brown. I enjoy factual books about feminism and sociology/psychology/self help. I always buy art books, pretty coffee table books, craft how-to books and collect Taschen books especially the Icons series.

Magazine wise I read Bust, Bitch, Art World and Nude and LOADS OF ZINES so send me yours if you like. :) I have most back issues I need, but would love the earlier issues of Art World (1-4), Lula and Amelia's magazine. Tattoo, art or craft mags are always welcome!

Favorite Movies

I like zombies and horror, favourites being Romero's Dawn of the Dead, Planet Terror, Hammer Horror series and old cheesy monster movies. I also love American Beauty, Spirited Away, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Proposition, No Country For Old Men, Juno, Ghost World, Amelie, Das Experiment, Goodbye Lenin!, The Edukators, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Chicago, Sunshine, The Notorious Bettie Page, Control. Any foreign or independent films! I need to start watching older ones though!

Comment: Thank you soooo much for the paints :) Very thoughtful and I will enjoy playing with them. Best of luck with your studies and I wholeheartedly recommend living in another country. I hear that Norwegian is easier to learn than Danish so studying in Norwegian should be a challenge but very possible. Mange tak :) Kelly
Response: Aww you're so very welcome! :)
