About Me

THIS IS ME.....

Well, I was a full time working woman until the economy slowed to a crawl. I am presently looking for a full time job after 18 1/2 years in my previous one. (Thanks General Motors!!!) I have gone back to school part time to try and recapture some computer skills that were not part of my previous job. It sure is "fun" going to community college with all of those "young whippersnappers". It really is a challenge and it is keeping me sane while I look for a job, along with half of the county that I live in!!!

I also, by choice, am a full time crafter. I have been crafting for 30 plus years and have tried just about everything. I started making raggedy dolls when my girls were little and haven't looked back. I really, really love to paint and that is what I have been doing for the majority of my craft years. I do oils and acrylic and have tried just about all types of painting. I have yet to try watercolors though.

So you can imagine how neat my house is . . .NOT!! I am a total mess at home. Well, not that I have a path through each room, but I have stuff everywhere. My main craft area is the dining room table, but stuff tends to spread. I swear the cat gets in that stuff at night and just gets it everywhere. Thats my story and I am sticking to it!!

I am currently waaaaaaaay into primitive folk art painting. That is my line of painted things that I sell at craft fairs throughout the year. My oldest daughter and I do craft fairs, street festivals and anything else to pay for the craft fix. I will paint anything that dosen't move. I have painted table leaves, magnolia leaves, anything wood, gas cans, kerosene cans, spoons, cake savers, muffin tins, match tins, lunch boxes, suitcases, shelves, peg boards, silverware boxes, picnic baskets, glass jars, lanterns, clothing, buttons, shovels, hoes, trays, pots, plates and my husband if he sits still long enough. I have painted sheep on everything under the sun....

I have an etsy shop, but it is idle at the moment but you can see some of the things I sold last year FlemingFarmDesigns.etsy.com update: I have a few thing in my etsy store, more on the way.

Comment: Well let me just say, this swap put a HUGE smile on my face! Barbara you are a keeper in the swapping world! You sure do know how to spoil a girl! Thank You for all of the extra fabric and the extras that you sent. And even wrapped it up cute! Big Hugs Heather haha a person can never have too many zippers! lol I added it to my large collection lol.
Response: Glad you like the fabric. It seems fair to share since I have a whole sheet!!! I know you won't use the zipper because of its age, but I just love the graphics and description on those old packages. One can never have too much fabric!!! right?

Response: You are welcome. I thought the pictures and graphics in the book were better than the patterns. But I can always learn something from a book. Hope you enjoy.

Response: Thanks, I looked for purple but didn't find anything in a tablecloth. I try to make all of my bags from reclaimed stuff. I have made several from tablecloths and they are perfect in this hot weather.Enjoy

Comment: Thank you very much! I was so happy to get your package! :D The inchies are very pretty ones, I love them. Blue is one of my favourite colors. <3 I also liked the special pendant present almost inchie charm. Special thanks for that! Greetings~
Response: I'm glad you liked the inchies. They are my first ones. I also love blue. The almost inchie charm was fun to make also. I wish I had different ribbon but that was the best I could find in my supplies. Enjoy

Comment: WOW!!! you did a really excellent job on the pincushion, i have seen and admired these ,thank you so much for making me one. but then you used such pretty fabrics and gave me all the little goodies too. i adore the needlebook! the trims and the hooks and the buckle, so sweet thank you so much! you made my day! :)
Response: I'm glad you like the pincushion. I was afraid it was too big. I always sit down to do some handwork and need all these little things, and I thought that the center pocket would hold lots of bits. Would you believe that I reached into my scrap bag and grabbed all of the fabric for the pincushion. I use lots of sheets for lots of different things and am always glad to use up the extra bits. Enjoy and it was fun cleaning out my stash of supplies!!

Comment: The bags that you sent are so cool! Using a t-shirt is an awesome idea that I will steal in the future, and I am really stoked about the insulated bag. That is pure brilliance!
Response: I don't know about brilliant, but I know mine has come in handy in this hot weather. I hope it will wash well and last a long time. I didn't take time to pre-wash before I put the bag together. I have seen the t-shirt bags before but not with a gusset. I like the gusset. Enjoy

Comment: Thank you so much for such a lovely surprise! I had a great laugh when I opened the mailbox to find an ice cream container and it was 92 degrees outside! You did beautiful work and everything is my favorite color-if I could give you more hearts I would. thank you for making my day.
Response: Glad I made you laugh. When I went to the PO to mail the package, the clerk started laughing. It's been a while since I attempted to crochet, but I hope it holds up. I guess I am my mothers daughter, she never threw anything, and I mean anything, away. Enjoy and that ice cream is really good!!!

Comment: I love the fabric! I've never seen a print quite like it. I'm going to have to come up with a good use for it now. What a challenge! Thanks for the extra goodies. You are most generous. I love ephemera. Another thing to find a use for! Lucky me. I hope we swap again. Maybe next round of the fabric swap? Best, Sarala
Response: Glad you like the sheet. I thought it was a little different. Don't know how vintage it is, but still interesting. Enjoy Barbara
