Instagram: @debrah spencer — This is where I post most of my art and share my creative inspirations. I have been making art and crafts since I started sewing in high school. Now I like to paint using watercolor or acrylic. I make a lot of collage via paper and scissors. I keep a journal with me all the time and I have numerous sketchbooks.
I like to embroidery and sew, too. Not as much as I did when I was younger but still enjoy a bit of slow stitching. I've got a nice collection of cotton flosses, all except metallic and unique fibers.
The book “The Artist Way” has had a big influence on me. I frequently will visit museums, galleries, book stores, or even wander around a hardware store as a way of gathering inspiration.
I love to travel. I’ve been to many states in our country and many countries throughout Europe. Just this year I traveled to Sweden, Wyoming, and Los Angeles to visit with my family. When I travel it’s mostly to spend time with the people I love. I don’t make a tourist checklist and almost always end up making something with another family member during my visit. Some sewing with my daughter, some cards with my DIL, and recently my sister and I made Lapbooks - Which was quite an adventure.
I like movies the whole family can enjoy and listen to lots of different podcasts - self-help, storytelling, history, news.
I have 3 grown and married children. And 5 grandchildren ages 19 years to 19 months. I have an old cat and 2 parakeets.
I live in Oregon and sometimes will venture out of my studio to hike or picnic at a lake or the river. And a visit to downtown Portland is a must each month - even on a rainy day. Oh! And I have a National Parks Passport
