About Me

Updated 12/6/2017 Working mom. I love music, coffee, tea, and crafts and love the idea of giving and receiving neat stuff from mail.

Favorite Music

My 15 year old daughter loves the Beatles, Queen and Rock, some pop and Jazz.

I love jazz, folk music, pop/ballad. Among favorite artists include Stan Getz, David Wilcox, Maroon 5, Adele, Paolo Nutini, Vance Joy. I rediscovered the Dave Matthews Band. I like new songs, acoustic - Ed Sheeran, Hozier, Sara Barreiles.

Favorite Books

I like craft books, self help books, fiction, non- fiction, cook books and even diet books. ;) I listen to Audio books. Few favorite Authors include - Robert Ludlum, Anna Quindlen, I love Kindle unlimited with Narration - for my work commute. I love listening to podcasts - Wait, wait..Happier...GJB...Reply all of course This American Life, lots more if you want recommendations.

Favorite Television

I probably haven't missed a season of Survivor and I still love it, Top Chef, American Idol and DWTS, project runway, the voice, Amazing Race, Bachelor - I don't know what it is, but I like watching it - learn things in the process. I like Jeopardy, late night talk shows. I liked Downton Abbey, travel docs. GOT and Outlander!

Favorite Movies

I love Chick flicks. Don't watch horror movies. Love the Guy from Music and Lyrics - Hugh Grant - I watch movies where he stars in. I also like Julia Robert and Tom Hanks, Patrick Wilson and Colin Firth. I recently watched all 6 starwars to introduce to my daughter, and My best friend's wedding, still enjoyed it. Recently - watched Florence Jenkins and Hugh's dance moves 😊.

My husband would reluctantly watch the chickflick movies with me. But I make sure he never forgets when he had to choose and he picked Starship Troopers 😝

Favorite Crafts

Oh Crafts! I started with cross stitching. I like cross stitching Hearts.

Next, fell in love with rubber stamping - I began buying supplies but never got to do as much as i wanted to. I love making greeting cards, love scrap booking. I like doing inchies and matchboxes, mini-albums. I love to make dotees and stuffed heart-shaped ornaments. I love vintage prints, letters, hearts. Currently into smashbooking, now into pocket letters and flip books. I love watching youtube for tutorials - tons of them. Best thing I did is a travel mini album for my mom-in-law and teabag-like papercraft ornaments to fill with personalized M&M's and gift card to send out for christmas. Everyone loved it.

Also did crocheting, knitting when I was younger.

And currently - pocket letters, flip books, mini pocket letters, making cards with die cuts.

Favorite Find

Swap-bot!!! which i came across while at twitter.com.

Favorites list:

games - scrabble, and other word games, pictionary, cranium, word with friends (fetot1 - for anyone that would dare challenge me!).

Food - sweet treats, chocolates, love sushi, pastry, cakes. Drinks - coffee, espresso, tea (herbal, fruit, green teas), bubble tea. I like to try food from different countries or regions. FOR CHOCOLATE SWAPS: I prefer few small ones to try rather than a bar, if possible. I don't prefer peanuts in my chocolate (snickers is my least favorite), but I like other nuts and everything else.

Crafts - love greeting cards, i like dotee dolls (made my first one on 3/29/09), cross-stitch especially hearts, any crafts (cute, mini, unique ones), i like scrap booking, mini-albums and card-making, smash/junk journaling, making dotees, matchbox, pocketletters and flip books. Now also into altering altoid tins.

Hobbies - I collect stamps, I collect coins, sugar packets, matches, paper bills, napkins, stationery, pressed coins. When i go to a new place - i get magnets, postcards, pressed coins, pins and lots of pics and a heart shaped memento.

Favorite color - Any will do really except too bright (neon) colors. I tend to prefer autumn colors for clothing but I like spring and summer colors as well. My daughter's red and black. For dotees, no color preferences, unless there is a color theme.

I like anything Hearts - whether handmade stuff, stickers, vintage, stones, beads, prints, die cuts, fabric or felt ornaments. I also like bird shapes and owls, microscopes!

I love wildflowers. I like taking pics of flowers. I like them in postcards, note cards, vintage prints, notes/stationeries etc. I love birds, plants - nature.

I appreciate anything handmade. I love scents, neat stuff. Love shopping for my daughter's stuff (although she won't let me anymore- teens!). I love children's clothes. Cutouts from catalogs of anything you find really pretty.

Favorite season: Autumn and Spring and christmas season.

Love to have tea parties with my daughter. We have a good collection of small tea cups and small dishes for different settings. I love to make tiny treats to go with tea/coffee for me and juice, hot chocolate or milk for my daughter.

Dislikes: not much - just licorice flavored food. Although I tasted licorice flavored ice cream in Leavenworth, WA and I liked it. I like halloween stuff but not really the scary, weird stuff.

Current wishlist: - surprise me with anything unique - not really picky.

  • embellishments, buttons, cute paper clips, die cuts, tags, vintage print cutouts, rubber stamp images, used stamps, diecuts (any but i kind of collect flower diecuts)

  • journal prompts, smasbooking stuff, old book pages/magazine cutouts, music sheets, labels, tabs, play/game cards or money, flash cards, old game pieces

  • ephemera, ephemera, ephemera

  • anything Paris, London, New York and Japan!

  • extra samples of inchies, or paper scraps to do inchies. Things needed for matchbox craft.

  • scrap fabric and beads for dotees.

I enjoy swapping thru Swapbot!!! Thanks.

PLANNERS: - I have a Filofax personal, happy planner. So any accessories I can use for this is good.

Swap Experience:

I was flaked once, and my partner just disappeared from swapbot - so I did not get to rate her. It was one of the thrifstore finds swap and I really got a pretty one for my partner and I was excited to get one - but did not get any...sad. So to new swappers, don't do too much at a time. It can be stressful. My max at a time is 4, 5 if they are easy ones. Bottomline is you want to enjoy the experience for you and one who receives your swap. If you can't do it like say last minute things come your way, or you are too busy - send to your partner what you received, and send a note. There are no excuses for not being able to send one. ALSO, DON'T FORGET TO RATE as soon as you can. At least for me, I always am anxious to know if my partner receives the swap item/s, and I am excited to know how i did, always aiming for hearts. I am also waiting for the rating, so I can move on and pick another swap to do.

If you want to do a private swap for pocket letters, please leave me a message :)

Comment: Thank you for the wonderful variety of die cuts. They are all different than anything I have. I like the three pocket idea for protecting them in the mail, too. I'm looking forward to using some of them in mail art and on cards.

Comment: Thank you for all the goodies! The folded paper looked to me like you had written me a note, but the words were so tiny! Then I started laughing when I figured out it wasn’t a note! How silly of me.
Response: Lol :>

I'm excited to start stuffing an envelope for you! :) This is my first swap bot swap but don't worry I won't flake! I've done some on craftster.org in the past but I just don't have time to make big crafting projects to send out anymore (check it out if you haven't since you love crafting too!). Hope you're having a great day :) Whitney
