CSG ~ Fruit of the Spirit, #6 Faithfulness

Faithfulness

as defined in the bible has two different meanings:

1.If we mean the faithfulness of God or Jesus, it refers to steadfastness, honesty, firmness, and God's utter dependability based on His unchanging character.

2.If we mean human faithfulness, it refers to our steady allegiance to God and our trust in Him. A "faithful" man is "full of faith"; he believes in the reality of God as revealed in Scripture.

Dictionary definition of faithfulness: 1.The quality of being faithful. 2.Fidelity.

The dictionary definition of faithfulness is totally different than the bible definition. This must be taken into account when reading and understanding our bible.

What does faithfulness mean to me?

To be truly faithful to God we must love God more than we love our self. We must also be lovers of God not lovers of pleasure. We must be more interested in pleasing God than pleasing our self. A faithful person is not disobedient, greedy, unloving and without self-control.

Having faith in God is truly one of the most important things to have to be a good Christian. If you don't have faith then there is not much to say about you. You need to believe in Him and trust in Him. When you are in times of trouble you need to have faith that He will pull you through your difficult times. I believe that times of hardship make us stronger because they make our faith stronger.

There was a time that I was very ill with Listeria in the hospital. This was many years ago. Listeria is a deadly disease that most people die from. At the time I didn't believe in God or Jesus. I had absolutely no faith. However, my husband had two churches praying for me. I had a fever of 106 degrees. The nurses told my husband that he should come because they didn't know if I would make it through the night. He couldn't come however because he had the baby and we didn't have a baby sitter at the time. He called both churches to pray for me even though I wasn't a believer at the time. My fever broke in 24 hours. Even the hospital couldn't believe it. That was my miraculous healing and I believe that is when God planted a seed in me and that is when my true faith began because He proved to me that He was real.

The faithfulness of a Christian:

1.God wants you to silence the ignorance of foolish people by doing good.

2.Honor all people.

3.Love your fellow Christians.

4.Fear God and honor the King.

5.If you do good and suffer and so endure, this finds favor with God.

6.We are to look to the Lord Jesus as our model of the faith life. We should be faithful and live a good life.

Faith is basically believing in something that you cannot see, having a belief in something that there is no proof of. You believe it's true even though there is no proof of it. It is very difficult to have faith. Lots of things in life do test your faith. But once you have it, it's something strong and powerful. For much of my life I didn't believe in God or Jesus because I couldn't see them, feel there or know that they were real. After my experience at the hospital and after I got saved, things changed dramatically for me. I didn't think life would change after I got saved, but it sure did.

Well that's all I have to say for this time. I hope you were encouraged by my comments. I pray that your life is filled with much faith and it makes your walk with God grow much stronger.

God Bless You!

Blessings,

Yvonne

Thank you so much for the sparkly snowman Christmas card and book reading list from my December Wishlist! So sorry for my late thankyou, we went out of town on Christmas day for a week and I am getting to catch up now on my desk. I loved displaying all of the sparkly cards, I hung up a wide candy striped ribbon and used clothespins to clip all of the cards down the length of it. I loved how it looked and I don't want to take it down. I have read a couple of the books you mentioned on your list, and will look into the others. I am hoping to find some time in 2017 to actually read again, its been a long time.
