The extra thick core is a blank "decoy" in sports card packs; so sports collectors cannot find the jersey cards and autographs and cherry pick those in a box for sale. I used polyurethane varnish on that one, but also use spray Kamar (Krylon damar varnish) and acrylic sealants. ☺
I saw your comment on Patumma's profile- I am her sister so I was a Kirk too. Our family name was anglicized too when the family came from Lebanon. I hated my name growing up in early Star Trek days- so tired of Spock to Kirk!
