Just to let everyone know, I will be leaving mid-June on a brief trip to Africa. I will make sure to send all of my swaps before leaving, but I won't be able to leave feedback until I return. Swaps I host will be resumed once I return.
Sewing, collage, painting, drawing, repurposing, up cycling, general crafting...you name it, I've tried it!
I love making something new out of something old. I really enjoy doing things with old children's books, especially collage. I've collaged a headboard, a toy piano, bowls, trays...everything but the kitchen sink!
I absolutely love making ATCs, particularly if I can draw parts of them or make mixed media collages using postage stamps. I am trying to make or collect an ATC with a postage stamp from every country!
For those new to making ATCs, I have posted some tips in the forums that you may find helpful. atc advice I also just started a blog that is all about ATCs. I post pics of mine and others, tips, techniques and tutorials.
I was just inspired by a photo of JannieB's son's inchie collection. I've never made inches, but I am going to give it a try. I'd love to frame a canvas covered in inches from others. If you would like to add an inchie or two with your ATC swap, you are guaranteed a heart!
Anything but country! Mostly 80's & 90's "alternative" rock, jazz, classic rock. Huge fan of U2, also REM, Talking Heads, 10,000 Maniacs, Queen, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, Billy Holiday, Iggy Pop, Smashing Pumpkins, the Lemonheads, Bare Naked Ladies and many more!
Married, mother of two; college professor; fashion lover; thrift store shopaholic; animal lover. My favorite animals are cats, bunnies and all baby animals. My family has thoroughbred race horses, a bipolar cat Franky, an adorable rescued pointer mix dog Chilly, fish, and three toads. My husband owns a produce company and grows specialty crops. We are known for having tons of watermelons and pumpkins!
I love animals, gardening, art, travel and fashion. I love current and vintage clothing that is well made. Shoes...one can never have too many pairs of shoes. I have a massive Pez collection in my office. I haven't counted for awhile, but I would guess that it's close to 200 now. In addition, I collect Troll dolls that are also displayed at my office.
I love cars, specifically small, convertible sports cars: MGs, TR6, Miata, Z3, Z4, etc. I have driven BMWs for years, but recently achieved my lifetime goal of owning a coupe convertible by purchasing a '98 Mercedes SLK230. It's red, and I named her Ruby as a nod to one of my all-time favorite movies, The Wizard of Oz.
Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, Benny and Joon, Juno, Litte Miss Sunshine, Platoon, The Help, Anything with Johnny Depp...the only man I would onsider leaving my husband for, lol!
I'm putting together a collection of ATCs I have received to display on campus where I teach. If anyone would like to contribute an ATC for this art show, visit this link for details
Swap stuff I like include postage stamps, foreign coins, ATC supplies, paper, pictures and surprises! I can pretty much find a use for anything!
I keep my ATC's arranged by themes. So far, these include Asian/Zen, famous people, cats, dogs, other animals, birds, butterflies, flowers, ladies, holidays, cities/countries, colors, cartoon characters, vintage, circus and in the style of different artists. I also keep a separate book for just those that are hand drawn or painted and one for zentangles.
I like logic puzzles, Sudoku and Scrabble-type word games on my iPad, which is the best invention of my lifetime! I have even developed apps of my own.
My favorite artists are Warhol, Monet, Klimt, Picasso and Renoir.
I'm not into angels, overly religious items, strong floral scents, Kawaii or "cookie-cutter" artwork. I like ATCs that are artistic. I don't like random gemstones or glitter added just for embellishment when it doesn't fit the composition of the card. Not a fan of buttons on ATCs either, as they are usually too big and seem too random.
If you are participating in one of my Kid Swaps, this is information for my daughter.
She is fourteen years old and in the 8th grade. She loves to travel and was able to spend two weeks in Europe with People to People. She is currently fundraising so she can return next Summer for three weeks.
She collects panda bears, but also loves ladybugs, peace signs, pink, purple, polka dots, things that are cute, etc.
She loved The Hunger Games books and the movie.
She likes the Beatles, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, etc.
She loves most animals, dogs, cats, bunnies, pandas, koalas, etc.
She doesn't like snakes, spiders, or creepy animals. She is not into skulls, even cute ones. She despises the color orange.
I rarely watch tv, but if I do it is either The Big Bang Theory, American Pickers or Project Runway. I wish they had a show that combined Pickers and Runway. The designers would have to scavenge thrift stores and use found items to design their fashions. I would SO be on that show!
New favorite show: Oddities. Love that show!
