About Me

me

My name is Tiv, that's me up there!

I'm 18 and living with my family in beautiful New Zealand. I am taking this summer off to spend as much time with my friends as possible, and hopefully travelling around the country to see some amazing people and places. Next year I will be starting my first year of Fashion School and I am really excited about that!

Please note, I am a smoker and sometimes smoke in my bedroom (craft room!) so if you have any problems with that please let me know and I will make sure to store all your stuff in another room. =)

I would prefer to send and recieve handmade items, as I like and appreciate it so much more. I know that it wont always be possible, but please bear it in mind! Thanks. =)

Favourite Colours etc

Right, so I absolutly love colour. My all time favourite combonation would be mustard yellow, brown and a creamy white. I also adore all shades of grey and purple. Bright neons are fabulous, but there is also a time for pastels. Really bright bold (non neon) colours are awesome too. I REALLY love all colours.

As for patterns, I love polka dots, floral and paisley, aswell as all kinds of animal prints. Though like colours I like all kinds of patterns, even really bold clashing ones.

Books, Music, Films

Books: I LOVE reading. My all time favourite book would have to be Catch 22. I also love the Harry Potter series. Other books I really enjoy are Party Monster, Lord of the Flies, 1984, Animal Farm, Brave New World, Trainspotting, and everything I've read by Stephen King. I also like reading Goosebumps and Baby Sitters Club, because they remind me of my childhood and are so damn cheesy.

Music: I listen to a huge range of music, I like a lot of local indie bands. I also really enjoy punk, psychobilly and folk music. And hald claps are ALWAYS good.

Films: I watch heeeaps of movies. I love musicals my favourite being Rocky Horror Picture Show. I just recently watched Shock Treatment and I fell in love with that too. Little Shop of Horrors, The Wizard of Oz. Disney/ Disney-Pixar movies. The Little Mermaid, Alice in Wonderland, Hercules, Ratatouille, Wall.e, Enchanted, Alladin, Monsters Inc. ANYTHING Tim Burton.

Things I'd love

Jelly belly jelly beans. I've got a serious adiction to them, however now I can't buy them anywhere! Put some in with your swap and get a heart!

Stuffed Toys. I absolutly adore handmade stuffed toys, especially really cute, crazy ones.

Notecards and blank postcards to mail to my friends. Bought, handdrawn or collaged. No pretty things, I like WEIRD pictures please!

Your favourite vegetarian recipes.

Jewellery, big tacky necklaces, bracelets or rings. No earrings as I have really sensitive ears unfortunatly.

Journals. I am always in need of more journals as I do a lot of writing.

Knick knacks, just little things you have picked up somewhere. I love broken toys and all things tacky.

I would love anything based on my favourite things.

Would love some picture frames.

I would KILL for a skirt reconned from an old shirt. KILL.

Interesting badges, buttons, pins, brooches.

Homemade lipbalm. Mmmmm.

I would also like altiod tins or similar to decorate (or predecorated!!) as we don't get anything like that here and I am always in need of cute tins.

There are probably a million other things, I will keep adding!

Misc. Likes

Cupcakes, jellyfish, bearded ladies, rats, teaparties, buttons, zines, old love letters, kitsch, tattoos, fairies, spiders, religous imagery, bicycles, daffodils, b-grade horror, sunrise,

Comment: Electrical tape binding is certainly unusual, but I guess it got the job done quickly.
Response: Not just electrical tape, there is a rather strong spine of glue. I've made a few for myself, and they hold together well.

So far you're the only one that's commented on the handmade book thing. I figured that there would be more people on here who know how to make books. Weird. Do you know how to make books?

YooperHill on Oct 24, 2008:

NO, it has not arrived! I'm starting to wonder since you've received mine...

I've just commented on your post about your dotee and came to see your profile. We are in the same Dotee swap, and I'm a rank newbie when it comes to making them, too. I joined Swap-Bot only a few weeks ago, and I'm having a fabulous time. It's hard to be a newbie, but if you'd like to sign up for a private fabric swap, as we have similar interests there, I'd be happy to do so. Unfortunately, with the mails, you won't get a quick rating, which is more of a help to you right now.
