Welcome to my first ever amigurumi swap! If you're like me, you're totally addicted to amigurumi. Since this is my first ami swap I'm keeping it simple. One amigurumi something at least 3 inches "large" for one swap partner. You can wait until I've assigned partners to gear your creature to your partner, or you can go totally crazy and start now. There's plenty of time between the sign up date closing and the send date to create a wonderful creature for your partner.

Please be sure you check your partners profile before sending to be aware of any allergies or phobias. Let's be kind to our swappy partners! No sense sending something that's going to make them break out in hives, or go into anaphylactic shock!

Swappers must have a 4.8+ rating with no no-sends in the last 4 months. Newbies welcome with at least 5 rated SENT swaps. No email swaps or online swaps will count toward your five.

Let's go absolutely Amigurumi HAPPY!

If all swaps require you to have previously rated swaps then how does a new person get a chance to swap anything?

ViridianMuse 08/13/2008 #

Hi Tamisha, Not all swaps require previously rated swaps. If you look for newbie friendly in the title or description, they usually don't require newbies to have ratings. :) You can also check the forums for people who will do private swaps with new swappers so you can get ratings.

ViridianMuse 08/13/2008 #

if you search google, you can find some pretty easy free patterns. :) I'll do some research after work tomorrow and add some links.

Is this swap USA or International or both?

ViridianMuse 08/15/2008 #

both. :)

purplewhimsy 08/15/2008 #

Lion Brand has a whole slew of crochet patterns for amigurimi at their Lion Brand website.....you have to register for a free membership to see any of their hundreds of free patterns, but they don't spam you.

Crochet pattern central, is all free, they have great tutorials and lots of patterns.

ViridianMuse 08/16/2008 #

Thanks purplewhimsy, that's very true about Lion Brand. They've got great free patterns for tons of stuff. :)

I love to make amigurumi, but I just joined Swap Bot a couple of days ago.. I have joined some other swaps, but none of them have come time to send them out yet.

Are you going to be doing more swaps like this in the future that are newb friendly, like your stuffie swap that you started?

ViridianMuse 08/22/2008 #

I sure will be Aleigha! :)

Aleigha369 08/23/2008 #

Yay.. okay, I look forward to it :D

luluvision 08/25/2008 #

It's been awhile since I participated in a swap as my daughter keeps me busy but I love doing amigurumi so I hope I can join in! Plus I miss all the fun mail!

You state 3 inches large, but is there a size that is too big?

ViridianMuse 08/27/2008 #

I would say that if you want to make something larger you can. I don't think too large comes into issue as long as you don't feel cheated when you get something smaller in return. :) Maybe 2 feet is too big.......but then someone might disagree. :) It's all based on your preference as the creator I guess.

Can this Ami swap be anything or do we go by our partner's profile on what they like?

ViridianMuse 09/ 3/2008 #

Either way Debbie! :) I left it open to the creators choice.
