This swap I am reviving from a long long time ago. When I joined this swap way back when, I met Rye. She may have been the one to originate the idea...

What you do, is cut out from a 1x2 or 2x2 a house silhouette. It needs to be AT LEAST, 7 inches tall at the highest point. Your decorated house will have a Spring Theme. Sender's choice all the way.

The pic posted here is of a couple I make back in 2011. You can get an idea from these. I don't know if Crafting Queens group is still out there, but we had a whole thread with pictures.

This is a larger item so it is limited to the US only as I am still among the non working. I am thinking it will cost between 2.25 and 3 bucks to ship...

I am not worried about flakes in this one because I am going to select participants carefully. This is a totally fun and creative swap. You will be amazed at what you receive, I promise.

As always, Happy Crafting.

Yeah! LOVE this revival, thanks DK! I will see if I have the wood before I sign up. Watching for now.

I remember the CQ wooden house swaps! It is so funny to me because I got all gung ho back then and cut and sanded a bunch of house blanks. I think I made one real one to swap, then started on a Christmas one and then something shiny happened and I never finished any others. I had the blanks in my cupboard for years and every time I would try to "organize" my craft room, I would toss them into the kindling bin for my woodstove. Then, later I would resurrect them from the kindling bin and re-hoard them back to the cupboards. This went on probably four or five times over the years, and I just checked and yep, they are back in the kindling bin. Even the half done Christmas one is in there. HAHAAH now I am going to pull them back out again, hahahaha.

I think it was minimum 5 inches no bigger than 7??

omg crescendo, my side hurts from giggling!

I just measured mine from the old swaps and they are 6" and 7"......

I bet we can all relate to your fun story @crescendo - My non-crafty friends think I'm nuts. It is good to feel kinship with my swap-bot friends : ) Thank you for today's chuckle.

So, these have to be cut from wood?

I am a bit confused so the smallest house you can make is 1x2x7? Not that i would make the smallest size but I want to make sure it is not too small.

dkay 04/16/2016 #

Hola.... Size of the wood is a 1 by 4 or 5. That is 1 inch in depth and 4 to 5 inches wide. The minimum height should be 5 inches. You can make it as tall as you want, but I think 7 inches would be safest on shipping costs. You paint them, paper them, decorate them, whatever you want. I am still unpacking, one of the reasons I haven't been on much is the new job, the new "shed", the new LIFE. LOL. I found some of my old blanks. I just took a scrap piece of wood and chopped the tops at an angle to make the roof line. I bet if you have a Home Depot, Lowes or mom and pop lumber yard around, they have scrap and may even cut the roof if you smile real nice...

cresendo....I threw away, then dug through the garbage, and packed and brought them 3K miles across the states. LOL. The things were hoard, eh?

Juliajae 04/16/2016 #

Ha! I still have a bunch of mine, too! I love making these. &" is taller than all of mine though. Most of mine are 5" at the peak

dkay 04/17/2016 #

5 at the peak is fine Juliajae...that is the minimum

I hope you'll host another of these soon! I have to do some research first and get my feet wet!! Looks amazing

dkay 04/18/2016 #

Well, at this point, it is my and Rye. If it is that way when the assigning of partners happens, I am one very lucky swapper!!!
