Description:
  *Even Sweeter Little Birds Swap*

You will be assigned 5 partners for this swap. To each partner, you will be sending one handmade bird ornament.

Your ornaments must be 1" to 3" in size. You can use fabric or cardboard that you will embellish. Some of the major craft stores sell sweet little wooden bird ornaments for 25 cents or so and you can use those, or design your own using cardboard. Please be sure they're sturdy, but not too heavy. You can make your birds realistic or abstract, pretty or funky, vintage or modern... use your imagination and allow it to run wild. Just be sure your ornament is shaped like a bird. Sew, paint, collage...be creative, anything goes! Since these are ornaments, please be sure to incorporate a way for your bird to hang. Also, be sure to decorate both sides of your birds as once they are hanging, both sides will be on display. Lastly, be sure to attach a removable tag with your name (and user name too, so your partner can thank you).

Once you're all done, you can find a perfect spot to hang them. I plan on hanging mine from ribbons above my daughter's bed. She'll love gazing at them each night as she drifts off. In my home, we will be adding these "even sweeter" little birds to an existing collection where they will become the cousins of slightly bigger birds from the previous Sweet Little Birds Swap I hosted. One can never have too many sweet little birds (of varying sizes) right? :-)

Swap is open to International & US Swappers.

Newbies with a completed profile are welcome. Other swappers should have a 4.0 rating or higher to participate.

Yay! I'm so glad you're doing this again. I really really wanted to be in the first but just couldn't. Thanks!

I love this swap!

Is the swap deadline the 23rd or the 25th. I see you have a deadline notice that at the bottom that is two days before the swap deadline. I'M assuming you mean the 25th.

I'm sorry to say that I'm going to have to drop from this swap :( I had so much fun with the last one but I'm planning ahead for any unforseen moving circumstances. Here's to hoping for a Sweetest Little Birds Swap in August :) Maybe with open ended size & shape parameters ? I'd just love to break in my new crafting room with some bird projects!

Oh I like this idea...

Anyone got any pictures of the last birdie swap any where?

Biff 06/18/2007 #

Found some on FlickR - great work folks.

Now will have to come up with something of my own to create.

wondering if it would be ok to use those teeny tiny pre-made birds available in craft stores...not the flat unfinished wooden ones, the 3-D ones. what say you? of course they'd be decorated/altered creativly and fashioned to hang properly.

biff...can you share the flikr link?

Jessie-Messie, Lithmire, and Rae: Your wee little birds are winging their way to each of you as I type... watch for them. I haven't sent my two international packages as of yet because I have to make it to the post office during regular hours to fill out the customs form.

I made another two little birds last night - just loving this & can't wait to send them. Still new to this place. Other half just doesn't get it, I am so excited to share my crafts & see what others have done & swap ideas & inspiration & sweet little birdies too, but he doesn't get ''why I don't just keep my own!'' huh men! Is it a man thing or maybe he's just not got the same love of crafts as me??? Who knows? But just wanted to share a little of my excitement in a place I thought it would be understood!D

I know what you mean, Biff! Though i think i might make six so i can keep one of my own... :)

My birds are flying out on monday ; )

beckra 07/ 8/2007 #

Mine are packaged and ready to go out with Monday's mail; I hope they arrive at their destinations soon--I don't think they like being cooped up in a box....

Biff 07/12/2007 #

My little birdies are winging their way to their new homes...

(posted today)

Whew! Got mine mailed today -- just in under the wire! I posted a scan to the gallery.

SummerLion 07/25/2007 #

Just finished the last little birdie, but I'm afraid they won't get into the mail until tomorrow... One day late. Aack.

alicepalace 07/25/2007 #

I made it to the PO with minutes to spare earlier - so they've left me today but they'll be sitting in the bag at the post office until the collection tomorrow.. sorry :)

I'd love to play this one again.
