I teach Latin and ancient Greek at a small college. In my leisure time I enjoy kayaking, occasional bee-keeping, reading novels, and taking pictures.
I'm especially interested in:
19th century British literature
art history, art museums, and art postcards
photographs
Shakespeare
vintage illustrations of fairies
wildflowers
birds
architecture
poetry from earlier historical periods
children's literature from earlier historical periods
the sky
word art of various sorts (centos, found poems, creative anagrams, etc.)
There's something I enjoy about every color.
I hesitate to list any particular dislikes, but here's one: I'd prefer not to receive any images related to hunting, fishing, or eating meat.
The Man Who Came to Dinner, Evil Under the Sun, The Women (1939 version), House of Flying Daggers, I Heart Huckabees, Ushpizin, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Stranger than Fiction, About a Boy, and They Came Back (Les Revenants).
For pleasure reading, I usually stick to novels. My favorite authors include Anthony Trollope, Wilkie Collins, Angela Carter, Charlotte Brontë, and Henry James.
Photography, embroidery, basic book-binding, writing and translating (I think they count as crafts), and every now and then making mosaics, collages, or odd designs out of paper scraps.
This probably goes without saying, but please let me know if you haven't received something from me when you should have--I haven't dropped the ball so far, and I'd like a chance to re-send if something got lost in the mail. And I promise to rate my partners in a timely way, too.

I'm not sure if I said thank you for the Christmas postcard you sent...so MAHALO!!! I have been a space cadet this season. :p Hope you had a Merry Christmas and a great New Year! :)
Nice greens on the pixilated green pc you sent! Thanks--I'm getting myself organized about having a folder of mail awaiting replies from me, and your pc is going in the folder. =grin=

It was the second clue that tipped me off. And then the other two sounded more familiar. I am jealous of you secret garden, most of our flowers are gone.
Hi Becca,
How are you?! It's been awhile... :) I was wondering if you wanted to finally do a photo swap. I am in a digital darkroom class and am doing lots of printing so I can easily print a photo for you! :) How fun!!! I have a flickr account if you want to choose a photo or I can surprise you! www.flickr.com/photos/kaikamahine12. Aloha, Dana
Thank you for the Wednesday Club postcard. I love that you photographed fabric.
I received your letter and beautiful artworks, Rebecca - thank you! (((Hugs))) I will write back soon.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the RAK cloud postcard! you are so sweet, thanks for thinking of me!
Got my remaining postcards on Friday and I've been so crazy busy, I meant to let you know, but...
You were right on about selecting postcards I would like. The lighting and focus on these b&w photographs are beautiful and the bug is just amazing. You are very talented. Thanks so much for sharing! Many hearts.
Rebecca, received your first packet of postcards today - thanks so much for angeling, they are a pleasure to read. I had to smirk about the "politics" you wrote of, my husband teaches at the local university... I know it well. How cool that you have your own postcards printed, what company do you use?
