Description:

This is for an Envelope Advent Calendar

This requires 25 envelopes, decorated and labeled with the day to open. Each envelope will have an item in it for that day. (Mainly a flat item).

Examples: (Mainly Christmas themed, although some can be profile specific for your partner). Bookmarks, candies, jewelry, stickers, cd's, ATCs, die-cuts, magnets, buttons, thread, charms etc.

If you put smaller items such a beads or stickers, put more than just one in the envie (such as a sheet of stickers)! Be sure to put different items in each envie.

Envelopes are NOT to be the normal white business envelopes. They can be handmade or store bought though. (When I mean business envies, I mean the one you buy in the huge packs (50, 100+) at the store) I think these are kind of tacky and this should be a nice swap. Envelopes can be different sizes. No plain envies.

Gifts do not need to be profile specific so you can start getting ready ahead of time. Profile specific may help you to gain hearts though.

  • I REQUIRE 40 RATINGS TO JOIN THIS SWAP.
  • 4.9 Rating requirement
  • Email and postcards do not count. (I will check)
  • If you are picky, do not join this swap. You may get something you may not like and cannot rate down for it.

  • USA/Canada only

is it okay if we take the regular tacky envies and decorate them so they're not tacky and use those?

zigg13pra 09/24/2009 #

What do you mean by 'tacky envies'? Ugly, or envies with a 'tacky' stuff on them?

steffany81 09/27/2009 #

In reference to craftymomme08 I think she's referring to your reference of the business envelopes being tacky. I had the same question...can some of the envelopes be the standard business white envelope that has been altered so that it isn't just a plain jane envelope anymore?

zigg13pra 09/27/2009 #

It isn't the fact that these are 'tacky' but that they are oddly shaped for this swap (the really long ones) and they do fall apart easily. (Especially when they are bought cheaper stores...) So no, please none of these envies.

You can make an envie out of white paper and decorate it. They would then be made better, and be a better size.

Do the envelopes all need to be the same size? I have a place where I can get surplus greeting card envelopes, but I'm not sure I could get 25 of the same size.

(I'm a little hesitant to make envelopes, because I was just reading someone's travails about the difficulties of getting the glue in only the proper places.)

thriftymermaid 10/ 2/2009 #

I was hoping different sizes would be okay, esp. if we're making them to fit a specific item!!?? In ref. to camelsamba, I like to make little envelopes for earrings and such with double sided tape! If you use thicker paper, it holds very well!!

zigg13pra 10/ 3/2009 #

Yes different sizes are ok! That makes it more fun!

@camelsamba I saw what you did too where people were having trouble. Try making a few first? I get glue in places that it shouldn't, but the glue dries and as long as it dries and doesn't keep the wrong parts stuck together, it still looks good and works fine!

Are all the envelopes to go in ONE package and posted - or are we to put a stamp on each envelope and mail it on twentyfive consecutive days?

Oh, and do all the little gifts have to be Christmas themed? Just wondering.

Thanks and neat swap

zigg13pra 10/ 4/2009 #

All envelopes go in ONE package and posted.

That's why it says to label with the day to open. We can't depend on the PO to deliver them correctly day by day!

zigg13pra 10/22/2009 #

It already states this at the top: "(Mainly Christmas themed, although some can be profile specific for your partner)."

bluecrayons 10/24/2009 #

i was asking cause we dont have much small christmas things out yet. we got halloween and thanksgiving.

Artistic 10/29/2009 #

did the send by date get moved? I have Nov. 2 marked in my book.

grandmaroro 11/ 2/2009 #

Am I in a time warp? I was feeling really bad about not getting my box sent until today - did this get cancelled and I missed the note? I am the only one who has sent their package. How did this happen?

grandmaroro 11/ 2/2009 #

I just read Artistic's comment and checked - sure enough, the send by date was changed. I feel so much better.

Artistic 11/ 3/2009 #

I mailed a box out to my partner today. The postage for a box from the U.S. to Canada practically sucked up my swap postage budget for the month. Driving it to Ontario and hand delivering it wouldn't have cost too much more!

zigg13pra 11/ 6/2009 #

Yes the send by was changed, it was requested on multiple swaps (in this Advent Calendar grouping) and so they were all changed, just by a week but since they are USA/Canada, thought should still get there on time so no worries!
