Description:

Haven't seen a handmade envelope swap in a while. You will make 5 envelopes and send them to your partner!

This one is international, open to those with a 4.5 or better. Newbies, PM me and we'll chat.

If you've not done this before, it is rather simple...find an envelope you like, gently tear it apart and use it as a template. After you cut one out, fold on the fold lines from your pattern and glue the sides to the bottom and you're done!

Welcome, everyone! 25 swappers on day 1...and I hesitated to start the swap and was wondering if anyone else would be interested! This will be fun.

And if any of you want some inspiration, I recommend trying to get your hand on this book, "Creative Correspondence." http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Correspondence-Michael-Jacobs/dp/1581803176

I came across it at my public library and there are lots of ideas for different envie possibilities.

mrsmc 06/26/2007 #

Thanks, Tryph, for the great suggestion! I'll check it out; I'm always looking for inspiration...

cookiebear 07/ 6/2007 #

I too can vouch for "Creative Correspondence". It's great fun!

boxsquat 07/10/2007 #

i do this all of the time BUT i will do it because, well, i like it. :)

sewcrazy 07/12/2007 #

does it matter what size the envelope is

mediatinker 07/13/2007 #

I've made a variety of sizes for this swap.

mrsmc 07/13/2007 #

My intent is to have them a mailable size...however, this is a creative endeavor! Its up to you.

AngelFaeryKathleen 07/19/2007 #

Hi have make a variety of sises as well and will include the patterns for each just in case any are different from the ones my partner makes :-))

mrsmc 07/19/2007 #

Angel Faery, Providing patterns is definitely over and above...and I am sure your partner will be thrilled!

(maybe you will be my partner!! could i be so lucky??)

mrsmc 07/24/2007 #

We'll get our matches tomorrow...

Thanks in advance for sending...expecting 100% participation and zero flakers!

AngelFaeryKathleen 07/25/2007 #

Hi Mrs M.C. your could aways "fix" the draw so I send to you! :-0

starofsong 07/25/2007 #

Angel, as coordinator of many swaps myself, I don't really think there is a way to decide who we send to or who we receive from. The only thing I can think of would be to have a private swap just between the two of you. However, from what you describe, I secretly hope that the computer assigns you to be my send partner.. LOL... :> Seriously though, I will be happy with any handmade envelope partner.

By the way, I keep checking on this swap about every half hour to see if partners have been assigned. I made my envelopes this morning and was hoping to mail them off today.

mrsmc 07/25/2007 #

We are all set and it looks like we have a great group of swappers. If anyone has any problems, please PM me and we'll address them.

Rillaith 07/26/2007 #

Envelopes are fun, aren't they! I made several last night, and routed out several more nice/interesting bits of paper for some more!

Found some great envelope templates around the web in the end too - for wasting as little paper as possible!

AngelFaeryKathleen 07/26/2007 #

Hi all, well I will be sending to Cheryl and they will be winging their way to day. Enjoy :-)))

Hi there, I sent my envelopes but I am in the UK and there are a number of postal strikes at the moment so they may be slightly delayed - please be patient! Thanks! :)

charolette33 08/ 1/2007 #

Paperholic- I sent your envelopes today. They are coming from the US. I hope you like them!

Rillaith 08/ 3/2007 #

I printed most out and havne't got the urls for all, but between Mirkwood Designed (http://www.ruthannzaroff.com/mirkwooddesigns) and Canon Greetings (http://dyn.c-ij.com/english/greetings/browsing.page?lang=en&cat1=envlet&cat2=env) you can get a pretty good selection.

This is kinda fun for folded envelopes - although I didn't attempt any this time! http://www.ghh.com/elf/

Envelopes are an important part of nyt mini crossword mail. They protect your mail and keep it organized. They can be made from a variety of materials, including paper, cardboard, and plastic. They can also be personalized with your name, address, and other information.
