Description:

This is similar to a swap I hosted a month ago where we swapped moleskine journals :] Since that went so well, I am making a similar swap. For this swap you will send one partner a nice journal, handmade or store bought, naked. This means that you will adhere the postage directly onto the cover of the journal, and close the sides with tape or other means. You must use a good quality journal, so no dollar store comp journals, sorry. You can use moleskine notebooks, handmade journals, store bought journals etc, but the paper must be good quality, like is found in journals and sketchbooks. Paper can be lined or unlined. The journal you send must be at least 3.5x5.5 and smaller than the 8.5x11 standard notebooks. Please use nice looking stamps on these, not the pink and white printed stamps. It will be international. 4.9+ newbies message me to join. Have fun :]

I missed the other swap, I had watched but then was too busy. I'll watch this one, too, and hope to be able to join this time!

Won't the journal be all beat up when it arrives? :( Especially if it's going overseas... I'm a little worried about this.

I participated in the other moleskine swap. It was so much fun!! Yes, it is a little beat up (you have to tape it shut)...but that just adds to the interest. My partner sent me a journal with lots of interesting stamps on it...little drawings, etc...and the sweet lady also tucked in a few little extras amongst the pages. What a treasure!! I'm in!! BTW, moleskine's aren't very heavy, so the international postage isn't unreasonable.

I'd love to do this but don't have any use for a lined journal since I only draw. Can we specify lined or unlined?

revolutionoise 03/13/2010 #

Yes if you want you can specify in comments lined or unlined. The first swap went well for me. I got a journal from the netherlands in a private swap with just a ribbon tied around it like a present, and it arrives in perfect condition, so theres not much to worry about when its international

Well, I'm in. I would truly appreciate an unlined journal (can be very small--I love 3x5s) and if it's suitable for drawing or watercolor I'll be over the moon! Thank you so much.

I really like small books. If they can fit in breast pocket of a man's shirt they are the perfect size for me. I like both lined and unlined. If you are my assigned partner, would you make mine "not so naked"? By this I mean, use a page and decorate it or write a note to me. It can even be your grocery list. ;-) Totally blank books tend to stay blank books for me. Unless the cover screams up a theme.

BTW, I am a recto-verso writer. This means I fill all the right hand sides (recto) first then turn the book over and rotate 180 degrees, then write recto again. From the true cover all the recto pages are filled first, then the verso (left) pages last. The verso pages appear upside down. Lefties who use this technique are verso-recto writers because they write the left side first.

I'm not picky about the size--I like the larger ones--but I'd prefer a journal with grid paper (aka graph paper). (Moleskine makes them.) If you can't find/make a grid-paper journal for me, then an unlined journal is my 2nd choice. Thanks!

BonsaiMechaGirl 03/16/2010 #

I'm in :) My pref is unlined, but I can use anything that gets sent my way.

I'm in...but I have no preference to if it's lined or unlined...I'm happy with anything! :)

preslarb 03/18/2010 #

I have no preferences. Is the swap still sender's choice? I'll be sending a Molskine, but it is unlined.

Basilika 03/18/2010 #

I love naked mail! I would have most use of a journal with unlined or graph/grid paper.

Still trying to figure out what the comment about the rectal verses was all about...I am an English minor with an emphasis on creative writing, and never once did we write in a rectal fashion...although I did have some professors who seemed to have their heads stuck in their "recto" region...(haha)

BTW, I am NOT rectal or anal retentive, no fancy explanation needed, so any type is fine with me...(lol)

No preference here for lines or not.
