I am a single lady in a relationship ... unusual description maybe but it's how I would describe it.
I don't blog and created the above website but hate updating it and haven't taken the time to find a different host. Updated 30/09/2012 - My website has been cancelled due to lack of activity.
I knit, crochet and do some (not very good) paper crafting as well. My preference for papercrafts is stuff about my knitting/crochet, so I like sheep, wool, needles etc themed things. I also do some very simple beading/jewellery making. I am dabbling with clay too - but it's not really my thing.
I prefer dogs over cats, but am generally an animal lover.
I only have one "child" but she's all grown up now and I don't have grandchildren, so kiddy things aren't overly appealing to me.
UPDATE: My daughter is getting married next year (mid 2013) in a castle in Scotland. Not sure if I am being included in the preparation or not - she wants to include me but the fiancee thinks the two of them don't need my help. Whatever.
Much of what I craft is given to homeless people, to hospitals (particularly cancer care units) and to women's refuges, so if I am in any crafty swaps things that might help me make items for those people (or ideas of things to make for them) are always useful to me.
I like lots of different music - but don't like techno or really heavy rock. I was a big disco-goer in the 70s and 80s, and when I found myself single again in 2000 I easily drifted back into the night club/dancing scene. But I'm more of a home body these days, and most of my music time is in the car.
I mostly enjoy light entertainment books (mysteries and romances included) but enjoy occasional true life stories or historical books.
I collect books signed by authors.
I collect books signed by the authors (have a couple that I really really treasure) and also have now started a knitting needle gauge collection.
Silly me forgot to include this earlier, but one of my swap buddies brought this to my attention - thanks for that.
I like pretty much ALL colourful colours. I just don't like black or dull dark colours. I love bright (not necessarily neon bright) colours. I don't wear black at all, but love pretty blues, greens, pinks, yellows. I don't really wear orange much, though I use it a little for crafting.
Having said that, any dark yarns I might receive will be very useful for the charity knitting I do (homeless people love dark colours) and since they aren't colours I am drawn to buy, they will come in handy if I receive them in swaps.
I have a little local group we call Busy Hands Warm Hearts that supports some local charities - in particular our local women and children's refuge and some organisations to support the homeless.
I can always accept little toiletries (e.g. the type you get from motels and small toothpastes are ALWAYS useful) to pop into toiletry bags we make.
