About Me

I am in my thirties, which means I've had plenty of time to find out what I like and don't like! And here's a list:

Colors I love are pale pink, pink, pale aqua, ivory, white, black, lanvender, yellow-green, pale yellow, crimson, turqoise, jade, champange gold, antique gold, silver, pearl, and neon pink. (I usually like soft vintage colors or bright vivid colors)

Colors I don't like are hunter green, dark green, royal blue, denim blue, electric blue, royal purple, magenta, taxi cab yellow, copper, shiny gold, bronze, and neon green. (I'm usually not into primary colors or colors that would show up in a hunting lodge or on contemporary children's toys.)

Colors I don't love by themselves but are fine with and can look great when combined with other colors skillfully: red, navy, brown, sage, olive, tan, eggplant, gray, tangerine, and mustard.

Well, let's continue with things I love:

French decor (dislike country farmhouse styles)

Mid-century modern

Silk, velvet, voile, tulle

Resin ball joint dolls (don't like most other dolls though)

Antique bisque dolls and vintage dolls

Mannequins, mannequin heads, doll heads

Beautiful girls, cute girls, pin-ups, girl's face

Perfume labels

Lucite, Acrylic, either clear or color

Plastic (quality plastic, not cheapies)

Earl Gray (don't like herbal tea)

Palaces and mansions (don't like huts and shacks)

Slender animals (don't find stocky ones cute)

Baby animals (I loathe reptiles - have phobia)

Gentle animals like llamas, deer, lamb

Perfume, fragrances, makeup, current fashion

Art Deco, Art Nouveau

1700's-1960's

20's flappers

60's Mod

Anything antique, vintage, or ultra modern

Raw seafood, steak, vegetables (no carbs)

Seriousness (not into pranks or jokes)

Glitter (non-childish), rhinestones, diamonds, pearls

Botanicals, natural curiosities

Deep dark secrets (don't like gossip)

Antique costumes (don't like silly costumes)

Old theaters

Tarot cards, old playing cards

Photographs of people, especially old photos.

Peonies, begonias, white camellia, exotic flowers

Lychees, mango, passionfruit, persimmons, pluots, (no boring fruits please~)

Dark Chocolate with hazelnut and praline (I dislike milk chocolate)

I don't like to be preached to. I don't like vicious name-calling, but profanity and swear words are fine by me, and can often be much appreciated. Get the difference?

I know I sound real stuffy and no fun. True, as a child, I did not play or run around like other children, choosing only to do crafts and read, and already very serious. And I'll admit I am strict, love rules, and often have a no-nonsense attitude, but I do roll around with my dog, and my house is constantly messy, and I do silly dances several times a day, so that makes up for it!

Favorite Music

I prefer silence most of the time, and find most music an irritant to put it mildly, but on the occasions when I do find myself enjoying music, it would most likely belong to one of the following:

House / Electronica / Classical / Music from Italian horror movies / 60's-70's instrumentals / Indie Rock

I am against American hip hop/rap. (I like the original 80's story-telling rap and I like rapping in songs like when Blondie, Deelite, or Beastie Boys does it.) Basically, if I can feel as if the spit is spraying on me, I detest it.

Favorite Movies

I love stories and movies! Amongst my favorites, but of course there are too many to list:

Moulin Rouge / Pretty Baby / Imitation of Life (1934 version, for sure)/ Citizen Kane / Valmont / The Lover / Alive / Dangerous Beauty / Pride and Prejudice / Umbrella of Cherbourg / Indochine / Foxfire / Dr. Zhivago / Wide Sargasso Sea / Untamed Heart /

Favorite Television

LOST is the best TV show EVER...makes life so much more worth living. Then there are shows that keep me entertained while on earth:

24 / Traveler / Medium / Without A Trace / Close to Home / Cold Case / Desperate Housewives / Law and Order / History Channel / Home and Garden Channel / So you think you can dance /

Okay, but I don't know what TV shows really says about people so how about some book titles?

Fall On Your Knees / Fortune's Rocks / The Thorn Birds / My Sweet Audrina / The Lover / The North China Lover / The Knight of Maison Rouge / Paradise/ Fingersmith/ The Other Boleyn Girl/ any Victoria Holt books /

Favorite Crafts

Let's see...I'll do anything. sew outfit for my dolls / paint my dolls' faces / paint with all mediums / draw with micron ink pens / make jewelry / mess around with things

Writing Swaps

Old fashioned letters written with a dip (nib) pen on beautiful paper sealed with wax. Ok...seems a bit too involved for most and would only work if I wasn't really going to READ it. For practical purposes, if I were to read a long letter, or even a short one, I'd rather get a typed letter with visual embellishments such as drawings, stickers, or decorated envelopes. I'm pretty bad at deciphering handwriting.

Swap Preference

I love to receive art supplies, craft supplies, and sewing supplies!

I am allergic to hard candy, straw mushrooms, MSG, and anything minty. They give me immediate migraine headaches. I think I have an unusual list of allergy items and asked my doctor about it and he said they are valid allergens! I used to be extremely allergic to the sun too, but now just somewhat allergic. You can send me some sunshine though, cuz it's nice!

MYSTERY: Here's a mystery I've never been able to solve: when I wear white gloves (the ones for pool/snooker/billiard), a cool minty sensation seem to emit from the gloves and seep into my skin and cause me to be instantly ill - the minty sensation spreads through my entire body and head and I feel extremely uncomfortable and dizzy. I'd have to remove the gloves and rest for 15 minutes before returning to normal. Everyone thinks I'm crazy when I mention this, and doctors have no clue either. I suspect it has something to do with the type of nylon fabric used. If anyone else in this world has ever had this experience, please let me know!!

Thank you!!

NOTE

I've notice half my swap partners don't write my full name on the envelope and only write my first and middle name. The swaps are reaching me so far, but I wonder if some of you are not able to view a first, middle and last name when swap partners are assigned?
