About Me

** I have a LOT of exams and stuff coming up (just finished a three day history of art exam!) and they are really important so I'm not doing any more swapping for the moment unless it is a swap that i cannot possibly miss! ...but I'm coming back! **

I'm in my last year of school/college, trying to enjoy life whilst doing well! I've applied for History of Art at uni, hopefully I'll get in!

I'm especially interested in mythology of all sorts; stories, creatures and deities. Most of my art history work at the moment focuses on magic and mythology in contemporary art, which is wonderful because one day I will be researching folklore abou hares, and the next comparing different reinterpretations of Little Red Riding Hood- score! Faeries and the like interest me too, both old and new versions of them.

Medieval ideas about life the universe and everything excite me too, I spend far too long looking at Bestiaries, the doctrine of signatures and trying our their recipies.

Whoo for tattoos and maddly coloured hair! Anything tattoo-themed makes me very very happy :D

I would say I'm spiritual rather than religious, leaning towards the nature based side and I'm happy to recieve swaps to do with all religions as long as they do not try to convert me or be all 'kill the unbeliever!' Thanks :)

I also take part in readitswapit, toyvoyagers and postcrossing, phweph!

stuff I do to pass the time

~ ballet ~ reading ~ cooking ~ drawing ~ learning about whatever I'm interested in today ~ dreaming about the future ~ visiting museums & galleries ~ travelling ~ walking ~ photography ~

In the summer I played dress up as a Tudor at Kentwell Hall for a week, amazing!

Wishlist :)

Anyhing to do with: ~ Mythology
~ Different countries
~ Different religions & deities (esp pagan ones)
~ Birds (esp sparrows, peacocks and cranes)
~ Tattoos
~ Wolves, seals, foxes or cats
~ Medieval bestiaries etc... that whole style of illustration & wonder at the natural world
~ Recipies
~ Art from around the world
~ My guilty pleasure... Hello Kitty (shhh :P)
~ Art noveau
~ Kitch
~ Alice in Wonderland (the original please)

Favourites:

Music: So much, literally I cannot put my ipod on shuffle because I'll have one heavy metal track followed by a flowing medieval chant! Not so keen on what is usually on the radio, ie r'n'b, hiphop, rap and most pop... but otherwise, I will always give new music a try!
Favourite bands atm are Foals, Larrikin Love (sadly split :'() and the Antlers :D but within a week that will probably be different...

Books: all the Austens, Room With A View and Howard's End by EM Forster, A Pale View of Hills and Never Let Me Go by Japanese guy I cannot remember the name of, the Modern Tale of Faeries series by Holly Black, This is All by Aiden Chambers and The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer :D plus very many more but listing them all would be very boring :P

Food: I will try anything that comes my way! And I love trying to cook new stuff, especially with my boyfriend :D we spend hours in the kitchen, trying out new and exciting recipies. Stemming from this, I'm into cooking up other goodies too, my most recent venture was extracting conifer oil... butttt if you want to know what treats I absolutely adore (yes, some of them are quite weird O.o) here they are: ~Baklava (mmmmmmmm)
~Garlic stuffed olives
~Any sort of loose black tea, my favourites are chai, lapsang souchong (cant spell!) and earl grey :D
~Chilli chocolate
~Baked cheescake
~Chorizo
~Harissa (when incorporated into cooking, me and my mum are addicted ;D)
~Sticky ginger cake

Favorite Crafts

I'm relatively new to craft, so far I've been doing some sewing, shrinkies and earings. I art journal in so far as I have to do sketchbooks for Aplied Art History I'm studying, so I can do them too. During my summer at Kentwell I learnt to bookbind too, I have one I made, Yay! But I can't really get the materials I need to do it again :sadface:

I like recieving any non-twee crafty... a little kawaii is ok but not anything sickingly sweet... there's a difference for me, another way of saying it could be nothing prim or covered in smiling rosie cheeked kids on swings etc

Also, no bookmarks please.. unless I'm in a bookmark swap ofc! :P Also I won't really use scrapbooking materials

Private Swaps?

I would LOVE to do a private swap with you, as long as you are a reasonably-well established swapper :) I'm in England so can get you mostly anything you associate with here, such as:

Marmite and English mustard

Tea or anything associated

English Stamps

Traditional boiled sweets, we have several Olde Sweete Shoppes (!) in my local town

Things to do with Will and Kate's Royal Engagement (I've seen calendars and books about them while out shopping just now in January!)

Things to do with the 2012 Olypics ^_^

~~~ In return I'd be happy to recieve anything traditionsl to your country... foods or crafts, some stamps, or even a cd of traditional music! Message me if you want to swap ;)
Comment: Thankyou for including a picture of your mother and for decorating the page. I understand what you mean about your mum keeping you close after the loss of her own mother. My mum was only 11yrs old when her mum passed so when I was about that age she was freaking out because she thought she might pass too. It wasn't until I was about 15yrs old that she realised she would be around for many more years to come. Thanks for sending your story.
Hey, of course! Any time you want to. I'll be going to New Orleans in March, if there's something that you wanted from there? Also, I tried that mustard yesterday, wow it's got a kick! I love it, though, and the candy is the best!
