I'm 32 and live in a small village in Germany. I'm a high school teacher (upper secondary level) for English and German. I love tea and knitting and all things crafty and I am currently trying to learn more about art journals too.
I'm single but live with extended family and a couple of pets- a tortoise, half a dog (technically he's my cousin's who lives next door though!), six hens and a rooster and five goats (one boer doe, three pygmy does and a pygmy buck)I love my critters and since I am a vegetarian (eggs from my own hens only) they are not to be eaten ever! :)
I am a member of the Mary Janes Farmgirl Sisterhood (#262) and am working on earning my merit badges.
As a teacher I love red pens and sharpies. I also enjoy teacher themed stickers and stuff to make my lesson planning and grading nicer- post it notes, foreign chalk and the likes. I am always checking out the stationery departments.... I love all writing paraphernalia anyway- my Moleskines go everywhere with me. I would love to have a Starbucks nearby but no luck--- the closest to me is still 2 hours by train away. So I make do with my Petra coffeepad coffee maker and love flavoured coffees and stuff like coffeemate in amazing and weird flavours like blueberry. And single serving chai/hotchoc/coffee....
I'm single and live with parents and grandparents. And my pets of course! :) Not in the house as pets but they roam the garden and are great fun to be with. I'm vegetarian so I use the eggs- but I'd never use the hens as a cooking ingredient.
I love to bake and cook and my favourite foods are Indian, Italian and Sushi. I'm in love with mini cakes and things like Petit Fours.
eclectic. Very eclectic. :) Irish, medieval, indie, folk...... my playlist is loooooooong and I love audiobooks and podcasts I love seasonal music, George Winston, nature sounds, traditional carols and pagan themed songs....
English Patient, Chocolat, Young Guns, LOTR, Harry Potter, Ghost and the Darkness.....
Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, CSI (all kinds but Miami not that much), Bones, Without a Trace, Cold Case......... House......
I'd LOVE to watch shows like Knitty Gritty, Rachael Ray and Martha Stewart so if you have tivo and could make me a tape....... :) I'd be forever grateful and could bribe you with chocolate, tea, German indie dyer sock yarn and more....... if you're interested in a one on one swap please get in touch!
knitting, knitting, knitting, calligraphy, drawing, bookbinding, crochet, scrapbooking, cooking oh, and did I mention knitting?
So, I am mainly a knitter of small projects like socks and things like gloves, mittens and scarves. I am now learning to do lace and shawls but I have tried sweaters and have failed miserably. I have neither the patience nor the skills to come up with a garment that fits me. I hate German knitting magazines. My favourite "local" magazine is Marie Claire Idees, which I get over in France. I love plastic knitting needles, especially the crystalite ones and my current favourites for socks and all other knitting is Harmony Wood by Knitpicks. I also own almost all dpn types ever made- I love test-knitting on new needles.
In the sock department I am a dpn top down type of knitter. I love yarn that "does something"- self striping/patterning, variegated, handpainted....And I am now working through the Cat Bordhi book!
I crochet badly but I'm currently working on a ripple afghan. And I mean badly. ;-)
I do not have a craft room per se at the moment so my beloved Pfaff hasn't seen much service in the past year but I do quilt too. I just don't have the time for it- easier to unwind in the evening with knitting and some podcasts.
I love knitting bags and found awesome ones over on etsy- I LOOOOOVE etsy! :) I'm all for indie crafters and things like handdyed yarn and stitch markers.
LIKES: Lipsticks and glosses in nude shades, dark chocolate, spices, chickens, country themes, sharpies, scrapbooking papers, nutmeg, french toast, WW-friendly recipes, Miso Pretty, Emily the Strange, Frog Style, stitch markers, bookmarks, red pens, lemon pie, poptarts, coffee mate, single serve teas/cocoa/coffee/chai drinks to sip at work (we have a kettle and a coffee urn with bad coffee!), flavoured coffee, Starbucks, coffee houses in general, , Susan Branch stickers, all tea, coffee, chocolate and school related stamps and stickers, goldfish, koi, sushi (veggie sushi in real life, all sushi in the form of stickers, magnets, fabric etc)
DISLIKES: Sanrio, Diddl, strawberry flavour in cosmetics (I lean more towards the coffee chocolate, peanut butter thing there), amaretto, tomato skins, fatty food, doing dishes, sunbathing
I'm vegetarian but I am open to all sorts of candy, especially of the chocolate kind, also like biscuits. I try to do some portion control/diet (Weight Watchers). I like regional/seasonal candy, especially when it has to do with Halloween. I'm not fond of chewing gum, breath mints (though I like mint in chocolate) and liquorice. I also love candy with a coffee/tea/caramel/peanut butter twist.
