My postcrossing profile
I'm a 37 year old freelance journalist, happily married and I live in Germany.
We moved into a nice little house with a garden last year and now I'm hoping to develop a green thumb.
When I was younger, I wrote a lot of letters and did a lot of crafting. It seems like I just re-discovered the joys of this again and I'm really glad I stumbled upon swap-bot on the internet.
I'm also interested in private swaps and pen-palling.
Lots and lots, except for Techno and Ska. Usually, I just put on my iTunes player when I sit here at my desk. And it plays:
Moby, Elvis, U2, Beatles, Bo Kaspers Orkester, Anajo, Morcheeba, Coldplay, Moneybrother, Johnny Cash ...
We don't have a TV, but I enjoy watching series on DVD. Like Breaking Bad, House M.D., The Shield, The Wire, Dexter, Scrubs and Sopranos.
I also like watching sports - soccer (Bundesliga). I'm a Bayern-München-Fan.
Way too many. I love reading. Right now I'm into American writers. Philip Roth, Russell Banks, Joyce Carol Oates...
William S. Maugham is my favourite writer. And one of my favourite books is by Matthew Kneale: "English passengers".
Anything that has to do with paper, like arranging collages and making envelopes. I recently started sewing (very bad at it) and I enjoy rubber stamping.
I wish I could draw and paint. I like it, but the results just look pitiable. So I have to stay with things I can't really mess up: stamps and stickers. :-)
Letter writing, postcrossing, reading, cooking, swimming, running, biking, yoga, sailing and being with friends and family.
Owls (I know, this seems to be the fashion right now, but I can't help it), bunnies, parakeets (I have two) and penguins.
Bright, colourful stamps on anything you send make me really really happy (they look great and I cut them out to decorate mail-art envelopes).
Striped and polkadotted socks.
My Apple computer.
Cartoons (Calvin & Hobbes, Mafalda).
Wearing scarf, tuque and mitts.
Pink, purple, orange, blue. Anything bright.
I have been collecting postcards since I was a student. In Germany, you get free postcards (Edgar-Karten) in almost every pub.
I also collect antique etiquette-books, i.e. books telling people how to behave/dress/throw a party properly. Pretty funny to read what people thought was appropriate in the 50ies or 60ies.
Ice-cream (well, no one would send it, but still.)
Fairies, princesses, trolls and elves.
Spiders (They just gross me out. Honestly, if I only see a tiny one, I start screeching).
Goat cheese (another item which will never be swapped - hopefully- but I'm using this opportunity to openly display my strong and utter dislike)
I will contact you in case I should run late (please also take into account that sending from Germany will take a few days) and hope you will do the same.
I am happy with anything you send me - the great and important thing about swap-botting is that another person takes her time just to make or send something to me.
So thank you very much for your time! ♥
