Description:

Since the 1st round went so well, I decided to go for round 2! :)

If you're like me, you love to get letters in your mailbox... But the envelope is just as exciting to me as the letter is!

For this swap, you will send a little Mail Art love to one partner. And we're going to focus more on the envelope than what's inside, though you should enclose something... a letter, a card, stickers, a bookmark. It'd be nice to check out your partners profile and see what they'd like. : ) And you may even start a lovely pen pal friendship!

Remember... having a nice well-filled-out profile will help your partner know what kinds of things to send you. So please make sure your profile includes some of your likes and hobbies.

Now, on to the envelope... Be creative! Decorate it however you'd like, but really put forth some effort. You can draw, paint, stamp, paste... Pick a theme, or be totally random. The possibilities are endless! And don't feel intimidated... This is for beginners, after all! :) But of course, non-beginners are welcome to play too!

Receivers, please don't be picky. If they put forth the effort, rate them accordingly. And please don't flake... nothing is sadder than opening an empty mailbox.

You'll have two weeks from when the swap closes to get it sent out. This swap is open for everyone, so join and have fun!! : )

P.S. If we do have any flakers, I'll be happy to angel...

EDIT: Unfortunately I am finding that quite a few people seem to be flaking on my last swap, so I am now going to monitor who joins this one. No one with unexplained 1's or 3's in the recent months will be allowed to participate, which means if you don't send me a message explaining why you received them by the sign-up deadline, I will ban you from this swap.

I'n new ... excuse my silly questions ... What size envelope is this created on?

Ellen123 09/17/2011 #

I am totally new on swap-bot. Do we get an address by mail? and when? :) Looking forward to it!

Kattera22 09/17/2011 #

I'll probably be joining this one! I need to get my others caught up. Thank you so much for hosting this swap these are such fun!!!!!!

angellarae 09/17/2011 #

@ArtsyFartsyMomma - You can use any size envelope, but I would say at least a normal letter size.

@koekje87 - After the sign-up deadline (in this case, Oct. 1) partners will be assigned, and you'll be able to click on a link in the tan-ish box up top that says "See the partners you send to." You should get an email when that happens, but check back on Oct. 2 if you haven't. :)

Hope that helps... and welcome to Swap-bot! :)

I use the 6 x 9 inch envelopes (the manilla colored ones). They are super cheap. I can pick up a 10 pack at the dollar store around here. :) It gives me plenty of canvas to work with.

xSushi 09/19/2011 #

Hi everyone :) This swap seems so fun to join but first I would like to see some envelope examples to make sure I know what I'm supposed to do. So, if you took part in round 1, can you please share some pictures with me? It would definitely help :)

mpatry 09/19/2011 #

Sorry but I don't think I'll be joining since there are waaaay too many people who still haven't sent in the last one - and the send by date was 4 days ago. It's sad. :( But the flaking rate for this seems too high :(

clebeans 09/19/2011 #

I so enjoyed round one. my postie was fascinated by my envie so I will go round two and see what comes in the post.

Wizzer 09/20/2011 #

I am new to this swap-bot, but i have just sent out my first sticker swap and i would really like to participate in this one as well.. I am a penpaller and i love getting mail in my mailbox and i love it when i get a fancy envelope.. I have no rating yet, but i am very interested:) thank you for your time

thebragal 09/21/2011 #

You wrote the anyone who feels they have been banned unfairly should message you. But once you ban someone, even if they contact you, the swap will have already been assigned. Unless you monitor participants and ban in advance. However, most hostesses ban right before assigning

thebragal 09/21/2011 #

Oops, wasn't finished...

... Partners. So even if they contact you, it will be too late! I've offered to do a private swap with people like that but stopped as I got too many flakers that way. I was right to ban them. Just my thoughts regarding what you added to the swap. Not a criticism. However you like to roll...

angellarae 09/21/2011 #

@thebragal Thanks for the note... This is only my 2nd time hosting, so I'm learning as I go. :)

angellarae 09/21/2011 #

***** PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE CHANGED THE SIGN-UP REQUIREMENTS... SEE THE "EDIT" SECTION IN THE SWAP DESCRIPTION *****

snout 09/26/2011 #

Just signed up and so excited. This will be my first swap :) Thank you for opening it to newbies!! @whisperwings thanks for the link - lot's of great inspiration!

fawnscrafts 09/27/2011 #

I love these swaps!

@xshushi I have received magazine pages embellished, magazine pages barely changed, art work by the sender, on a plain colored envelop. I have received a medley of different mediums.

In fact I was cleaning out my excess papers today and ran across all Of my art envies.

I have kept each one.

One or two I am going to pas it forward. One or two I am going to keep, some I am going to use parts of it to do other art work and some many end up on a different envy.

I love to be able to do a bit of art work and the more I do, the better and more daring I get.

MrsSawbones 09/29/2011 #

Welcome Newbies! Let me encourage you all to fill out your PROFILES fully- and- to READ the profile of the person to whom you are sending. Everyone wants to get something in the flavor they actually like!!! And if you want to see examples, look above at the link that @whisperwings has provided. They're GREAT! Happy Swapping Everyone:-)

grandmaroro 09/30/2011 #

I am dropping from this one. The first round was enough for me --- and I don't quit easily. Sorry.

MrsSawbones 09/30/2011 #

@grandmaroro I just read your rating from the last swap. You poor dear...that was sooooo unfair! I'm thinking the lady doesn't understand just how to do this when something doesn't arrive- especially in a foreign country!! I hope she or the administrator will lift that rating. Smiles from Ohio, MrsSawbones:-)

fawnscrafts 10/ 5/2011 #

Whoever has @grandmaroros last partner better get her letter photo'd and the time she mails it photo'd so she doesn't get a bad rating.

That rating of @grandmaroro s is more unfair than the 3s I have received unfairly.
