About Me

Personal Update June 2014 I've been struggling with some deep depression lately (It takes everything I have to just get out of bed and feed my cats in the morning) and am currently taking the steps to address it. Because of this I will only be joining a couple swaps at a time and will be slow in responding to messages.

I moved to Michigan from California in January 2014. Talk about a huge change! I made the move for schooling.

If you just want a quick look at likes, dislikes and wishlist please go all the way to the bottom!

If there is anything on my Amazon Wishlist that is listed as over the price amount to spend in a swap, please look at used items. I do not mind receiving used items in Amazon Wishlist Swaps

I rate everything that I receive. So if you don't get a rating please message me!

My name is Jessica! You'll often see me go by Shinyfox or Bubblesfox on the internet. I am 22 years old and currently am attending an Arrowsmith Program in Michigan to help strengthen my brain. Arrowsmith is a lot of information to explain and I've never been good at doing so. You can find out more about the Arrowsmith Program here: www.arrowsmithschool.org/arrowsmithprogram/

My favorite colors follow along the 'cool' line. Blues, greens and browns are what I surround myself with.

I love all animals, but of course I have my favorites. Cats, foxes and hawks. I also love mythical creatures, the Gryphon(Griffin/Griffon) is my very favorite.

I am not a very crafty person, I can't draw or sew, paint or do paper craft, but I can write! I've participated in NaNoWriMo for 5 years. I love writing short stories and it would be fun to swap them! Recently I have taken up crosstitching! So I'm always interested in patterns or floss to use! I'm interested in crocheting and am hoping to find out more about this art!

I am interested in other cultures myths and folktales! I have a love of mythical tales and lore. Even if it's just a 'silly story' in your home town (is that house on the hill haunted? What's the story behind it?) I love to sit and listen, or read as the case may be.

I have five fuzzy animals, and a lot of wet scaled ones, residing in this house! Our dog is a German Shepard/Lab mix named Pogo. My cats are named Blue (Bluebug), Tux (Doodle-butt), and KitKat (Kiki). They are my boys and I love them dearly. My mother's cat is named Cedric and is feral to everyone but her and my father. It's touching to see their relationship and what time can do for a feral cat. The wet scaled ones are fish. Lots of fish. I have a 25gal tank, a 5gal tank and about 5 bowls/tanks for Betta fish!

How did I find Swap-bot you ask? Funnily enough I am currently on another swapping site called PostCrossing (TheBlackCat) and have been a member there for almost a year. I love PostCrossing so much that I decided to see if I could branch out into other swapping sites!

Goodness, I love so many shows and I am in so many fandoms! I believe I'll just start by listing and then I can elaborate at another time!

Doctor Who,Torchwood, Supernatural, Sherlock (BBC), Grimm, Bones, Castle, Firefly, Warriors (cats), Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog, Harry Potter, Avatar the Last Airbender, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic), Avengers, Night Vale, Nerdfighters, Sword Art Online, Ginga Densetsu Weed (an anime about dogs), Lord of the Rings, Teen Wolf, Once Upon a Time, Adventure Time, Pokemon, Digimon

Tea & Snacks

I love tea, whether it is loose leaf or bagged. When I first started Swap-bot this section said I loved fruity teas, but I've been sent so many different types of tea lately that my interests have expanded. Please send any tea you would like to =)

Please do not send 'Celestial Seasonings' tea! I've received a lot of this tea from swaps & own a lot myself, so I have plenty of them! Thank you =)

As for small snacks that people might send through the mail, I'll try just about anything! In fact I enjoy trying new things. So send me whatever you'd like to share! The only thing I ask is that it not be spicy

Me and spicy just don't get along!

I have no food allergy's

Collections? Knick Knacks?

Do I have any collections? Am I drawn to anything in particular?

Cats and the Egyptian Goddess Bast (or Bastet).

  • I have numerous cat related objects in my room and multiple Bast statues. I don't know if having 3 cats is considered a collection, a hobby or just a problem. I love my boys!

  • I'm a huge book hoarder. I have well over 600 books in my room. Stacked precariously on shelves, shoved in trunks and I even store them on the cat tree when the cats aren't using it! Wherever there is an empty space that will hold a stack, you'll probably find books there.

  • Amethyst is my birthstone and I absolutely love it. Lapis Lazuli is another stone that I adore, though it tends to be more expensive and I don't have very much. To get even the smallest chip of Lapis would brighten my day.

  • You can never have to many D20's if you're a D&D or MTG player. I have about 30 D20 Dice all of them different. I love my dice

My Animals

I have three cats that are mine, the fourth is my mother & fathers.

Tux was the first cat we got and he's a skinny little tuxedo cat. He's very quiet and hardly ever meow's (except when he wants a treat, and even then it's a chirp). He's skinnier than any other cat I've seen, but he's been that way his entire life and we've done blood tests that have come back as normal for an adult cat. He's a swift hunter who is very, very patient. He's not a catnip cat though. He drools when happy and isn't pushy for attention. He waits for you to come to him and then he just closes his eyes and enjoys the chin and back scratches.

Blue is quite the opposite of Tux. He's a Russian Blue mutt. (Can you tell how creative we are with names?) Blue is vocal. He howls and yowls when he wants something (to run on the treadmill, to go outside when we've locked the cat door ect.) He's also a lovebug. He'll come up to you and headbutt you, sit in your lap and flop on you, only to slowly (very slowly) slide off of the couch, or your lap, onto the ground. At that point he'll leap back up into your lap and repeat the sliding process. He's the bottom of the totem pole in our cat hierarchy and get's pushed around a lot, but that doesn't stop him from loving EVERYONE that walks through the door. He tends to be a bit more lazy than the others during play time, but when you finally get him up and running it's hard to stay ahead of him with Da Bird toy. He only sometimes likes catnip.

Kitkat is my baby and the youngest of all the cats. He's a slim black cat who doesn't mind telling you when he's upset (he uses his claws and teeth in a death trap). But for the most part he wants to be snuggled. He's the only cat who will actually sleep on the bed with me. He meows and has a motor that, once it starts, it just won't stop. He enjoys being held when I come home and he gets very distressed if I don't pick him up as soon as I walk through that door. He's a very sensitive soul and is very attune to the energies in our house, more so to my own energies. He's my boy and I keep a close eye on him and panic if there's any indication that something could be wrong. Kitkat is a playful boy who enjoys high-flying acrobatics when playing. He has two hobbies, sitting right next to me and sleeping or sitting nearby and watching me preform my daily activities.

All of the cats in the house love Da Bird toy that we have and we constantly have to by replacement attachments for the toy! We also have to hide it very well otherwise the cats will find it and drag it out to play!

I am a PC gamer girl, mostly because I enjoy being on Skype calls with friends while I play games with them. I enjoy being able to talk to people who I play with.

I play League of Legends (LoL) and for those people who know what that is, the next few sentences will make sense: I main Soraka Support but can also play Sona and Nami pretty darn well. But the Banana's get me every time so Soraka tends to be who I play the most. I also am learning to main Nidalee mid and Kogmaw ADC Bot. I also can be found playing Orianna mid. I have little or no interest in learning how to Jungle. ARAMs are my thing and I play them just to have fun, I feel like ARAMs were never meant to be a serious thing! =)

I also play Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam, I'm not the best and have only recently started playing co-op.

I play MineCraft, Portal 2, Torchlight II, Guns of Icarus Online and most importantly I play Hidden!

I can also be found playing Mabinogi, Shin Megami Tensei Imagine (also known as MegaTen) and also The Secret World (I'm STILL torn between Dragons and the Lummies!).

I play WoW only semi-occasionally since I dislike the monthly payment but when friends pester me I fork the cash over and obsessively play for a month.

Gary's Mod on Steam - Prop Hunt, Murder & Hide-and-Seek.

I also play MTG (Magic The Gathering) And generally can be found running a mono Green Elf deck, a White/Green Life Gain deck and a Blue/Black Mill deck. I play 'for fun' so my decks span across many sets and blocks.

My Steam name is Shinyfox with an avatar of a real red fox. Look me up if you want to play a game or two!

Sum it all up!

I have been looking at other profiles and looking in the forums. It seems people find lists a lot easier. I can understand, something that is quick and easy to look at. I hope this helps you figure out what to send me in swaps! THANK YOU!!!

As a random note to people looking to give me socks or flip-flops in future swaps: I wear a size 8 shoe.

I also enjoy learning other languages! If your native language is not English, or if you learned a second language, it would be a nice surprise if you listed a couple of words and their translation! Thank you!

Response: Glad it reached you safe and sound & that you enjoyed it! =)
Comment: Thanks for sending so early! I love dystopian books, so I think I might give this one a go =)
Response: I would also recommend Expiration Day by William Campbell Powell. It's a journal style first person (I don't usually like those types) but it was really thought provoking and an interesting read!
