I sincerely apologize for my absence from the swapping/penpalling world. Unfortunately, last summer my mother was diagnosed with cancer and has since passed. I abruptly stopped penpalling and swapping and send my regrets to people that were left high and dry. I am starting to piece my life back togather and promise I will make good with all of the swaps I signed up for.
Also, I am running and afterschool club where I teach all about snailmail so I have created a bunch of swaps for children and promise that these swaps will all be sent out on time. I am working on making a whole new generation of snailmail lovers :-D
I am a first grade teacher that has been penpal / swapping for as long as I can remember. It is a hobby that has always brought a smile to my face. Unfortunately, I have had some time periods that life has been extremely difficult and have fallen out of it- and I am anxious to get involved once more and, most importantly, start smiling again :)
My taste in books varies a great deal, kind of like my taste in movies. I read dramatic books such as Sarah's Key (completely engrossing and moving) and cheesy guilty pleasures such as Demons are a Girl's Best Friend (and others in the series). I will pretty much read anything except too sci-fiy or historical.
I, like the rest of the world, am completely engrossed in The Hunger Games trilogy right now. I actually love children's literature and often read quite a bit of it. I particularly love books about ghosts / hauntings, period books (1940's or 1950's), good mysteries and most of Barnes & Noble's Fiction / Literature section.
I usually catch most of my television shows in syndication so there aren't many shows I catch weekly in prime time. However, I do try and make it a point to see How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock, Modern Family, Cougar Town and New Girl. Thanks to TV on DVD I also get to indulge in True Blood, Weeds, Dexter, and my latest addictions The United States of Tara, Nurse Jackie and Sons of Anarchy.
I am a huge movie buff so it's hard for me to pick favorites. Two big genre favorites of mine are horror movies and cheesy 80's flicks. However, I tend to watch all movies, except for sappy chick flicks that is! I guess a few favorites that I can think of off the top of my head would be Young Frankenstein, Labyrinth, The Usual Suspects, Halloween, Session 9, The Breakfast Club...etc - so you get an idea how my taste varies...
I love the color green, giraffes, mermaids, beaches, travel, movies, the theater, black & white, photography, penpalling, swapping, vampire folklore, anything haunted, Audrey Hepburn, and vintage items/antiques.
I'm kind of new to a whole wish list concept so I can't seem to think of that many but: 1) Stationery and matching envelopes (especially any kawaii characters) 2) Stickers 3) Shaped confetti 4) Glitter glue 5) Patterned paper usually used for scrapbooking 6) Fancy ribbon (thin) 7) Brads 8) Rubber stamps 9) Border stickers (not sure on the name)
Right now I've only branched out into making FBs but I like any type of paper craft really. So, maybe I'll find a new hobby on Swap-Bot!
