I am a 30-something woman loving life in Northern Nevada with my family and our super-rad pets - Atilla the Hun (cat) and Thumper "Mike D" McThump (bunny)
I grew up in & around Detroit, MI and I have a trucker mouth. I love sewing & crafts, thrifting, animals, being outdoors, gardening, reading, writing, spending time with my family, living & learning freely with radical unschooling, walking, meditating and doing volunteer work with the homeless in my community.
Please consider writing a letter to a homeless friend: click here for info
Crafts: crochet, sewing, embroidery, quilting, felting, natural fibers, handmade items, children's art supplies, embroidery patterns, paper & collage, journaling, japanese embroidery & craft books, waldorf/nature crafts, old embroidery hoops
Music: Ska, Reggae, Motown, Beastie Boys, Swing, Blues, Big Band, Ozomatli - anything with a good horn section -- music that makes you get up and dance! I also love conscience music with positive messages, and those criticizing fascism. If I had a theme song it would be "Bulls on Parade" by RATM or "MANA MANA" from Sesame Street.
Books: My favorite genres include Unschooling/Education Reform, Atheism, Buddhism, Naturalism, Existential/Stoic Philosophy, Comparative Religion & Mythology/Folklore, Poetry & Short Stories, Art Books, Social Criticism, Cultural Anthropology, Classic Sci-Fi, Horror, Humor, Contemporary Fiction -- I love a good book!
Vintage Goodness: I love anything from the 1930s/40s/50s including ephemera, fabric, patterns (sewing/crochet/embroidery), sewing notions & accessories, old issues of workbasket magazine, doilies, childrens books, enamelware, milk glass, primary colored pyrex, vintage linens/pillowcases, half-finished embroidery projects, buttons, cookie cutters and red-handled kitchen items, oddly shaped frames, western tourist travel folios, swanky swigs.
Stationary & Mail Art: Any & all forms of stationary & mail art supplies are welcome and appreciated, I write a lot of letters! Letter sets, aerogrammes/postalettes, stickers, notecards, air mail envelopes, customs forms from other countries, stamps, etc...
I'm from the 80's and I love things featuring Rainbow Brite, old school Strawberry Shortcake, Mr. Men, Richard Scarry characters, and anything from Lisa Frank
I'm not so much into angels or anything biblical, but general inspiration is good. Cherubs kind of creep me out.
I have Celiac's Disease, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and ##many severe food allergies##, we're talking serious shit here. While I appreciate your good intentions, PLEASE, Please, please do not send me any food, candy, beverages, make-up or bath/body products.
