My name is Cathy, and I live in Alabama with my husband of 39 years. We have 2 adult daughters, 1 in Colorado and 1 in Tennessee. I am retired from a local school system, and have a “retirement” job working in a local Hallmark store. I was retired for a whopping 6 months when I realized I was bored. A dear friend owns the Hallmark shop, and she hired me to save me from boredom!! Ha!
I have a full-blown obsession with vintage postage stamps and snail mail. I have all of the letters my mother and I wrote one another when I was away at college. She has been gone for 10 years now, and it is so comforting to see her handwriting and read our "conversations" we had through these letters.
I will never flake on a swap. I am very prompt, will always mail the day I receive partner addresses, and will register the day I receive a swap. If you ever have a question or a concern, PLEASE message me. I am more than happy to re-send. In the event that I have a circumstance that would prevent me from mailing swaps out immediately, I will always message you and let you know.
I am a HUGE proponent of continuing the art of letter writing, and the sharing of “snail mail”. I have been a collector of postcards most of my life. It started when we would travel on vacation, and I would take the free postcards at the little motels we would visit on our travels. I still have tons of them!
I am also a major collector and user of vintage stamps. I use them on everything. I love the old stamps. I probably have more than I will ever be able to use, but that is okay! No apologies here!
I am an AVID participant in Postcrossing (cflathem). I keep my maximum number of postcards in the mail at all times. It has been so much fun!!
I do have a list of “favorite things” when it comes to postcards.
Lighthouses, Trains, Christmas ANYTHING, Birds, Brightly colored flowers, Lantern Press postcards, “Greetings from” postcards, State maps, Large letter state and city cards
I am really getting into washi tape. I had never used it until about 6 months ago. Now I have enough for two lifetimes. Ha!
If I had to list some “dislikes”, they would be:
No handmade cards please, they are just not my thing. No free or ad cards, No food items, No political items
But frankly, I would love to see anything else people want to share. I am always interested in hearing about other people and the things they love.
I miss civility and kindness. We seem to be lacking in that area these days. I love sharing my love of snail mail, crafts, creativity. We ALL have something to contribute to this world. Everyone has a talent. My hope is that we always share fun things with one another.
