About Me

30 something nutter with a younger OH and a baby son. I also have three cats, a Maine Coon, a Norwegian Forest Cat and a tortoiseshell (calico) moggy.

I used to work full time as a computer programmer, now I'm a WAHM, hand dyeing fabrics and threads for cross stitch and needlecraft. I also have my own range of cross stitch designs.

I love dragons and have a large collection of figures collected over many years.

My favourite colours are purple, blue & autumn shades (not brights). Generally I prefer muted shades of colour to brights.

Favorite Crafts

Cross stitch: I've been doing this for over 20 years now, I have several pieces hanging on my own walls, and many more hanging on other people's walls.

Jewellery making: I've been a magpie all my life and I love shiny things, so beading was a natural way for me to go. I've also taken several summer classes at the Birmingham (UK) School of Jewellery and can work with silver and gemstones. Sadly I don't get the time to do this at the moment. Toddlers and butane torches are not a good combination eek

Knitting: I'm not brilliant at this, mostly I knit scarves, but I'm in the process of knitting a teddy bear for my son.

Scrapping: I'm quite new to this, I started it mainly to do a scrapbook for my son, but so far all I've managed is a ton of Christmas cards.

Other stuff: I'd like to start patchwork and possibly quilting, but I'm not sure I need yet another time consuming hobby!

Favorite Books

Primarily fantasy and SF.

Favourite authors: Marion Zimmer Bradley, Anne McCaffrey, Mercedes Lackey, Robert Heinlein.

Favorite Television

I love watching what my OH refers to as Geek Soaps, such as Buffy, Angel, Farscape, Stargate, Star Trek, Bones, CSI (all), Supernatural, Babylon 5, etc..

Favorite Movies

I like most things, obviously my favourites tend to be Fantasy, SF, Romance or Comedy. I generally don't like Westerns or what I call 'gritty reality' films.

All-time favourites: Excalibur, Princess Bride, Ever After, Tomb Raider, True Lies, Dungeons & Dragons.

I would love...

'Smalls': Pincushions, pinkeeps, scissor fobs, needlecases, ornaments...

Chocolate: plain/dark for preference. Plain or with fruit flavour fondant fillings, nuts or fruit. Prety much anything except toffees.

Beads: Any, the more sparkly the better.

Buttons: See beads =)

Speciality threads for cross stitch.

Scrapping ephemera: Anything classic and simple. Especially baby, child or cat/pet themed as these are the types of pages I want to work on.

Anything classic and/or timeless. I don't 'do' fashions.

I'm not a fan of...

Caternalia: Yes I love cats, but not things with cats on. Give me the real thing any day. (the exception to this is things for scrapping)

Anything too cutsey.

Kawaii.

Pink (I hate pink. It's a good thing my baby turned out to be a boy really.)

Comment: Your cards are absolutely beautiful. You are a very talented artist. Thank you so much for the cards and all the wonderful extras you sent. I hope I can be in another one of your swaps. Elaine
Response: Oh, thank you *blush* I'm so glad you like them all. One thing I think I forgot to mention in my letter is that I deliberately left some space on some of the cards so you could add a greeting of your choice if you wanted.

Comment: Thanks for the lovely ATCs. I decided not to look up my birthday so that I would really have a surprise when discovering the ATC. I have already read Roald Dahl, just have to taste the Hershey kisses to be complete :o)
Response: Glad you like them. I would have sent you some Hersheys kisses but I'm in the wrong country as well.
