I am new to swap-bot... please excuse the mess while I develop my profile! I am taking it slow so that I don't get overwhelmed and forget something or keep a pen pal waiting too long.
I have been lucky so far that no issues have arisen with any of my swaps. However, if something does go wrong and you don't receive a swap from me, PLEASE let me know before rating and I will happily re-send! I am loving swap bot and I want everyone to receive and enjoy the swaps I send!
If there are any issues or concerns at all with any of my swaps please let me know and I will work hard to make it right!
Please feel free to contact me about private swaps. However, please understand that I am very new here and I haven't done a private swap yet, so you might have to help me through the logistics of it!
My name is Dakota and I live in the southwestern US. I moved around a lot growing up, but landed here and here I will stay! I live with my husband Thomas (married June 2016) and our pup Westley. He's a one year old Blue Heeler (AKA Australian Cattle Dog) and he's named after the Dread Pirate Roberts from the movie The Princess Bride. He is full of energy but just the sweetest dog alive!
Aside from crafting, I am passionate about many things! First and foremost I am passionate about American Sign Language and Deaf Culture. I am an ASL interpreter and learning more every day! I also love to read, as you will probably gather from my "Favorite Books" blurb below. We also love camping! Although it is a relatively new hobby we hope to spend as many weekends camping as physically possible. Westley loves to hike and camp with us as well!
Currently Reading: Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson, re-reading Emperor Mage by Tamora Pierce
I am an avid reader (and serial re-reader) and my favorite genres are fantasy and science fiction! I also read a lot of contemporary fiction, historical novels, and narrative non-fiction. I am trying to read more classic fiction as well!
I worked in bookstores throughout college and I can't ever seem to have enough books. I usually have several books going at once - usually one audiobook for my commute, one "home book" in paper that stays at my house, and one ebook that goes everywhere with me on my Nook.
I am always up for trying out new books recommended by penpals and other friends! If you suggest something it might take me a while to read it but I will eventually, and then we can talk about it!
My favorite authors are:
(bold = authors I have met and/or gotten books signed, italic = have a signed book but have never met them)
While I'm always up for watching something new, if it's something dark or gritty, I find myself needing to watch something happy and light afterwards to bring my spirits back up! I seem to cycle through a few shows on Netflix, primarily:
