I love statistics, reading, cross stitch, embroidery and crochet (and collecting things to do with all of those). I also have a very soft spot in my heart for Eeyore.
I am engaged to a wonderful man, who thankfully is supportive of my mailing habits. We've been together for over 4 years now and are looking to get married next fall (2013). We're both at the beginning of our careers -- we both graduated as Chemcial Engineers in 2010.
It's probably easier to list music I'm not fond of: country, hard rock, punk and anything with screaming.
This means I quite enjoy: classical, jazz, techno, drum and bass, ambient, swing, pop, rap, classic rock, adult contemporary...
My favourite artists include Eminem, Clay Aiken and anything composed by Gershwin.
My absolute favourite book is Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card (more people are familiar with Ender's Game). I love science fiction/fantasy and am currently reading the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I can't wait for the last book to come out (whenever it manages to)! I have now started the Song of Fire and Ice series (stuck waiting for the next book too!). I own pretty much every Orson Scott Card book/writing published, along with most of Jeffery Deaver's books.
I also enjoy "classics", particularly from Russia. I have read War and Peace and Anna Karenina, both of which I count among my favourite books and will readily recommend them to anyone! Other "classics" that I've enjoyed include Lolita (although I found it disturbing) and Catch-22.
I have completely worn out my set of The Chronicles of Narnia (C.S Lewis). My favourite is The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. I'm not sure I want to see the movie though!
This spring I plan on reading Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. My favourite children's authors are Beverly Cleary, Madeline L'Engle, Phillip Pullman, Shel Silverstein, and Dr. Suess!
All time favourite: 10 Things I Hate About You. Runner up: Traffic
Others in random order: Lord of the Rings trilogy, Muppet Treasure Island, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Full Metal Jacket, The Great Escape, The Dark Knight, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Space Jam, Cruel Intentions I and II.
What's a television? I can't say I've watched that much television in the last couple years, but I've always enjoyed Law & Order and CSI: Las Vegas. I secretly watch America's Next Top Model on my computer.
I love crafting. Mainly I stick to cross stitch, embroidery and crochet, although I am trying to learn how to sew. I finally managed to get my sewing machine out and on to my desk. Now I just need to plug it in and learn how to use it!
I have recently discovered ATCs, so I've been picking up all sorts of papers, markers, pencil crayons, ink, ribbon, tape, embellishments, etc. Soon I will need to find a new apartment just to hold all of my ATC materials!
Aside from swapping, I lead a fairly quiet life. I am definitely an introverted person (in the "my personal batteries recharge when I am not in a crowd" meaning).
I got hooked on Poupee Girl, a japanese fashion/social media site. I spend way too much time (and maybe too much money) on dressing my girl up!
I'm also hooked on MapleStory. It's free to play, and is what I like to call "the cutest MMO ever". Its a side scrolling adventure with tons of cute (and not as cute) monsters drawn in a cartoony style. It has none of the vile semi-realistic monsters that seem to permeate my fiance's games. (Why do all adventure rpgs have to have large disgusting spiders to fight? Eww.)
I'm never any good at coming up with lists of things I want (drives my Mom crazy for Christmas and my birthday!), but I'll give it a shot since one can never have too much swappy stuff!
I love tea. My go to favourite is Earl Grey, but I enjoy green tea, white tea, rooibos, chai, black, herbal etc. Basically, if it's a tea type drink, I will drink it, so don't be afraid to send me something you don't like!
