About Me

I'm Beth, I'm 40 and fabulous, and I live with my wonderful husband and three daughters in an adorable New England town right on the MA/NH border. I am first and foremost a SAHM to my girls, Eva and Paige who are 7 year old twins, and Greta, who is 3 but acts more like a triplet to the other two. They are beautiful and hilarious and I love every minute with them.

I've been an avid quilter for 15 years and love everything about fabric, notions, embellishments...you name it, if it has to do with quilting, I love it and own plenty of it. :) In 2005 I started my own quilt pattern design business after a quilt I made for a friend's daughter from a design I saw in my head turned out, as I thought of it at the time, to be "better than some things I have seen in quilt shops", and with that ego trip I decided to venture into making quilting my business as well as my hobby. I named my business EvaPaige Quilt Designs as I figured those names had worked well for me the first time and might do so again for me. As I move into 2010, I have 15 designs on the market and a book due out at Spring Quilt Market. Not bad for a mom of three young girls.

My husband and I have been married for almost 15 years and enjoy travel, wine, home improvement, and following the Minnesota Vikings (he's originally from MN), New England Patriots, and Boston Red Sox.

I discovered Swapbot when I was searching the internet for opportunities to make some quilt blocks with people I have never met, and I am amazed by this site. So many fun things to do! The last thing I need is a new obsession, but I think I just found one!

Favorite Books

Historical fiction that has obviously been well researched is my absolute favorite; to that end, the "Outlander" series by Diana Gabaldon is amazing to me. Nothing like a little bodice ripping with your fascinating and based on real events history.

Other favorites are The Glass Castle, One Thousand White Women, Water for Elephants, Those Who Save Us, The Whistling Season, In the Company of the Courtesan, and anything by Tracy Chevalier.

Favorite Television

I'm an Office girl, Dancing with the Stars affecianado, and adore Monday Night Football. How is that for eclectic? I also have become a HUGE fan of Glee and want Kurt to live in my house and crack me up daily with his deadpan wit.

Favorite Crafts

Quilting, sewing

Colors

What I especially love for fabrics.....

Blues of all hues, purples of all hues, sage green, cream, black and whites, pinks that are not too pastelly, brights and balis, florals. minkee and minkee mates

What I DO NOT especially love for fabrics, and would prefer not to receive....

Country colors and plaids, 30s prints, civil war reproduction type colors and prints, juvenille prints, rusty oranges, pastels, and any fabric that is not 100% cotton quilting fabric (if quilting fabric is the genre being sent).

Random things I love

Tea in a beautiful mug, fireworks, riding my bicycle and hearing my toddler squeal for joy from her seat behind me, alone time, reading on the couch snuggled up in a quilt on a rainy night, the first crisp air of fall, watching my girls sleep, a date with my husband, finishing a project

Favorite Foods

Love me some chocolate of any type, lobster, raspberries, goat cheese, pizza, ice cream, cake with buttercream frosting

3 fun facts about me

  1. I still have a baby tooth, and I didn't get my first cavity until I was 37.

  2. I have serious issues with blue food coloring. It makes me gag to see any kid eating any sort of blue food (cotton candy, gummies, slushees, frosting, ANYTHING). My daughters are so in tune with this that when they have M&Ms, they pour them out, separate the blue ones, and throw them away before eating any other colors. I am so proud. :)

  3. My greatest desire at the moment is to be organized, but I fear it may never happen!

Please do not send

  • Quilting fabric that is NOT 100% cotton. I prefer quilt shop quality above all else, but Joann's better brands are also fine. 100% cotton is really the key.

  • Elastic. I inherited enough from my mom's sewing room to last me until 2198.

  • Glitter or those glittery things that you stuff the envelope with that fall out all over the place when you open it. Just not my thing.

  • Sticky notes. They are cute and pretty often, but I just don't use them.

  • scrapbooking supplies. I don't scrapbook and don't plan to start (have enough messy and expensive hobbies already!!) and they would just go to waste. I woudl rather see someone who will use them have them.

  • Food items, although tea bags are totally fine

Comment: Hello Beth, I am sorry I have been so slow in getting your rating done, but I have been ill since before Christmas and it has followed me into 2009. As a result, I have had to take it slow and easy and listen to my body and do only what I can each day. With that said, I wish to extend my appreciation for the lovely black ornament your sent me for this swap. I am a beginner quilter and I enjoy it a lot, but it takes me a lot of time. I appreciate all the hand work you did on this ornament--on the black background and then the gold on the poinsetta in the center of the ornament. The beads also add sparkle to the ornament. It hung on our tree this year and will have a special place each year. Hope your holiday season was wonderful and that your 2009 is wonderful. As well, I hope we cross paths in 2009 on Swap-bot. Oh, by the way--the ornament was worth the wait! Barb sleepingrover2010

Response: Isn't that the cutest? I must admit I saw it in a quilt shop first, so it wasn't a totally original idea, but I did have to figure out how to do it. Glad you liked them!
