My name is Jacki and I'm happy to swap with you!

I live in Michigan. I am a lifelong learner and work in education. Autumn is my favorite time of year. I value kindness, diversity, equality, justice, the earth, animals, good books, and a hot cup of black tea. I enjoy time with friends and family, but also value alone time every day for sanity. I am trying to simplify and live a more minimalist life but find it most challenging in terms of fabric and swapping supplies!

Current favorite swaps are making items for journaling (tags, pockets, journal cards, embellishments) and making/decorating envelopes. I enjoy decoupaging with napkins to create interesting textures, using papers that create crinkly sounds, and finding interesting ways to add fabric. Would like to get better at collage - looks so easy but is somehow such a challenge for me.

I've lost interest in swaps designed only to exchange crafting supplies. Learned that I'd rather actually use my papery goodies rather than just give them away. Still, now and then, I will join tags or RAKs or wishes to destash when the piles start to get too high.

Beyond paper crafts, I do craft sewing and quilting (quilts, pillowcases, place mats, table runners, bags) and relish any opportunity to go fabric shopping. I welcome private swaps for handmade items - crochet, embroidery, and watercolor are favorites and I would happily swap for something sewn.

FAVORITE THEMES - Floral, botanical, nature, artsy, earth friendly, books, animals, bees, butterflies, watercolor, things with texture, uplifting words and phrases, paper with stitching. I prefer artistic over realistic images.

JUNK JOURNAL - Having fun with junk journaling and appreciate any tips or ideas. Always on the lookout for old book pages (any language), old music paper, dyed paper, strips of lace or other trims, interesting images or phrases from magazines and books, tags, pockets, ephemera, embellishments.

YOUR ART - Anything handmade by you, in any medium, would be a joy to receive. Even if it doesn't reflect my likes/interests, the fact that it is handmade means it will hold a special place in my heart.

SEASONS vs HOLIDAYS - I don't care for holiday-related stuff. On the rare occasion that I join a holiday swap, feel free to go with autumn instead of Halloween, winter instead of Christmas, spring instead of Easter. This is just my preference, of course I would never down-rate you for following the swap as intended.

SNACK SWAPS - Milk chocolate with crunchy/crispy bits, effervescent candies like the fizzy Love Hearts from the UK or fizzy Brause-stäbchen from Germany, Fry's Turkish Delight from the UK, minty candies, salty and spicy snacks, black tea. Not a fan of dark chocolate, gummy candies, meat-based snacks, or herbal tea.

PACKAGE SWAPS - All kinds of bags (totes, pouches), non-slip fuzzy ankle socks, Vicks Inhalers (weird, I know, I love them), lip balm, sugar free gum, anything from or inspired by my Etsy favs $5 and under.

Items that land in my recycling bin are childish, Disney, fantasy, mythical, celebrities, fandom, fashion, sports. I am religion-friendly but do not care for items related to religion or spirituality (angels, Bible verses, goddesses, tarot cards, astrology, etc). I am creeped out by things with human faces (especially realistic) and have never been a fan of dolls for that reason - for example I love the moon but can't stand images like this.

Unless specified in the swap description, please do not send traveling items (friendship books, slams), memo sheets, touristy items, jewelry, used postage.

Most swappers are good people with good intentions. I will not look for reasons to down-rate and can be very understanding when things do not go as planned. I presume positive intent and give the benefit of doubt whenever possible.

Communicating solves a world of problems. If you mess up on a swap, just message me, and chances are it will be fine. If I mess up, I will do everything I can to fix it to your satisfaction.

Be the type of swapper who encourages others in their craft, expresses gratitude for everything received, and lives by the words of JM Barrie, author of Peter Pan: "Be kinder than necessary."

Comment: Thank you so much for the lovely letter and the teas! All new to me, I can't wait to try them all, ty!
Response: Hope you like them! Drink them up before it gets too hot down there :)
Comment: Hey there Jacki...I love my little specimen cards! The veggies are cute and right up my "out of the box" way of thinking regarding what to do...lol. Yes...99 3/4% of the time people misspell my name and I have to be honest...it bugs the heck out of me. My name is actually pronounced..."Shah" Lee Ah". But back to you swap package...Again...I love my specimen cards and the extras that you enclosed were super as well. Thanks so much for a fun swap to open! Be safe...
Response: Oh I'm sooo glad you like them! Looking forward to swapping again, Shelia!
Comment: Thanks so much! Hope you had a nice Valentine's Day!
Response: You're welcome!
Comment: Thank you so much for the pretty Valentine and cute fabric hearts. You made me feel very special! Have a wonderful Valentine's Day!

MeggyMoo rated for What Will You Read? Winter 2020 on Feb 4, 2021
Comment: I loved your letter, thankyou (and the little extras)! I also like Harlan Coben and agree with your assessment - Jodi Piccoult was like that for me for a few books, too, but has redeemed herself with the last on, 'The Book of Two Ways'. I loved that it was written in a different style. I also loved 'American Dirt' by Jeanine Cummings - I was very tense reading it, only because I wanted the main character to succeed! Latest interest is Jacqueline Winspear's Maisie Dobbs series (about to start the third - they're crime novels set in England just after WW1). I love the historical detail in those. Take care and happy reading! Tracy
Response: So glad it finally made its way to you! I am looking up Winspear books tonight. Thanks for rating!!

While I m in love with them both...the mushroom print is my favorite...lol. And thanks so much for the cute tuck-ins that you included in the back pockets. I love them!!!
Response: So happy that you like them, Shelia! That was a fun little swap!
Comment: Hi Jacki, thank you for the beautiful handmade envelope, love the soft tones you used to create it. And I must say those die cuts, so nice, a die cut machine is on my toplist to buy. Have fun experimenting with it♥️
Response: Thanks for the rating! Glad you can use the die cuts :)

Comment: Thanks for these beautiful envelopes! Stay safe and healthy! Hugs from Alaska, Sherry!
Response: You are welcome!
Comment: OMG, Jacki! I absolutely LOVE this adorable flipbook that you sent me! My favorite page/embellishment are the polar bears! Thanks again for such a wonderful swap!
Response: Yay! So glad you like it! I had fun with that one - the blues, teals, silver and white are one of my fav color combos. Happy winter to you!
Comment: Oh, so GORGEOUS!! I loved everything, the deep floral colors and all the ephemera you packet into it - so elegant!! What a lovely idea for a wedding invite or card! ❤️❤️❤️
Response: I am so happy that you like it! I really loved putting it together. Thanks so much for the kind rating!
Comment: Your envelope (very cute! what paper did you use?) arrived completely torn down two sides, but somehow I think everything was still inside - which I am so happy about because I love it all! Your cards are really nice - I especially love how you themed the bee one, but still kept it completely neutral :) Thank you for the extras as well !
Response: Oh no! Sorry about that. I used an old Currier & Ives print - it is quite old, I should have taped the sides! Glad the swap arrived. Thanks for the rating!

rhinoluvr rated for Handmade Envelopes - October 2020 on Nov 8, 2020
Comment: Hi Jacki, OMG, you've spoiled me!! Thank you so very much for this great envelope of handmade paper goodness. I especially love the Rhino one - no surprise, haha! The purple one is so creative and innovative. And I don't think I can send the Autumn one with the fox & lovely fall leaves on it... Unless it was to a very special person. Thank you again, and for the glassine envie with round paper tags. Happy Fall to you too. Take care & stay safe :)
Response: These were such fun to make and I am thrilled that you like them! Thanks so much!!
Comment: Turkey Greetings, Many thanx for this awesome swap! My Mom used to make your Creamed Corn, but not with Parmesan Cheese though. I’ll have to try it with the cheese. Enjoy your family Thanksgiving 🦃

I so badly want to take my daughter to lunch and go shopping! I keep telling her we’ll do a break in somewhere. no stealing, just try on some clothes hahaha, WITHOUT a mask on! But that is going to take awhile yet. We’ll get there. We hope.

Once again, thank you!!
