About Me

I live in the best city in the best state in the world...San Antonio, TX! Go Spurs Go!

I'm the mother of two furry children of the feline persuasion. Snickers is an 8-year old gray tabby and perfectly spoiled. Elizabeth is a 15-year old seal point Siamese that was recently added to our household and has taken to being spoiled very fast. Snickers, however, is not taking too well to becoming a younger sister.

I enjoy traveling, writing, reading and meeting new people. My work allows me to travel so I'm very blessed.

I will admit I'm a shop-a-holic...I totally love purses and shoes but it's not my fault. I inherited the shopping gene from my mother.

Now I'm ready to make even more new friends here!

Favorite Music

I'm a total child of the 80's so of course Duran Duran tops my list but anything 80's and I love it. I think I have every compilation CD of 80's music ever made!

I'm also a country music fan. Right now Jason Aldean, Leann Rimes, Tim McGraw and of course George Strait are the artists most often found in my CD player.

Favorite Books

I will read anything about British history, especially British royalty around the time of Henry VIII and forward.

I enjoy mostly non-fiction reading and am trying to finish a biography about Catherine the Great. It's true what they say...the truth is stranger than fiction!

I'm also a news junkie. I love to read the "behind the scenes" books of major news events.

Favorite Movies

I'm a huge fan of the movies from the 30's and 40's with big names like Claudette Colbert, Bette Davis, Katherine Hepburn, Myrna Loy, Irene Dunne, Deborah Kerr, William Powell, Cary Grant, etc. I love black and white movies. Romantic comedies are my favorites.

Let's see...as far as more mainstream movies I like "America's Sweethearts" and "Serendipity" or anything with John Cusack; "The Devil Wears Prada", "Walk the Line" or anything with Joaquin Phoenix and/or Reese Witherspoon; "Raising Helen"...just a good mix.

Favorite Television

Oh, I watch a lot of television. My favorite shows are "Lost" (love that Sawyer!), "Monk", "Psych", "Clean House", "The Closer", "Law and Order", "Army Wives", etc. I even manage to sneak in a little CNN every once and a while (love that Anderson Cooper!).

I also like some reality shows like "Ice Road Truckers" on A&E or "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?" on Style and "Ace of Cakes" on FoodNetwork.

Favorite Crafts

I love to make jewelry. I especially like to work in silver, onyx, turquoise and pearls. I'll make necklaces, earrings, bracelets, etc. for my friends. I also repair jewelry. It's a lot of fun to make something for a particular outfit rather than having to go out and hunt for it!

I'm also a huge Princess Diana fan and spend a lot of time trying to add to my collection.

Likes

I love pink! I also like purple/lavender, periwinkle, etc. for colors. I love vanilla scented candles, mulberry scented candles, pear and peach scented candles. I can't burn them because my cats are fascinated with the flame but they are great for decorating and keeping my apartment smelling un-cat like! :)

I never intended to become "the crazy cat lady" but I think I have. Everyone gives me things with cats on them and I do love them...from cards to collectibles to plaques. In fact "Get Fuzzy" is my absolute favorite comic strip EVER. My cat, Snickers, is completely Bucky.

Other than Princess Diana items, the only other things I collect are items from Kenai, Alaska-where I was born. I recently found some church cookbooks from Kenai churches and it has sparked a desire to collect them. That's pretty much all I collect.

I love flowers. My apartment is decorated in magnolias but I like all flowers.
