I'm a software trainer who travels to client sites about half the time. My husband and I have no children. We dine out constantly just like the rest of Houston, Texas. I love things in rich jewel tones and pastels, elegant, classic, romantic, pretty, eclectic, cottage style, but nothing too cutesy (unless it's baby animals - they can't be too cute).
Soft rock, new age, classic rock, celtic, old standards, classical, movie sound tracks and jazz.
Casablanca, Enchanted April, anything by Alfred Hitchcock, old classic black and white movies. Anything animated. Period Pieces with gorgeous costumes, just about anything but horror.
Fringe, Warehouse 13, Dexter, Mad Men, CSI (all 3), Psyche, NCIS, and anything with a mystery just like the books I read. Also shows on History, Discovery, PBS, National Geographic, DYI or Biography that teach me something I didn't know.
Paper crafts (collage, cards, quilling, etc), crochet, quilting, sewing, altered art, paper mache, painting, woodworking, clay, bead work, cross stitch, needlepoint, doll making. You name it, I'll try my hand at it.
I realized my profile doesn't really have enough info to help someone trying to decide what to send me so I thought I'd make a list of my likes and dislikes.
~~LIKES~~
Ephemera of any kind - old photos, sheet music, pages out of books, interesting magazine clippings, used greeting cards, postcards, brochures, programs, certificates, maps, paper with inclusions, tags, business cards. If it's made from paper I'll take it.
Birds - Loons, Bluebirds, Sparrows and Owls, especially, but any kind
Seahorses and Sea Dragons, Jellyfish, Sea shells, Starfish - pictures, photos, toys, stuffies, etc
Hedgehogs and Penquins and Horses and Otters
Baby animals of any kind
People who read my blog and leave comments
Vintage thread crocheted potholders
Ladies handkerchiefs - old and new
Embellishments - sequins, buttons, ribbon, yarn, game pieces, brads, cut outs, etc, etc, etc
Miniature anything
Old linens - even ones with holes and stains that have interesting bits that can be salvaged
Flowers, Flowers, Flowers and all things gardening
Quilting stuff - especially little handmade quilted things like needle cases, pin cushions, coin purses, eyeglass cases, ornaments, etc
Chocolate, Tea, Chocolate, Salt Water Taffy, Chocolate, Nuts, Chocolate and Chocolate
~~DISLIKES~~
Candles - but only because I'm allergic to the smoke, so I can't burn them
Anything that smells of cigarette smoke - once again I'm allergic
Incense - see above
Heavy, pungent scents because they make me sneeze, even attar of roses, though light flower scents don't seem to bother me
Mittens and scarves and winter hats - I enjoy making them but don't have a lot of use for them in Houston, TX
