Swap Coordinator:emilynhr (contact)
Swap categories: Food
Number of people in swap:113
Location:International
Type:Type 3: Package or craft
Rating requirement:4.95 (unrated swappers allowed)
Last day to signup/drop:August 20, 2012
Date items must be sent by:August 31, 2012
Number of swap partners:2
Description:

Candy lovers unite! You will have 2 partners and you'll send YOUR favorite candy to each partner. This is sender's choice. If you're not into new candy, this may not be a swap you'll enjoy. Chocolate, gummies, unusual candy -- WHATEVER your favorites might be! Spend about $2 on each partner. You can send the same things to each partner, or you can mix it up.

Remember this is SENDER'S choice. Rate your partners' fairly based on whether they followed the rules and not necessarily on whether you liked what they sent.

Newbies welcome. I'll check ratings, 4.95 and up.

Note: Since the swap date is pretty far away, when it's time to assign partners, I'll check profiles to make sure everyone meets the proper criteria. I'll also be dropping anyone who hasn't logged in within 10 days of the signup date.

International - foreign candy is so much fun!

If you don't want to join, you don't have to! I live in Florida, so I know hot weather! If something gets slightly melted, throw it in the freezer! No big deal! I don't understand the need to post here and say that you don't want things to get melted or that you don't want to join. Just move on to a different swap! This is supposed to be for fun!

aluxpoopy 08/10/2012 #

when and how do you know who your partners are?

papercaper 08/11/2012 #

Why not send chocolate bars inside a well-sealed zip-lock bag? That way, if it melts you can throw it in the freezer. Or you can throw it out and not worry that it will taint any paper notes enclosed as well. It may be a mess but it will be self-contained. I know that if it was Summer here right now (Australia), I'd still be happy to receive a molten mess. Chocolate is as chocolate does! Whatever that means. What I mean to say is, Chocolate is chocolate is chocolate. Yum. :D Watching for now (but will join).

@papercaper has a wonderful idea for all candies. I would even go as far as saying it would be good in the winter. Sugar can make up its own mind sometimes and surprise us all.

Since I plan to lose (a lot) of weight (have already lost 10 kg/22 lbs), so I'm dropping from this swap. I'm not the kind of person who can eat a little at one time and keep candy for days... Luckily there are many more nice swaps out there that don't include sugar/candy. See you there, folks! Happy swapping to you all!

Racheyface56 08/15/2012 #

Do you want proper packaged stuff, or can it be a pick n mix? There's an old fashioned sweet shop not far away :)

GrammaSherry 08/16/2012 #

WOW - lots of demends for a senders choice swap. Thought I would add mine - send what you want. If you send chocolate and it melts oh well, if you send sugar and I am diabetic, I guess I will give it away. If you send something I don't like - I work in a building with many other people - someone will like it.
SENDERS CHOICE - SEND WHAT YOU WANT! @emilynhr - thank you for hosting this swap and making it international!

Liveke 08/16/2012 #

I agree with GrammaSherry, very picky people!! Anyway...I know it may vary but how much candy would $2 be? So I can have an idea. I don't think $2 would go a long way here.

GrammaSherry 08/16/2012 #

Depends on where you live and your community size is my guess for how far your $$ would go. With Halloween coming and dollar stores everywhere 2 could go along way.

virgovegan 08/17/2012 #

@GrammaSherry - too right you are :) My son is doing this one and is so excited about trading candy. I told him since it is sender's choice, someone may send chocolate and it may get melty and he is fine with that - he said he would rather risk in than not swap at all

GrammaSherry 08/17/2012 #

@virgovegan if you pm your addy i would love to send your son some candy - even if we dont get partnered

BritishGinger 08/18/2012 #

Looking forward to this one!! Already know what I'm going to send... haha, not really helping me lose some chub! But can't miss the opportunity to swap. Hoping for international. :) Thanks for hosting.

smadronia 08/18/2012 #

$2 in candy can vary, but if you're going by most United State measurements, it's often a bag of 4 ounces of hard candies, 2 candy bars, 3 packs of gum, or 1 King Size candy bar.

For a specific example: my favorite candy is a hard candy. It was $2.95 for the bag, which was 6 ounces, and approximately 40 pieces. If I took them out of the bag, they'd be a big handful of candies. This is probably bigger than is necessary for a swap like this. I just have a bigger bag because the candies aren't individually wrapped, and I'd rather keep them sealed up, away from germs and moisture.

Liveke 08/19/2012 #

Thanks for clearing that up :)

vick302000 08/19/2012 #

I agree with emilynhr, You do not have to join if you do not want to. Far to many demands for a senders choice swap. If you are diabetic why would you join a candy swap? Yes there are diabetic candies but have you seen the cost of them? Most more than 2.00, partners? You get who you get, the computer decides who your partner is not the host.

dmadison65 08/19/2012 #

This will be my first swap and i am very excited to give and recieve! Any pointers or advice anyone can share with me is greatly appreciated. Thank you denise

Clearbrite 08/19/2012 #

Cant wait for this one! Im in Australia,so plenty of lollies/chocolate to choose from:0)

swellmomma 08/20/2012 #

I like that there is a price gauge on this but I hope that people keep in mind the differences in prices in different countries :) I am excited to share my favorite one. They are packaged up and just waiting for partners to put on the package :) Sadly prices in my small town once you add in sales tax etc does not cover 2 chocolate bars for $2 but I hope they will be enjoyed regardless

tanjch 08/20/2012 #

i'm "supposedly" on a diet - but there is no way i'm leaving a swap like this unjoined :) i'll just make an exception and will not be on it the day i get it :)

hysteriskt 08/20/2012 #

I wrote a comment earlier and said I would drop from the swap since I'm diet... But for now, I think @tanjch attitude works for me too ;-) Luckily I hadn't droped yet :)

MissCindy 08/22/2012 #

My first swap! I'm in Australia (Perth - otherwise known as the most remote city on Earth). And I get one swap in Ireland WHOOT! And one in PERTH!!! And I happened to be going to the same area today so I hand delivered!! I was disappointed that there wasn't an option for 'hand delivered' pout teehee I can't wait for my goodies!

blacksheepknits 08/22/2012 #

Just sent my treats in the mail :) Hope my partners enjoy a little treat from Canada :)

virgovegan 08/23/2012 #
