I'll be signing up closer to the date!! On my watchlist, great idea :)

Can some of the items be something like a quote or do they all have to be objects?

Dogluvr 06/11/2009 #

Quotes are cool too.. I was just trying to get away from a container full of slips of paper with this so more "things" but I don't have a problem with that.

Watching looks like fun!

Similar to a whimsy jar perhaps? Otherwise I'd have to get a commercial pickle jar to hold 100 things! hee hee!

Any kind of jar-ish container that you are happy with and comfortable with mailing that will hold the allotted # of items safely.

What a terrific idea! I would love to join, but I am not sure about the "jar" (partly because I am a non-native-English-speaker and don't want to make mistakes because I didn't understand swap-requirements). Does "jar" mean a kind of bigger and round mostly glass-container or would it be possible to choose another kind/ format of box? (Those roung ... jar-thingies ;-) would be very expensive to ship just because they are round and need a big package, whereas more flat containers probably would be cheaper...)

That is why I suggested plastic jars.. they are much lighter and you don't have to worry about packing them for breakage. I'm not sure about where you live but I know that you can sometimes get snack foods or craft supplies in plastic jar-ish containers like these. These pics are just a rough example of jars.. hope it helps.

What an absolutely fun idea! I loved doing and getting whimsy jars, so this seems right up my alley! Can't wait!

See, I would absolutely LOVE to join... But I'm so terrified of falling short!

I've just about bugged my mother to death about what things inspired her... I told her about the "no 100 slips of paper" thing, and we're both stumped. It'd be a wonderful thing to give AND receive, but I'm at a loss as to what items would be inspirational. Could I get a few examples?

Here's some things that came to my mind... a fortune from my fortune cookie when we got Chinese... a photo of sunset on the river in the 1000 islands.. a piece of bright fused glass... a unique shell... a funky keychain... its not that you can't put some pieces of paper in at all.. but more that this isn't a jar full of slips of paper. You know how sometimes you pick up a rock from the beach and its just the perfect rock? Or see a button and realize you could create a whole something around just that button because its so awesome? You are trying to fill the jar that you think your partner would find inspiring to write/make/create things.

Me personally I love finding mismatched old earrings that I can tear apart to make new things.. unusual pins.. things found on the beach...rocks/shells/smooth glass.

I saw on a partner's profile one time that she and her daughter have a box of small cool things.. and that they love to just sift through the box... I think thats alot what this is.. maybe you are stumped or just out of ideas.. and you go paw through your jar.. come out with something and say hey... I could use this or this makes me think of.. and you go off to create something that you were inspired from something in the jar.
