About Me

I am a 44 year old homeschooling mother, living on a modest farm in Southern USA. I have spent most of my life living and traveling around the world and within the US, for both professional and personal reasons. Now I am a homebody, content to write and tend to farm animals and a huge garden. Whatever my family and I can make, we do instead of depending on the ups and downs of the economy. We are fed and clothed off of our land, by the grace of God. I love to spin fiber and blend different types together.

I only have one son left at home, he is 16 and starting on college classes via online this month. He is studying to become a psychologist and works for a neurosurgeon, so he dresses very dressy for work. We live on a farm, so outside of work it is jeans and plain t shirts. He likes to collect T-Shirts from different places (size adult M). He also likes reading science fiction books and is allergic to peanuts, and apple pectin (no apple soaps or apple scented anything)

Favorite Crafts

Spinning

Crochet

Knitting

Weaving

Soap-Making

Felting

Project Quilting

Recycled items (giving old items new purpose - like handbags made from felted sweaters or jeans)

I would love to learn how to make jewelry (I enjoy getting homemade jewelry)

I am a beginner with ATCs and like that so far. It has gotten me interested in other paper arts and homemade cards.

Folk Arts of all kinds - I am getting ready to take a course in ancient bookbinding techniques.

Favorite Television

Monk

Psych

all of the CSI's

NCIS

Heroes

Lost

Cold Case

The Closer

Burnout

(but I can go totally without TV, we didn't even have any TV channels til last year - so IF I watch TV at all, those are the shows I would watch)

Favorite Music

Anasheed Yusuf Islam Rayhan Most tenor acapello Andrea Bocelli Sarah Brightman Mozart Beethoven Pachelbel Jackson Browne (not the popular stuff that he had to do to make the money, but the actual socially responsible songs that made people think about important issues - in other words, the songs the radios will never play - as with Tracy Chapman)

Favorite Books

The Qur'an

Stories from Islamic and Arabian history

Wicked: The Untold Story of the Wicked Witch of the West

The Hand that Rocked the Ladle (by Tamar Myers and all the books in that Amish series)

Son of a Witch (2nd part of the series)

Craft-related how-to books (any and all types of crafts)

Tom Clancy Novels

Things I like to receive

Rolags or Batting from natural fibers (dyed or undyed)

Homemade Felt or needle felting supplies

Homespun or any "natural" yarn

ATC supplies of any kind

Anything cat-related

Accessories for Spinning (wheel or drop spindle), crocheting or weaving related accessories (I live on a farm and make my crafts from animal to end-product).

Beads, semi-precious stones or Findings for handmade jewelry

DIY Craft Kits (I'll try anything)

Anything with a Sunflower Motif (to match my kitchen)

Interesting baskets or basket-making supplies (accessories, reeds, raffia, whatever)

Handwoven items

Cross-stitched items (designs or still life - no people or animals in the design)

Leather for crafting or leather goods

handmade paper or cards

accessories for handmade paper or card imprints

Natural Candles or candle making supplies

I love sturdy tote bags (I use them instead of grocery bags when shopping).

Handmade scarves and shawls (nothing glittery, poofy or showy)

Pet-related items (sweaters, bandanas, etc. for one or more of my 7 cats [Amira, Ziggy-boogy-doo, Princess, Climber, Eyes,Whiskers and Nimr the bobtail] and 1 medium sized Australian Shepherd named Appalachia or "Apple" for short)

Scarf pins (no gold-plated that will chip off - I love silver). I use them to close my scarf under my neck - so nothing that has jagged edges that might stab me in the neck.

Herbal Teas or Flavored Teas (esp. any kind of berry)

Dark Chocolate Shavings for Hot Chocolate

My 16 y.o. son likes touristy T-shirts from different places (nothing drug, alcohol or sex-innuendo related) Size Adult Medium (or large if the shrinky cotton)

One million dollars (I thought I would throw that in there, just in case someone was in the giving mood)

Dislikes

Dislikes:

Earrings

Anything apple-scented or using apple pectin (son and I are allergic)

Anything even hinting of alcohol, sex, or foul language

Black wool (I have 8 cats, so I would basically be wearing their fur)

Crafts that depict humans or animals (no dolls, etc. - still life is fine or distorted pictures without complete faces) or cookware (like mugs with cats are fine).

Holiday-related items, (whether Christmas, Halloween, Birthdays,Valentines Day, Easter, etc ) such as cards, ornaments, etc with the exception of the 2 Muslim religious holidays.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND FOOD OR MARSHMALLOWS (FOR NON-MEAT ITEMS - LIKE CHOCOLATE, PLEASE LOOK FOR THE KOSHER SIGN OF THE "U" WITH A CIRCLE AROUND IT AND/OR THAT IT DOES NOT HAVE GELATIN IN THE INGREDIENTS).

Favorite Colors

Teal

Turquoise

Blue (all shades)

Warm Earth Tones

Orange (bright, sunny orange - not pumpkinny)

Yellow (for kitchen stuff only)

Peach (for kitchen stuff or yarn-related)

Comment: thank you, looks yummy!
Response: You're welcome. (make sure to add lots of parsley if you want to battle the garlic breath or at least some after meal breath mints - the garlic really makes the flavor come out - but it can clear a room if no one else is eating it too).

Comment: ♥ What a wonderful, thoughtful package!! You definatly paid attention to my profile, everything I received had to do with something listed. The book looks like a good one, the vanilla room spray is heavanly, the buttons went straight in to the button jar I'm currently working on, and the yarn will make a great scarf when I get back in to knitting later this winter!! Your welcome for introducing you to bookcrossing, its a awsome site full of wonderful, generous book lovers. Thank you so much I love the package!! ♥
