Description:

Sewing Patterns and fabric seem to have a life of their own. After you buy the first pattern and the fabric to make it, you are hooked. Fabric stores are wonderful places. And now, seduced by coupons, sales and beautiful fabric, you have a large box, closet or room full of sewing supplies, much of which has been there a while. Some of which you won't ever use.

Your tastes may have changed. Your life may have changed. It is a shame to let all those wonderful things just sit there.

You will fill a flat rate box with sewing supplies you no longer have a use for. Items should be unused. Based on your partner's profile these items can be anything you would keep in a sewing room: fabric, vintage pieces, patterns, notions, books, and how to DVD's.

The idea is to purge the things you will probably never use. Because knowing the difference between something that you aren't going to use and something no one will ever use is important here- no swappers with a less than 5.0 rating.

I will be reviewing profiles before assigning partners and will ban anyone who seems a bit suspect. Feel free to email me with questions.

I will angel for any flakers-I don't want anyone disappointed they did this swap. Opening this swap should feel like a birthday present!

So let's have fun. Polish up your profiles. There are lots of wonderful fabrics out there that are not 100% cotton, leave a comment if you are open to other fabrics. Cram those boxes til they struggle to close.

All the cost for this swap should be in the shipping, but international costs, even for the flat rate box are pricey, meaning this swap is staying U.S. only. Flat rate boxes as of now range from $9.85 - $10.35. You choose between using a medium or large flat rate box.

Instead of "one rate" I think you are talking about 'flat rate' boxes. Just to clarify! Great swap!! Love the idea!

Yes, please clarify what size flat rate box. I'm watching the swap.

I've already started filling a box for this swap. Great idea! Hopefully more will join in. I plan on donating what I don't use from this swap to a church for thier Winter bazaar.

I believe the medium or large flat rate box is what she describes at the end of the description. These boxes are free from your post office and they ship for the advertised price regardless of weight. The current shipping prices for these boxes are:

Medium FR (11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2") $10.35

Large FR (12" x 12" x 5-1/2") $13.95

Thank you all for clarifying- I did mean the flat rate box. I think as long as the minimum box used is one of the medium ones, we'll be in good shape. You can save .50 shipping on the box if you buy your postage online. And you can make arrangements for your mail carrier to pick it up from you online also. Thanks for joining!

I made some changes to the swap language that hopefully make it clearer.

I think this should be a type 3 (package) swap - type 2 is for letters/postcards/etc. :-)

This looks like a wonderful swap...if only it could be international:)

Would it be ok to include fabric that has been washed, just not cut into yet? I am a habitual fabric washer, but I definitely have some that has been lingering in the stash...

Rollerwriter 10/24/2009 #

What about a note to your partner that you've washed the fabric. Is there anyone who would object to receiving washed fabric?

thebabykitties 10/29/2009 #

I don't care if anyone sends me fabric. I love all fabric. especially vintage fabric, which most likely has been washed (if not that is fine with me too) lol.
