NOTE - I'm on vacation until 10/14/09
My name is Evelyn. I'm married, mom of 1 (daughter, 3.5 years old), work from home for a software company. My favorite hobby, other than crafting, is going to rummage sales, looking for more craft supplies. ;-)
NOTE: I'm not doing too many swaps these days - I've fallen in love with the wishlist way of doing things!
My goal for this year is to make one Project Linus quilt each month (9 done as of Sept!). So, I'd love to receive any fabrics that have bright colors or novelty prints. These are quilts for kids, so they'll see heavy use and get lots of washing, so the fabric needs to be 100% cotton, quilt-store quality.
Swap ideas from my current projects:
-- I'm making a set of seasonal pillow cases for my daughter. Each one is flannel, with a matching trim around the hem at the end. I'd love some pom-pom or any other interesting trim, but I need pieces to be at least 1.5 yards.
-- I like to make quilts from thrifted sheets. So I'm always on the lookout for cool vintage/retro-looking (50's-70's) floral sheets (flat is best, but fitted works too). Pillowcases are great too.
-- Got any spare alligator-type hair clips? I'd like to make my daughter some hair clips, but I can't find the alligator-style clips in my local craft stores. I'll break down and order them from the internet one of these days...
-- For Project Linus quilts, I'd love 100% cotton fabric of any fun novelty prints or bright colored solids/patterns. Anything from scraps (at least 4" square) to yards would be awesome!
-- Some FOE (fold-over elastic). I'd love to try sewing with this, but can't find it locally, and I'm hesitant to order a bunch before I try it.
-- I'm planning to make a "Postcards from Hawaii" quilt for my husband, so any scraps of Hawaiian-type cotton fabric (at least 3"x6") would be awesome.
-- My husband loves WOW (World of Warcraft) and Penny Arcade. If you just happen to have any T-shirts for those, I'd love them. He has requested his own shopping tote made from one of these, and has promised that if has one, he'll remember to use it! ;-)
I tend to collect supplies. Yeah, a lot of supplies! Here are some things I have way too much of. Let me know if you'd like to do a one-on-one swap.
-- Big microscope slides. These are the size of two normal slides, so like 2"x3", but the same thickness. Would be very cool for xmas ornaments.
-- Making Memories metal plaque embellishments. These are the rectangular ones, about 2"x1.5", with various images (birthday cake, baby foot, flower, etc.).
-- Fabric flower embellishments, pretty much any color/size you can imagine.
-- Picot-edge ribbon. I have a gazillion yards, about a dozen colors, mostly pastel.
-- White twill tape, black grosgrain ribbon, and red velvet ribbon. All are about 1" wide.
-- Scrapbooking paper, cardstock, and embellishments.
My daughter is 3 (born April '06). First off, let me say that I'm totally okay with thrift-store or hand-me-down stuff (as long as it's still usable of course), and hand-made is awesome too. Some things she loves:
-- Stickers of any sort (even crappy give-away ones, as long as they peel off easily).
-- Temporary tattoos, especially the "tattoo king" brand that come in the purple packaging. I've found these at Dollar Tree stores in other states, but we don't have any of those stores where I live (boo hoo!!!).
-- Fun bandaids (especially Dora or Diego).
-- Washable art supplies (paints, markers, etc.)
-- Cute hair accessories.
-- T-shirts (size 4T) with fun pictures on the front (kitty, kangaroo, soccer ball, etc.). Hand-made appliqués or prints would be fantastic. The only problem is that she has a HUGE head, so they need to have either a large/stretchy opening, or buttons on the back/side.
-- DVDs: Diego, WonderPets, or Backyardigans would be awesome. We don't have a VCR, so no VHS please.
-- Colorful socks, size 3T/4T and up.
-- Anything from her current favorite shows - "Dora", "Diego" or "LIttle Einsteins". :-)
