About Me

"Jessica is a 28 year old geek from southern Ontario. She's fond of goblins, the colour pink and grotesque horror movies.

She hopes to one day be 80, wear cat-rimmed glasses and shoot zombies."

I strongly prefer darker themed things as a whole. Goth/geek is intermingled with me.

When sending me anything - the funkier/more different the stamps are the better - I'm a collector!

My birthstone is the sapphire, my sign is Libra and my Chinese Zodiac animal is the Rat, but I don't follow or put any faith in any of them.

I love penpalling, writing, reading, hiking, camping, swimming, gothy things, geeky things, spider things, skull things, dungeons and dragons, fantasy worlds, horror movies, mel brooks, the colours pink, red and black, stickers, postcards, cooking, vampires, zombies, voodoo, the occult, theology, hello kitty, medieval or fantasy weaponry, photography, FX Make-up, being crafty, gardening, rare books, indie films, documentaries, springtime, paganism, mini wargaming, building miniwargaming terrain, conservation land, the trans canada trail, chocolate, candy, tea, british humour, thrift store scavenging, exotic pets, grimms fairy tales, lenore, etc.

Favorite Books

I would love to start doing some book swaps! I'll never say no to some Young Adult fantasy books. Message me to find out what I'm currently looking for or send me something random in a swap

Book Genre's I Would Enjoy Receiving in a Swap

  • Comedy
  • Thrillers/Horror

Authors/Series I enjoy

Enders Game (Orson Scott Card), the Incarnations of Immortality Series (Piers Anthony), A Wrinkle in Time (Madelein L'Engle), etc.Pendragon series, Series of Unfortunate Events, Percy Jackson books,

Young Adult fantasy books that thrust normal people/youth into magical worlds or events.

Non fiction - books on theology, the occult, ancient paganism/mythology, Voodoo, camping, survival in the woods, books on animals/reptiles, gardening books.

Book Types I Don't Like

  • Romance Novels - Unless they are fantasy or supernatural based, I probably won't end up reading it. Note that this does not include historical romance as I don't think they would get read, either.

  • **Book Club Books* - If it's the type of book an average book club would read and discuss, it's probably not for me. This probably includes Oprah's Book Club.

  • Science Fiction - While I enjoy sci-fi movies, I normally can't concentrate on them in book form.

  • Westerns - In book or movie form, they really don't interest me.

  • Mysteries - Unless supernatural or fantasy based, not for me.

  • Crime Drama - John Grissam, etc. just not for me.

NOTE: Please ask before basing a "profile based swap" on my favourite movies - some of these movies I absolutely adore but would not really want things based on them. Dead Birds, for example, is an awesome movie, but not something I would want around the house.

Favorite Crafts

Crocheting is probably my number one most favourite craft - I'm a hooker at heart and I'm a yarn hoarder. hats, scarves, afghans, potholders - anythings.

I love scrapbooking, and scrapbooking paper. I can use scrapbooking paper for sooooooo many crafts and LOVE receiving new paper!

I love love LOVE scrapbook paper books. I make so many crafts out of them - doesn't matter the brand or where they are from - if its got a cute or funky design or picture on it, I will find a use for it.

I make miniature terrain for Dungeons and Dragons and other table top gaming.

I've become obsessed with Artist Trading Cards (ATCs). I didn't know such a thing existed before Swap-Bot. If you ever want to swap one-on-one ATCs with me, message me and we'll set something up!

Characters: Diddle, most kawaii stuff, Disney princesses, actually - most disney.

I don't like anime. Nothing against those who do - it's just not for me.

Lotions, Creams, Make-up I don't use them, it would be a waste.

Characters: Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton anything(IN MODERATION), Dracula, Hello Kitty, Batz Maru, Sponge Bob, Xena, Monty Python,

I love theology. I have an obsession of studying various religions and cults. Catholic Dogma is fascinating to me - rosaries, the virgin mary, etc. I'm also very interested in the LDS (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints aka Mormonism), Paganism (less interested in fluff bunny Wicca), Voodoo, religion from various cultural regions in Africa, New Zealand, Hawaii, etc. Demons, Angels, heaven, hell, etc. Buddhism also holds my interest, Islam, and even Judaism. The only thing I would prefer not to recieve anything on is Protestant Christianity. As a whole.

**YARN!!!!!! Favourite Yarn is James C Bretts Marble Chunky in any colour, also Loops and Threads Charisma in the black purple and grey multicolour, I also adore Bernats mosaic in Ninja and most any other colour.

**Spiral bound community cookbooks (the kind of cookbooks put out by churches, schools, groups like scouts, etc.)

Penpal newsletters/zines - Never gotten one before - interested in seeing what I'm missing out on.

Stickers - I keep a penpal scrapbook and write to a couple people and love getting stickers. Doesn't matter what it is - unique or original little things are awesome - but so are Sandylion or little japanese stickers as well.

Things from where you are - Stickers, postcards, cards, playing cards, things with flags or coat of arms on them - if it's something unique to where you live, I would love it.

Tea - Black tea, white tea, green tea, oolong tea, rooibos tea - I love them all. Not a fan of fruit teas - but open to pretty much anything else.

Bookmarks - I adore bookmarks and read A LOT. While store bought bookmarks are great, I also LOVE handmade bookmarks - I want to see what your creative mind can come up with.

ATC's - I'm open to private ATC swaps with base wants/desires well laid out in advance. Send me a message and we can work something out :)

Art Supplies - Sharpies, markers, spiral bound sketch books of any size, paint pens of any colour ( preferably fine point, but I'm not really that picky), water colour paper, sculpy, any book binding supplies, hand made paper, ink pens, india ink, etc.

Craft Supplies - Scrap book paper, buttons, string, ribbon, paint brushes, citadel paint, scrap booking stickers, brads and eyelets, scrap booking supplies in general.

Socks - In the summer I would rather be barefoot than wear shoes, but as soon as Fall/Autumn comes around I absolutely adore and am addicted to socks! I love super fuzzy ones, striped ones, ones with characters, ankle socks, knee socks, thin socks, thick socks - just funky socks in general. I would love some awesome rainbow socks - the more colourful the better! I don't know much about sizing when it comes to socks, but shoe wise I'm a size 8 1/2 - 9 in Canada/US sizing

Pen Pal Supplies - Pads of paper with various characters or designs. Can be Kawaii or not - I prefer pads with lines, but I know a lot come mixed and love them all :) Also: Stickers, Canadian stamps for use in sending, etc.

Random -

Potion Bottles

Send me something odd and bizarre - I'll probably love it. I like really morbid things sometimes - For example: I collect vintage "death" photography (cabinet photographs from the 1800's of beloved family members who have passed away). Honestly, if you think it may be too odd for me - it probably won't be. Just don't send me like...poo. Cause...well that's gross.

If you send extra's, it does not guarantee you a heart.

First and foremost, a heart is earned when someone sends me an extra special swap package that far exceeds the swap requirements.

I find that people who actually read my profile have a way better chance than those who don't.

Handwritten things are awesome. It shows you put time and effort into the package.

Happy swapping :)

Things I Can Offer/Do

Herein contains a list of the various crafts I enjoy doing and can do well, if you ever want to do a private swap with me:

What I Can Make

-Crocheted items - hats, scarves, etc. - **Bookmarks - I can make you some in Photoshop and provide you with a .jpg or a .pdf, I can also craft them myself. Various styles - I can be pretty imaginative.
- Handmade Envelopes - I use a variety of different paper, both new and recycled to make my own envelopes. I can do many different styles, textures, colours, you name it. I am fond of using things like: magazines, scrapbooking paper, calendars, wallpaper, etc.
- ATC's - Sometimes I do collage, other times I will draw, paint, ink, etc. I love ATC's and could probably make an ATC for any topic you want.
- Journal Pages - If you journal at all, I am fond of Teesha Moore's style of journal page crafting and can make you as many as your heart desires. Here's an example. - Stationery - I can make you elaborate digital stationery you can print off yourself, as well as craft my own using card stock, collage, paint, etc.
- Handmade Postcards - Any theme you like, as many as you like :)
- Aged Paper - I love making paper look like it belongs in the 1500's - I use acid free paper for best results and can make you as much as you need. - Altered Journals - I've always just made my own journals in the past and altered from there, but I would love to try my hand at reconstructing or redoing a pre-existing journal in whatever theme you like!
- Magnets - marbel magnets and flat magnets are my specialty. I love making postage stamp magnets or using vintage ephemera to make them.

What I Can Offer

  • Postcards - I have quite a collection of postcards from generic Canada and Ontario, to vintage postcards from the 1970's, 80's, 60's, etc. I can send them in an envelope or naked with stamps - completely up to you!
  • Stickers - As I live rather close to the Sandylion Sticker Factory, I have a large collection of stickers. These are generally not Kawaii, but if you're out for Kawaii, I can probably rummage around and find some for you.
  • Scrapbook Paper - I have various sizes, colours and types, many of which I have no use for myself and would love to pass on via swap to someone who will use them.
  • Various Extra Crafting/Scrapbooking Supplies - This will change about monthly as to what I need to destash, so if there's something you're looking for, please send me a message and I will take a look through what I have for you.
