Hello from sunny Florida! I am a slow swapper who enjoys making each package; I'm having a great time with the Swap-Bot experience. I use crafting, creativity and swapping to ward off workaholism. I like working with paper and beads, and strive to re-use and re-purpose material whenever I can. I have two daughters in college and a very supportive husband. One of my daughters is studying environmental sciences, so the push to reduce, re-use, and recycle is a real presence in our household. FYI: I do re-swap items I've received that I cannot use, are duplicates, etc. If you send something and would prefer I not do this, just let me know. Otherwise, we'll let the swapping universe sort it all out so that everyone gets what they need. :)
I've been learning to cook vegetarian over the past 5 years because of my two veggie-girls. I'm still getting used to it but have really enjoyed the health benefits of not cooking with meat.
In my professional life I work primarily with graduate students and people with disabilities. It is intense but fun and rewarding. I do a lot of work on the computer for research, writing, and teaching. The best part about my job is that I get to do something different everyday. Very important-I get bored easily.
Our family is one that cherishes diversity in every sense. Our home is open to people of all races, ethnicities, and orientations. My happiest days are ones in which the house is full of family and friends just hanging out.
I live in a beautiful part of the world and love waking up and going out to get the paper in my bare feet. I have some wonderful avocado, mango, and banana trees in my yard. We are very popular with the squirrels.
I have a cute rescue dog who is an unusual breed - Leonberger. They are 'gentle giants' bred from Bernese Mountain dogs, Great Pyrenese, and Saint Bernards. Our little AbbieRose was the runt of the litter and has a deformed paw, but at she's 75 pounds she is big in our hearts and lives.
Styles I Like: Shabby chic, Retro (especially 1930-1960), A little bit of steampunk
Things I Don't Particularly Care For:
floral fragrances; anything too formal; religious or military things; Dottee dolls; TV; the smell of cigarette smoke; mean people; Stickers; the color Gray; Teddy bears and other stuffed animals; Rude drivers; Barbie; Nickelodeon; Disney or other licensed characters Anything with artificial sweetners
old costume jewelry (broken parts = okay); vintage cards, books, dictionary pages pre-1970 children's books
Amelie, Best in Show, Mighty Wind, Off the Grid, Princess Bride, That Thing You Do, Moonstruck, Lord of the Rings, Triplets of Belleville, Avatar, Cadillac Records
Please PM me and let me know. Flaking is bad karma - I would never do it intentionally.
-Handmade gift tags
-Handmade bookmarks
-Hand-inked backgrounds for ATCs, inchies, bookmarks, etc.
-Tropical leaves from my yard (e.g., sea grape, palm, ferns, mango, bougianvilla, croton, etc.)
-Punched shapes from my paper stash: circles, squares (scalloped, plain); cupcakes, trees, flowers, tags, apples, rocket ships, 'thank you,' and more
-I have a crimper and would be happy to share some papers with that texture.
Seriously, @Jesshens1125 flaking on a random envie (Nov 9, 2009)?? Was it worth it??
Still waiting for Altered Domino #2 swap from my partner @ShoppingRobin (hope she is okay!). The gracious @Lulumik has angeled this. She's the hostess with the mostest!
