About Me

I'm a silver aged (60+) wife/mother/grandmother, and I live in central Florida. I'm a 7th generation Floridian, and have been married for 49 years.

I'm retired, and since I married way too young (16), I've reverted back to a teenager. I am always looking for something new to keep myself busy (and to avoid as much housework as possible, lol).

I enjoy being outside amongst my live oak trees, watching the squirrels chase each other & working with my plants (repotting & propagating).

My favorite color is yellow first, then rainbow & sunset colors.

I have several favorite animals: cats (primarily, because I have the personality of a cat), horses, various birds (such as the titmouse, cardinals & house wrens), dragonflies & butterflies.

I'm highly into metaphysical matters (eg: spiritual enlightenment, paranormal investigations, esp, etc). And, yes, I believe in faeries, dragons, unicorns, pegusus & ETs..

I've worked in the medical field for 20 years. Also worked retail, hospitality, customer service, and even several years as a Renaisance Fair serving wench (mmm, I really miss the pirates).

Favorite Books

I love reading historical romance novels, mainly time-travel & highlanders. Hannah Howell & Christine Feehan are two of my favorite authors. I love reading at bedtime, especially after a rough day. That's one of my favorite ways to escape reality.

Favorite Music

I enjoy listening to various kinds of music: celtic, esoteric, 60s/70s/80s rock, motown, and anything by Alabama.

Favorite Movies

Some of my favorite movies are Everafter, Divine Secrets of the Yaya Sisterhood, Avatar, Pearl Harbor, Titanic, Happyfeet, Out On A Limb. In SciFi flixs: Star Wars (episodes 4,5 & 6), Lord of the Rings, Star Trek (the newer movies) and 2012. At times, I like a good disaster flick, such as Deep Impact, Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day, Dante's Peak, etc.

Favorite Crafts

I love crafts that intrigue me, such as hypertufa (cement) planters, dirty pour acrylic painting, paper-crafting, sculpting with cement or plaster of paris, and other DIY projects.

Unless there's a nature picture on TV, I perfer watching a tutorial on YouTube. I'm always looking to learn something new.

I also highly enjoy driving & roadtrips. Nascar is the only sport I'll watch. I was heavily into the #3 Intimidator, Dale Earnhardt Sr. (RIP).

I've been called a "granny gamer" because I love to play World of Warcraft (Alliance only). Runes of Magic and Dungeon Keeper are a close second & third.

My favorite food is Cantonese.

The teas I like: Chia, Earl Grey, Red Zinger, Orange Pekoe. (I have an ALLERGY to Chamomile).

Likes & Dislikes

My fave likes are: cats, dragons, faeries, Pegasus & dragonflies. Also the color yellow.

I also like: sunset colors, horses, parrots, sugar skulls, steampunk (gears & clockworks), shiny stickers (no "kiddie stuff"), altered paperclips, hanging shiny things, dangle beads, playing/oracle/tarot cards, washi samples, most anything eclectic or unusual.

I dislike propaganda. Please do not send anything religious, political, or sports.

I don't care for quilting, heavy sewing projects or yarn work. But give me a fat quarter or some yarn scraps & I'll make something funky out of it. I'm just crazy that way. :)

Not fond of the color purple (or shades of).

For tea swaps, PLEASE do not send Chamomile. I'm allergic to it. Thank you.

Just so you know....

If you're one of those wonderful people who make their own envelopes, don't be surprised if you get one of yours back with another swap. I believe in recycling. Unless it's one of those gems that I can't part with. I get very protective of my treasures (must be the dragon in me, lol). And if you don't see me in an international swap, it's not because I'm being picky. I'm on a limited budget, so I have to watch my postage. Sometimes I find a wonderful swap, sign up, then realize it's not regional, so I have to drop out. You may notice that my stuff is not high quality. Having to do on the cheap doesn't allow for all the pretty & nifty equipment. So, I do what I can, until I get myself stocked up (bit by bit).

10-30-2019: I rate within a couple days of receiving my wonderful happy mail. But for some reason, the rating doesn't always go through. Not sure if maybe SwapBot's matrix doesn't recognize my OS(Linux) or the "send" button isn't sensitive enough to register my "click", even though all the text that I typed is still on the "rating" page. Once I get the reminder to rate, I go back & reclick the button, then it goes through. So please be patient, the rating will eventually come. TY

Comment: Thanks for the pretty card!
Comment: No worries. I didn’t make my flip book from envelopes either. It never said to make it from envelopes. But it did say to put a note in an envelope. Guess I read it wrong too. Hope mine is accepted. I spent a long time on it, Thank you for the one you made for me💖

Comment: Thank you for the heartfelt swap! I really needed it. As soon as I opened the card to read your note the shamrock stickers made my soul shine with glee because they remind me of my Grandma Cook! You had no way of knowing she died New Years Day, but you read my profile and sent just the perfect pick-me-up! Thank you 😊 We too enjoyed all the episodes of the Mandalorian. I have yet to see the rise of Skywalker though. We’ll probably wait until it leaves the theaters and is available on Disney-plus! Take care my “sister-Floridian” 🥰
Response: The leaving of a loved one is much like someone stepping into another room. You don't see them, but you know they're near. May the sweet memories comfort you in times of sadness. Be blessed wtih the knowledge that your loved ones are with you always.

Response: I'm on the Excalibur free site, playing "The Burning Crusades". I have 3 avatars: night elf druid, night elf hunter & night elf mage. Haven't been there long, so I'm still relatively low level. Years ago I was lvl 35. I love it. Hope to see you around.
Comment: You are awesome! This turkey collage pc is so cute. You are good at making these. I feel so bad that mine turned out as a dud for you. Where did you find all the turkey pics? At least now I know how it’s supposed to look. Thank you!

It was interesting reading through your profile. I have to say though, I used to read during bedtime, but it always put me to sleep lol. It was nice getting to know you.

Hello, very nice to meet you - I'm really excited to be a part of this new paper crafting group. I actually think I've sent you something, or maybe you sent me something - either way I remember reading your profile before. I just recently discovered the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon - I've seen all of the TV seasons and just finished book one. I have become a bit obsessed! I don't know many others who are watching or reading so if you like those too, maybe we can chat about it :) l look forward to getting to know you better! Hi! I'm excited to be a part of this new paper crafting group with you. I just love making new things with paper and being creative. You sound like a very interesting and creative person. You certainly have experienced many different things in your life. (The pirates! Hahaha!) I also love nature and birdwatching like you. I like to watch the blue jays in my area (Canada) I don't know if you have them in Florida. I have only been to Florida once, and I must say it was FAR too hot for me. Just not used to it! Haha. Can't wait to swap with you in our new group. For: getting to know you--Addicted to Paper group.
