About Me

Hey! I've finally got my Etsy store going good, and so I have a little time to do some new swaps! Yay! The link to my store is above! If there's something you like that I make, it's probably in the store and you can either order it, or convo me in Etsy and ask for a swap! I'll get back to you that way the very same day!
Here is the deal with my amis: I only work from patterns occasionally. I often make the same type of ami for two people, but it never comes out exactly the same. Even when I work off of a pattern, I like to make it a bit differently than the original. I don't like to make something that someone else already made. I will work with you to make something that you will really love, just so long as you aren't looking for something that looks like, for instance, a 12" Pink Hello Kitty on an Apple with a red bow on her head. I am not that crocheter. I can make you a kitty. But specifics will be a surprise to both of us. The character of the kitty will emerge as I create her/him.

I work more than full time in a government job, volunteer extensively with the homeless and addicted community, and live with my hubby and step-daughter, who is 5 (we have her on weekends). I like to play sims and also hidden object computer games, and fantasy games, although not warcraft type. I have a Wii and a PC.

I Always, Always send my swaps out and usually far before the due date!!! So if you don't get it on time, let me know, and if its the mail problem (which I don't have around here often, as I live near a big city), I'll definitely resend, ASAP. I also intend to always go the extra mile for you on swaps. I'd like people to be really happy to get them. Otherwise, what's the point of all this?
I also promise to rate promptly and fairly. I reuse packaging! I have not bought any new packaging since I started here! I'm always able to recycle what I get from swapping and online shopping! This frees up part of my swap budget to spend more money on your items!

Favorite Books

I love any fantasy like Harry Potter and even fairy tales, but I also love anything by Marian Keyes, Maeve Binchy, Sophie Kinsella, or the like (British Chick-lit, I think it's called, rather condescendingly, by more classically oriented literature critics). I love travel books, especially about exotic locales. I also enjoy historical fiction, Phillipa Gregory and her ilk, much to my shame. Oh and I've read all of Jane Austen several times over. I read all my favorite books over and over. Books about Geishas and other aspects of historical Asian culture (and other cultures as well) fascinate me. I love books about sci-fi, esp vampires!
I also absolutely love rereading the books I read as a child (Little Women, Heidi, and all the rest are still on my shelves). Anyone know who is writing the next Harry Potter-type or Sookie Stackhouse type of books? I'd love more fantasy like those series. And if you are finished with any fictional audio books, I like them!

Favorite Crafts

I love making things! My current favorite is crochet, especially Amigurumi making. I make a lot of purses, too, and cowls and wraps of all sorts.
I'm a quilter, and I love to sew.
I also want to learn to make stained glass one day. I want to try sculpy clay craft, pottery, glass blowing, and metal-working.
I do some acrylic painting, tole painting.
I make jewelry, love it.
I make greeting cards.
I love embossing!

This isn't a gimme list! It's just that I join a lot of profile swaps and I like people to have a lot to choose from, so they can raid their stash easily, rather than having only one or two things they might not have on hand!
I like:
Sock yarn.
Big hole beads,
Shambala cord and other Shambala supplies
Buttons. organic looking or fancy, or unusual! or sets of 4, 5 or 6 for projects.
Embossing powder, but not the "distress" kind from Tim Holtz. It bleeds everywhere and isn't my style! I love the kind that heats to a shiny finish. I need pink now.
beautiful or cute Stickers.
Most colors, but not pastels so much. Although pastels are great for baby yarn/fabric.
Swarovski-type crystal beads, all colors. sizes.
Most animals
True Blood! seasons or episodes of the HBO Series! I currently own 2d season and all the books!
Nurse Jackie
Any Vampire-type of things
Orange or tangerine scents
Kimonos and silk cloth
PC games.
Patterned Ribbons (no more thin plain ribbons, I have every single color, now, thanks to you all!)
Packing tape
Art deco style.
Rich saturated colors.
Jewel Tones.
Handmade stuff.
Tiny things.
Fabric, esp natural fabric like cotton or silk
British chick-literature.
Audio books.
Pretty glass beads of all types.
Charms for jewelry, silver, brass, gunmetal, or copper colors
Fancy headpins!
Jewelry wire esp. need dead-soft wire.
Modern, fairly new crafting mags, even gently used for crochet, paper-craft, and jewelry making
Celtic things
BJD related magazines and props/wigs/eyes/etc
modern crochet patterns (xeroxed or used is fine)
Liv doll wigs
Ken clothing
SIMPLE sewing patterns, esp. handbags.
Rubber, acrylic, or handmade stamps,
shimmer mists
I love yarn. I prefer cotton, soy, blends, and nice acrylic, and wool, which can be itchy.
I always welcome yarn.
Wii or PC games, used is fine.
My 5 year old step daughter is the same age as my grandson! She loves girly things, sparkly things, etc, and is currently learning to read.
My etsy faves aren't necessarily things for you to buy me, except maybe some of the 1-5 dollar stuff. I have many marked as faves for myself to get back to and buy someday (when I'm rich!)

Please don't send!

Don't want: Porn/nude images-I'm very sensitive to the objectification of womens' bodies in art or commercials
Ephemera like old candy wrappers, tickets, etc.
FBs (friendship books???) decos? and slams and the like. Sorry, I just do not understand what is fun about them.
No Sex toys of any type, please.
little boy stuff like sports & superhero stickers
I hate plastic pony beads,
tween stuff like Hannah Montana
Music CDs (I prefer to listen to audiobooks)
Kiddie stuff (my kids are grown up)
toe socks
overly critical or picky "designer" people,
Neon or pastel clothing,
Petty people with tons of dislikes and "issues"
Little scraps of paper. Toss 'em!
Allergic to:
Cigarette and cigar smoke
onion grass
kitty fur (sad, I like cats) do not stress if you get one or two little cat hairs in my package, I'll air it out! As long as the items haven't been resting in the cat's bed with her, or peed on or something, I'll understand because I have a dog.

Stuff I can send you:

Any kind of Amigurumis!
Crocheted dolls and doll clothing
Book character (my interpretation) esp Vampire dolls (I recently sent someone a Pam from True Blood Doll)!
sewn doll clothing
jewelry, necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings

Granny squares of any type, color, or size,
Crocheted flowers to embellish whatever cupcake pin cushion
All types of cool lacy Victorian-look Christmas ornaments!
Play food/dishes
really cool fiber samplers for paper crafting
tole-painted items such as jewel boxes, tea boxes, trays or even canvasses
baby blankets and quilts of all types
baby booties
neat rattles
crocheted or quilted and embellished handbags
long, rambling letters
fabric fat quarters or larger.
all types of fibers and trims and ribbons
Ornaments (all sorts)
handmade banners (crocheted or paper)
Art or regular quilts
patchwork or crazy-quilted squares
hand embroidered items

Comment: THANK YOU so very, very much. You made me cry with the Cardinal. I love the bracelet and the rose picture will have it's place on my wall (next to the other piece you made for me in another swap). The cardinal is trying out a couple different homes until we decide where he will stay. You did a great job of "getting it right". Hundreds of hearts for you. Thank you again.

Comment: Your swapping reputation precedes you, and it's well-earned! Thank you so much for the delightful selection of items! I will try the butterfly headband, but as my hair tends to be kind of uncooperative with that sort of thing I may still have to end up passing it on to my kiddo anyway. Thank you again!!
Response: I'm happy you liked it all!

Congratulations on opening your Etsy store! I'm thrilled for you and happy I can order something my daughter really wants :) Hope you remember that magical unicorn you made a few years back? It is STILL one of her favorite toys and spends every night on her bed. Your pieces really hold up... Well, anyhow, she wants a mate for it. We've convo'd you over at Etsy!
