About Me

I am a wife and the mother of three kids that are mostly grown. I work full-time as a medical transcriptionist. I enjoy crafting, reading, camping and spending time with family and friends. Some of my favorite times are spent crafting with my BFF and/or shopping for craft supplies! We make a yearly adventure of going to the scrapbook expo near us. I am a member of a card making club that meets monthly to make cards. I am a Christian and believe in God and in my Savior Jesus Christ. Although we all have different beliefs, I believe that we can respect each other and get along with each other.

I like songs from all music genres, but I would say my favorite is that awesome 80's music!

I enjoy reading. One of my favorite authors is Amy Harmon. If you haven't had a chance to read anything she has written, you are missing out and need to give her books a try!

The only movies I don't enjoy are horror movies; otherwise, I am up for a good movie!

I am a TV junkie! I have a favorite show for every day of the week and love to use my DVR! I usually craft while watching one of my shows!

My favorite craft is card making. I send most of my cards at Christmas and enjoy making and sending Christmas cards. I enjoy crafting and being creative. I like to try new techniques. My newest craft hobby is bookfolding which I have really enjoyed. It looks harder than it is, although it is time consuming. I also enjoy doing ATC's, inchies, altered Rolos/MemoryDex cards, and tags. Mixed media art and collage fascinate me, but I am still learning the process of letting go of the clean lines and having things "perfect" and just going with the flow and embracing the creative commotion!

Some of my favorite things are dragonflies, butterflies, hummingbirds, lady bugs, flowers, leaves, anything fall, snowflakes, anything winter/Christmas, steampunk, paisley, owls, peacocks, feathers, keys, fairies, gnomes, mushrooms and woodland animals like fox, deer, elk, moose, bear, hedgehogs, etc. I honestly don't have a favorite color and basically like them all equally. I love texture and like to touch things. Needless to say, I don't like signs that say, "Do Not Touch!" I love quotes and words!

Although I am a Christian, I would prefer not to receive images of crosses. I do not drink alcohol or coffee and would prefer not to have items with these themes. Also please do not send me crude or inappropriate things.

I basically have two hobbies ~ crafting and collecting things to craft with. I enjoy collecting everyday ephemera to upcycle/recycle to incorporate into my crafts such as stamps, packaging, junk mail, envelopes, pop cans, material from old clothing, lace, fibers, leather from old belts and purses especially if it has an embossed design, jewelry, watches, and cool tags off of things I have bought ~ I have even bought a shirt because I loved the tag that was on it so much! ;) lol

My favorite season is fall and I wish it would last longer. I just love the crisp fall air and beautiful fall colors, but who doesn't love a fresh snowfall in the winter, a spring rainstorm or a cool breeze on a hot summer day! There is something to enjoy every day!

EXTRAS: Although extras can be fun, please don't feel you need to include them to receive a heart. I would rather you take the "extra" time working on the swap for me than you taking time to look for "extras" to include with your swap!

I only push the sent button after I have dropped the swap off at the post office or the blue mailbox. If you do not receive a swap marked sent, it is lost in the mail. Please message me if this happens, and I will resend. Also please let me know if one of my swaps ever comes owing postage, so I can send you money to cover it. I don't always go inside the post office to have them weigh it because I have a scale and do my best to put adequate postage on, but I have noticed at my own post office different postal workers are more strict and require more postage than others.

I also have two USA only groups here on swap-bot if you would like to check them out to see if they interest you and to see if you meet the qualifications to join. They are:

I wrangled a couple of my coworkers to give me their company party invitations so I can use them for a project too - haha! πŸ˜ƒ I liked how your card turned out, so I might recreate the topper for myself to use as a journal page or scrapbook page. Merry Christmas! πŸŽ„

Comment: Oh My Gosh, Michele! These are so beautiful! I have never been able to get the hand of making shakers.. they always stick on the sides of the tape used to raise them. Ugh! You will have to share your secret sometime :-) The snowflake one does have a soft texture.. so cool! Must have been a beautiful office party invite! And the green swirl is fascinating on the tree one! I keep looking for the black swirls on it :-) THANK YOU. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Response: Awww - thank you for the kind words. I am so happy you liked the shakers. The trick to help them not stick is to use an embossing buddy or baby powder on the sides. The powder makes it not sticky anymore and it also helps to reduce static on the acetate just wipe it clean after you powder everything up. Hope the tip helps. Happy crafting! πŸ˜ƒ

Comment: Wow! The music card and the one you wrote in are beautiful. Do you have a die that cuts and embosses the nativity. It is outstanding and will be displayed for the whole season. Thank you for joining the swap and making me something so special.
Response: Thank you for the kind words! :) I am happy that you liked what I made for you! Yes, the nativity card was one of my new cut and emboss folders from Crafter's Companion and I was excited to try it out! I really liked how it turned out. If you would like me to cut a few for you to play with, just left me know and I will get them sent off so you can make some nativity Christmas cards too. I also got an angel cut and emboss folder that is beautiful too and that is what I am taking for us to make at my card club this month. Christmas cards are my favorite to make! :)

Comment: Michele, such a lovely card! You are very talented! I'm sad you didn't sign the back. I had an art teacher years ago that told me, "Always sign your work".. so I will put your name on the back for you :-) Credit goes to the designer and creator when the card is sent. Thank you for the cute little tags, too! Happy stamping! <3
Response: I always debate back and forth whether to sign the back or not - thanks for the advice! πŸ˜ƒ And thank you for kind words. I am happy you liked what I made for you! πŸ˜ƒ
