About Me

Music is my passion (listening, not playing. The music talent gene seems to have skipped my bloodline.) My hobby is making mixed cds for friends. My job is in music. It's safe to say, music surrounds me.

If i could be anywhere right now it would be New Orleans (preferably with Joey.) Traveling and road trips are high on my life's list of priorities. So far, New Orleans is the only physical place I've ever felt at home. Although, i've never actually lived there. There is a small plan in the works to remedy that.

Last Spring i adopted a stray kitty. His name is Finn, and to know him is to love him. (except during those not so rare moments, lately, when he feels the need to try to climb the walls.)

Liam Lynch is a brilliant, brilliant human being!

I'm 32. No one believes me. I'm ok with that. I never plan to actually grow up anyway :)

This year for Halloween i plan on dressing up as Death from the Sandman graphic novels! I finally found the perfect skirt! (in New Orleans of all places!)

I'm a candy freak! (but i hate nuts!)

I have a hard time sitting still. (hhmm, i wonder if they're related?)

I love giving/receiving hugs.

I collect fun socks.

"and all the days that i'm alive i strive to understand not to be understood" - M. Doughty

Favorite Books

Before stumbling into my current job, i worked in a bookstore for 9 years. Where you will most likely find me in a bookstore: The kids section (Picture books specifically - Mo Willems is fantastic!), Sci-fi or reg Lit. A few of my favorite writers are: Jeff Noon, Neil Gaiman, Jonathan Safran Foer, Jim Carroll & Jack Kerouac.

*Two book recommendations that have yet to go wrong: 1) Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer! 2)Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman!

Favorite Movies

NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!!! (I'm a little on the obsessive side with this movie.) Other favorites include: Almost Famous, Billy Elliot, Garden State,Nightwatch- the original Russian version) and pretty much anything Tim Burton touches.

Comment: Colleen, Thanks for the swell mix! Judging solely by the songs you've selected, we would probably hit it off! You have included some of my favorites, plus some new bands I can't wait to meet. Thanks so much! BTW: If you are interested, I would be happy to send you the mix I made using solely music from the Tom Waits catalog... Doug
Comment: Thank you for the cds! I'm sending one your way too,(just thought it was fair since you sent two, & thought you might appreciate some different cover tunes...) Hope you like it!! Thanks again!
Comment: Thanks for the two discs - looking forward to listening!

Comment: Score for extra special package! 1) Bird cover (I heart birds) and 2) song w/my sister's name in it (Guillemots). Heavily repeating Napolean Says and Lolita and oh, also had Ryan Adams and Scissor Sisters on my cd (though opted for Dear Anne and Paul McCartney, respectively). Cute card too. Kudos!!!
Response: Thanks! Hee. i considered both of those, but i couldn't get Amy/Mary our of my head while i was making the mix :)

Comment: Though I have not yet listened to the mix, I can tell just from taking it out of the envelope that you put a lot of hard work into it. Love the cover too! Very creative. I can't believe you got ALL the letters! You did better than I did!
