My mail BLOG!!!

If you are sending me a letter

I enjoy: good humor, watching documentaries, reading in large amounts, taking long walks, sea food, perfume, Scandinavia, philosophy, everything about the '80s, rock/post rock/ambient/chillout/glam-pop music, bleu cheese, SUSHI!, fish, learning languages and studying linguistics, geography, maps, WoW, hidden object games, fountain pens, knitting, crocheting, paper crafts (and crafting in general), dogs (English bulldogs, Bull terriers, Pit bulls, Staffordshire terriers), cats, graphic arts, sleep, coffee, beer, Danish cinematography, naïve, lowbrow art, crosswords, mail art, solitude, gadgets, graphic novels, rodents, all types of clothing accessories, public transport, snow, amusement parks, getting my hair styled, intelligent yet unpretentious people.

I dislike: ignorance, narrow-mindedness, wild parties. I also feel repulsed by insects, big time! Grasshoppers and ladybirds are fine, but spiders, praying mantis and alike... not sure what Noah was thinking if he allowed them on his boat.

I hope this breaks the ice if you don't know what to write about ;)

Postcards

I am passionate about sending and receiving postcards. I enjoy surprises and I trust in your taste and kindness to send me something you would enjoy getting yourself. Any well designed card will please me.

I only ask you to make sure I haven't received this postcard yet. The touristic postcards are sorted out by country and you can search the non-touristic ones by tags (the most obvious details, characters and themes that appear on the postcard or artist name; f.ex. Kaj Stenvall, Jetoy, flower, bikes etc.). Both flickr links can be found above. Thank you for taking time to do this favor for me.

Please do not only send me postcards with cats, I like variety!

»»»»»»»» NB! I do not collect nor use BLANK TOURISTIC postcards, so please, write on them and stamp them or choose something else if you must send unwritten. Thank you!:) ««««««««

I prefer them written and without envelopes.

Crafts and Hobbies

I love to try new things but I'm mostly into

  • Mail art (unless you are sending me a postcard, which I prefer naked, I would really love the envelope decorated!)

  • Postcard making

  • Artist Journaling

  • Letter writing and penpaling

That means I'm paper, stationery and ephemera crazy!

I am always happy to receive

  • Stationery

  • Letter sets, pads, sheets

  • Origami, decorative, scrap paper

  • Stickers

  • Deco/washi tape

  • Rubber stamps

  • Nice envelopes

  • Tea bags (anything except plain black/green tea)

  • Instant drinks (coffee, cocoa, soup etc.)

  • Any food items and sweets that are safe to be sent via mail. I am an absolute omnivore and I LOVE trying out new things!

  • Bookmarks and book 'thongs'

  • Anything related to Persian/Exotic cats. I have a 1 year old black Persian fluffball, Nietzsche, and since his arrival to our home I've become quite obsessed with him and those like him:)

  • Perfume samples

  • Mini memos (I recently started collecting loose sheets; non-kawaii ones are very welcome too)

  • Metro/public transport maps

  • Blank non-touristy poctards

  • Your letters!!!

  • Anything kawaii (not a big fan of Sanrio, though); looking for Kamonohashikamo/Kamonohashidasu, Kutusita Nyanko, Nyanpuku and Beer Chan by San-X; love Korean kawaii!

  • Anything with Pucca, Sesame Street, Garfield, Betty Boop, The Simpsons any of the Seth McFarlane creations, Dilbert -- for the sake of pleasant child-ult-hood memories :))

  • Jetoy cat postcards (written and stamped or blank)

  • Colorful gel pens, sharpies or similar. I can't control myself when it comes to buying pens :D

  • Fridge magnets

  • Comic strips, graphic stories and novels (I dislike manga)

  • Cute, colorful socks. The crazier, the better!

  • Anything typical of your country

  • Personalized address labels

  • Anything with the Mexican skeletons (Día de los Muertos) theme

The common pot

I am a 27 y.o. currently living near Madrid. I work as an English tutor at the moment, but I hope to find a more inspiring job when the employment situation in Spain improves. My biggest passion is linguistics and I enjoy studying languages.

UPDATE 09/2013 I have been accepted to the linguistics programme at the uni! I am also going to be studying German and Korean languages, so I will be looking for natives to exchange letters with ;)

I have two cats and I'm a devoted and slightly crazy cat lady :) This is random, but I really like beer.

I'm not a hoarder and I have very little space in my house, so I only try to keep things that I collect or use on a daily basis. Please don't feel offended if I use the items you sent me in other swaps or pass them on. That doesn't mean I didn't like them, more like the opposite! I share them when I think they're nice enough for more people to enjoy. I think it's obvious that I will use the stationery or ephemera that you send me.

I have no food or topical allergies and I love to try new things. The only thing I will probably never try again is Chinese corn candy. YUK.

Lavender smell and liquorice candy make me nauseous.

I am sorry, but Spain is not the country to go to when you wish to shop kawaii, so I usually consider other likes besides kawaii that my partner has when sending items.

I'm not cutesy or girly at all when it comes to my clothing, manners and tastes. However, I really enjoy having small kawaii or other cute items around, receiving colorful and sweet postcards, and I do show my girly side more in the swaps. I just don't find infantile princess or fairy aesthetics appealing in the general sense.

I am not religious neither spiritual, so I prefer not to receive items with those themes. But if you find it important to share something like that with me for some reason, I will accept and respect it with no problem.

My political and moral views are liberal, but I don't discuss them unless it's explicitly required.

I always rate, so if I haven't after a reasonable amount of time has passed, do not hesitate to contact me.

I am a meticulous swapper, I always try to make my partner's day. However, Spanish Post has been faling me constantly, they rarely have pretty stamps and it's impossible to know how much time the letters spend in the office/post-box before they're actually mailed out. I apologize in advance for any delays or problems that may arise. I will always contact you if there's any failure on my part and I'm willing to resolve any situation.

On the Fine Art of Stealing

A girl feels like a moron when having sent a nice package (even more so if the things sent are as inexpensive and basic as paper or stickers), she receives nothing in return, not even a thank you. I have been that girl many times, and holding a grudge is not what I want to have to deal with on this site. Everyone can be forgetful, uninspired, lazy or overwhelmed by other things. I don't judge or downrate for not being perfect. Just please, don't steal my teabags and let me know if yours are still in the state of picking the tea leaves somewhere in Sri Lanka by the time they should already have been sent.

A big THANK YOU to the remaining 99% of you, whose kindness has made my life unimaginable without this wonderful hobby!

Comment: Thank you so much for the gorgeous postcard!! I would love to visit this place - it's fascinating! I visited Spain several years ago, but didn't get a chance to see much beyond Madrid and Sevilla. I would love to return one day to explore more of your beautiful country. :-) Thank you so much for re-sending. I never did receive the first postcard you sent. Hopefully some mailman is enjoying it.
